Ranger Headquarters II (OOC)
We will, Captain
. You might need a hammer though like this guy
.
I will do my best to post today. I meant to yesterday but my energy was sapped with creating my character archive and all the packing and moving things I did. Today though, you will have my fullest attention
Is Ilisys meant to have gone straight to the HQ for debriefing, or straight to the healing houses for check-up first, considering she got pummelled in the mission ?
Hmm. I'd say report first and then quickly to HoH?
Not gonna lie, I am very eager to hear that debrief. Not that I had anything to do with the pummeling or anything like that
Further thoughts: @Ercassie I would guess that Ilisys would already have gone for such a long time with that injury, so lingering for a few moments at HQ wouldn't do too much harm, right? Tagging @Arnyn for second opinion.
Thanks @Pele Alarion. Just trying to figure out if she should show up at the HQ with fresh bandages, etc.
Guess Beren’s makeshift will keep her standing a bit longer though.
*pummels @The King in Yellow.*
*pummels @The King in Yellow.*
Well the time in between arrival and debrief at hq is long enough to process a prisoner at the dungeons. Or long enough to go home quickly, wash off most of the dirt of the road and change clothes. Isys could have chosen to go for a quick bandage change in that time. Up to you, @Ercassie !
I think @Arnyn did say that the evil antagonist escaped the final battle with some of his orcish rabble. And since Sarghest has a history of escaping battles ... I imagine it is possible he yet lives ... for a future of prospective pummelling exchanges to come. Who knows what the future may hold ?

May I be a boring pedantic person who you all love to hate, and point out a few things? (No, but yes
Now I'm assuming here that all the rangers arrived in Minas Tirith in a rather orderly fashion on the same day, although they don't arrive at the HQ at the same time? Right? And you do have a Master Healer in your midst who would eat herself alive
Let's not forget that the Houses of Healing and the Ranger's barracks/HQ are at the same level (how convenient
Just options to keep in mind
I’m just going to have to disregard any mention of her physical state at all, I think. In the HQ post. Because honestly, I could go back and forth on deciding all year otherwise. That old debate team has a lot to answer for ! Thank you for the opinions though, guys.
Given the entire circumstances of so many unknown factors, vague is going to be the only solution. Fortunately ‘vague’ and ‘ambiguous’ rather suit Ilisys, even on a good day. So
Hello good folks! Are we welcoming new recruits into the Rangers at this time?
They welcomed me, the gods know why, so I have to assume that they are welcoming all the good and talented people wanting to join as well (once again, why did they let me in?)
One of us! One of us!
A vain hope perhaps
@Ta'leus Shieldsong, well, possibly, possibly.
Might be a bit tricky to work out the details at the moment, but it might still be sorted.
Hey folks, sorry I haven't been posting for a couple of weeks, just been super busy recently. Hopefully, I'll be jumping back in the saddle tomorrow though!
1) I have added specialisations to the roster (hopefully all correct).
2) @Dunulf Looking forward to your post!
3) @Moriel, @Ercassie, @Arnyn, @Isolde Alarion, @Tharmáras, @The King in Yellow - post, guys! It's been a week!
*yawns while waiting* Can't have a host of orcs marching in to attack the group in the Pelennor Fields, can we?
Or... maybe a stampeding mumak...

I’ve been waiting to post in both the RPG and Commons since I was the last one to post before the updates, but now that I’ve been ordered I’ll get on it
We just got the grass growing properly there! *flails hands* And prepared the fields!Pele Alarion wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 10:43 amCan't have a host of orcs marching in to attack the group in the Pelennor Fields, can we?Or... maybe a stampeding mumak...
I have to make Imladris replies but, as I've assured Cassie and Nessa in our private messaging recently, I'll be back in Gondor by the 12th, @Pele Alarion !
@A Good Wife , keeping alcoholic beverages out of Beren Beren’s reach is a marvelous idea
.
I'm now imagining @Pele Alarion , playing one of her forthcoming tricks on Bear, restocking his chest of liquors following inspection with chilled fruit juices of the Pelennor farmlands

.
February 12th is my deadline for updating Imladris enough for me to begin a spree in Gondor - replies I owe like for Ranger activities and Isys' pub and the Market; posts in threads I haven't gotten to yet like the Healing House; and stories to set up in the Free RPs with Cassie and Isolde. I want to establish my Swan Knights as well, probably an adventure with them, one open to all especially Rangers, against Corsair pirates in the Southern Fiefdoms Free RP or fighting Harad soldiers in Harondor there (i suppose Southern Fiefdoms is a good place).
So hang on. I'm coming
.
Congrats to all those Rangers receiving specializations in the Commons, it seems
! I'll either wait to see if Aragorn/Arnyn will give Beren a specialization or I'll wait until Cassie posts pup shenanigans for us in the barracks before I write in that thread in particular again.
Glad to see you back, @Turin Ringhûn !! I'm looking forward to the Ranger adventures we'll have again, old friend
!

As we can see from the above rather selective quote, this, ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages
I think Pele could count on a certain mischevious room-mate of Beren’s, who owes our favourite Master Healer a favour (or fifty), and might be convinced to aid in this nefarious prank ! He’s certainly hidden ale from his father before, and not always to try it himself !Tharmáras wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:36 am @A Good Wife , keeping alcoholic beverages out of Beren’s reach is a marvelous idea.

Also @Pele Alarion : you’ve been waiting a week but I’ve a few (nine at last count) places where I have owed a post for months now. Those elves may be immortal but their patience has its limits.
Haven’t forgotten this one though. I shall be back. Hopefully a few Gondorian posts shall be allowed me before the end of the week.
@A Good Wife, if Nessa requires certain alcoholic rogues to be thrown out of certain drinking establishments, Ilisys will merrily oblige you. Just say the word. For his own good, obviously.
@Ercassie - don't be hasty now
give them plenty of rope to hang themselves... Then you can kick them out of their chairs
or perhaps
"Traiiiiitorrrrr!" - Beren to Nal, @Ercassie
! I have a feeling Narradir will be disappointed
. "I upset Isys and there's a kid who adores me here, buddy, and her mom's my doctor. We can't go crazy...again" - Beren. I know you are working on your Elves but if you want to make a few Gondor posts this week, you should, I understand
.
@A Good Wife the thought of Beren and Narradir being thrown out by Isys is tempting for the lols
, but considering what just happened and Ellie is around I don't know what Bear should do...he still owes Narradir a good time... but I think Faramir mentioned Beren was drinking the night before the present RPG...and I suppose he wouldn't have been mad if he knew Beren just had that tea Isys gave him...did I just talk myself into getting kicked out of the pub for continuity's sake?
@A Good Wife the thought of Beren and Narradir being thrown out by Isys is tempting for the lols
And in the Ranger HQ OOC thread no less!
Beren is very much sober in The Hunters and the Hunted and shall remain so. Thanks, coffee
.
I might squeeze in a post for Hunters and the Hunted before the 12th.

Sorry @Pele Alarion. Don’t think I’m going to manage a post by the end of this week (end of today). I’ll get to it though hopefully soon.

This would still be kind; there might be some sort of bitter herbal potions, wormwood or something.
@Turin Ringhûn Bring here that Rangers' Guide quick! See what a mess there is without firm guidelines in place? lol
@Ercassie Well, take your time, and don't mind me if I complain too much.
Yes, Cassie, don't mind our commander-in-chief Pele here, she has some 'splaining to do about that shoulder injuryPele Alarion wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 5:40 pm@Ercassie Well, take your time, and don't mind me if I complain too much.![]()
Hopefully a non-lethal dose of wormwood, @Pele Alarion ...right?...*laughs nervously

*Brings red plush pillows, a warm blanket, and a glass of Baileys hot chocolate (sans marshmallows
) for @Ercassie who's taking a little breather for a few days

@Tharmáras I am not that sure it can even be lethal, only very, very, VERY bitter.
Right, made the status updates, and it is a bit sad to see only some of the long list active. Ah well.
I'll post in the Commons soon, @Pele Alarion though not in the way I had intended. Anything to cheer you up
. I just need to do two more Northern Fiefdoms posts which set up my Tower Guard intro (and Mourgan's girlfriend lol).

BTW @Pele Alarion I don't know if everyone will be OK with this suggestion, but perhaps you could bold or colour those Rangers that are active at the moment? Just for easier navigation, not to call anyone out.
You mean something like this, @Nessa Saelind? *points to the OP*
@Pele Alarion
love the green shade! Looks awesome!
You might want to cross out this bit Frost's status

for he's officially enrolled and allCaladcyll Markov (Frost of many names- still to be 'officially enrolled' IC)
Ah yeah, that is true. Almost reported my own post in the process. lol...
I'd say he's not fully enlisted yet, he's still not completed his first mission yet. Who knows what could happen. He could be eaten by ghosts, Faramir might have to toss him out of a tower.
If I had any say, I'd would suggest wait until after the mission is over to call him a fully fledged trainee ranger. But that's my quickly scrabbled two cents
Oh, just put ranger-in-training or ranger apprentice
And oi! No tossing people out of towers! Do you know how hard it is to clean blood from white stones and marble!

I think the general idea was something like if your IC character had any previous training or experience of serving as any of the pre-existing forms of plaza Gondorian military, then they are considered to be a Ranger.
If on the other hand, you decided to enlist with a character whom you’re writing as having never participated or trained as Gondorian military until this new enlistment, then that character is counted initially as a Recruit.
There were a few basic skills developed in the discussion of the previous Rangers HQ which you would be expected to be able to demonstrate in order to differentiate between a Ranger as opposed to a Recruit. I can not remember off the top of my head what those all were; something like at least basic unarmed combat, at least one armed combat, general being able to camp/survive on the road/in the field, that sort of thing.
So I would venture that a new ‘green IC’ participant, if that’s what you were playing at here, would be considered a Recruit until he’s managed to prove himself as full Ranger on the current mission or other means, ie training grounds/barracks posts for character development.
All ranks beyond that basic writer decision on this particular IC’s skill set are of course awarded at the discretion of the acting commander.
@Pele Alarion, the coloured update looks very good. Thanks for keeping us on track

Well yah. New Rangers are Recruits.
Will have to look though the Ranger stuff again, and browse everything I've collected through the years to see if there is anything that might be useful for us now.
I'd like to check in here first with @Pele Alarion and everyone else for confirmation before posting anything in the Commons. I know we were talking here a good while ago (and we briefly mentioned it on the Discord) chat about the rangers having some sort of refresher course at the Houses of Healing. That way we can have these two institutions of Gondor and their members interacting and crossing over.
My plan was to write a short note in which the administration of the Houses of Healing notifies the rangers returned from their first mission about 2 things: those injured to report to the Houses of Healing immediately after the King's speech and the ceremony (in progress) so their injuries can be checked out, further treatment prescribed etc. The second part would concern the basic healing skills course for rangers that would be lead by Ioreth.
With this note what we talked about would be official IC. Of course, the part regarding refreshing the basic healing skills for rangers wouldn't be mandatory, it's just an option and can be done whenever. I know @Ercassie and @Tharmáras have mentioned and made plans to come to the Houses of Healing, but with the note formally in the HQ every ranger would have a reason to come to the Houses of Healing when they can.
Regarding the course itself, it wouldn't be anything too complex. Let's say max 3 posts, the first one where we determine the knowledge about healing skills, the second we do some theoretical knowledge (e.g. what should you have in your first aid kit), and then practice what you've learned. Of course, everything can be adjusted, this is just a basic idea. Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions of what else should be included in the notice let me know

When I write for the Healing House, having Beren arrive carrying a swooned Isys, lol, I'll mention that he had recently received Ioreth's summons which was formally sent to the Rangers. If it's alright with Pele. It'll be the second post I make after my Northern Fiefdoms one for Issy on my Gondor RP List. I look forward to seeing you in your Ioreth guise! Maybe Beren could know her well since he lives in Imloth Melui where she lives since he dwells there also? Maybe she could have been the healer who tried saving his kinsman Khallador of the Grey Company but he passed away shortly after the battle in Mordor.
Ooooh, @Nessa Saelind that means that I can rest? That is so cool! Hahahaha. Well, I suppose the note wouldn't do harm. *packs a suitcase and goes on vacation whistling merrily*
*shakes head at all the plotting by @Tharmáras

@Tharmáras - thank you, you're a star.
Maybe by the time you start writing the note will already be up in the Commons so it will make your writing life easier
And of course, Beren can know Ioreth from before.
We can talk about it in detail on Discord.
Since Ioreth is a canon character and (for me) a pillar of the Houses of Healing as well as a legendary female healer, she must have met and treated a lot of people in her long life. So if anyone wants to say Ioreth knows or has treated their character of their family or friends please feel free to say so.
And if you'd like me to RP anything with Ioreth with you let me know and the turtle will do her bestestest.
@Pele Alarion - by the order of the administration you are officially on vacation.
Don't do anything Prince Faramir wouldn't
