War Of The Dwarves And The Orcs - Early Morning Scrimmage
Character Elimination
When Thrór came to Moria the Gate was open. Nár begged
him to beware, but he took no heed of him, and walked proudly
in as an heir that returns. But he did not come back. Nár stayed
near by for many days in hiding. One day he heard a loud shout
and the blare of a horn, and a body was flung out on the steps.
Fearing that it was Thrór, he began to creep near, but there
came a voice from within the gate:
'Come on, beardling! We can see you. But there is no need
to be afraid today. We need you as a messenger.'
Then Nár came up, and found that it was indeed the body
of Thrór, but the head was severed and lay face downwards. As
he knelt there, he heard orc-laughter in the shadows, and the
voice said:
'If beggars will not wait at the door, but sneak in to try thieving,
that is what we do to them. If any of your people poke their foul
beards in here again, they will fare the same. Go and tell them
so! But if his family wish to know who is now king here, the
name is written on his face. I wrote it! I killed him! I am the
master!'
Then Nár turned the head and saw branded on the brow in
Dwarf-runes so that he could read it the name A Z O G. That name
was branded in his heart and in the hearts of all the Dwarves
afterwards. Nár stooped to take the head, but the voice of Azog¹
said:
'Drop it! Be off! Here's your fee, beggar-beard.' A small bag
struck him. It held a few coins of little worth.
Weeping, Nár fled down the Silverlode; but he looked back
once and saw that Orcs had come from the gate and were hacking
up the body and flinging the pieces to the black crows.
Such was the tale that Nár brought back to Thráin; and when
he had wept and torn his beard he fell silent. Seven days he sat
and said no word. Then he stood up and said: 'This cannot be
borne!' That was the beginning of the War of the Dwarves and
the Orcs, which was long and deadly, and fought for the most
part in deep places beneath the earth.

Liggin wiped the sweat from his eyes. The sun had not broken over the horizon yet. The diamond dew still covered the green valley and red blood and greyish guts from the battle. Having been called to arms when it was still dark, the young dwarf felt a chill on his neck as he stopped to get his breath, the breeze drying his sweat. It would be a long day. Hefting his axe, he charged back in and swung at the first orc his weapon reached.

Urgi, the best damn mama bear that ever climbed a tree, was in no mood to deal with orcs this morning, or dwarves either for that matter. Normally, she was a friend to the little hairy folk, but they were getting too damn noisy with their axe throwing this morning. One of her cubs might clamber out of the cave and, lured by the raucous sounds of day drunk dwarves, might wonder into the line of fire. She was not having that today! She extended her claws and roared.

Fali for her part was a bit confused about what exactly was happening as she came blinking out of the dwarven mines onto the mountain side . It didn't take her long though to catch sight of Liggin and gave her fellow dwarf a nod. "A good day for Orc hewing I think" She called and hefted up her axe and swung hard.

Liggin lower his head quickly to avoid a blow from the orc who swung a curved blade in a wide arc towards his neck. This orc was quite nimble on their feet, for an orc. The dwarf suddenly realized why. It was a female orc. So the scum where training the females now, like the dwarven females. No matter, nibble feet falter just as easily as heavy feet. Wading in with his axe held high, he heard his name called out (by Fali) but had no time to look around. Two things happened in the moment. First his axe nicked the orcs knee, causing her to stumble and roll. And secondly, the skies suddenly opened up and the rain pour down like sheets of steel...

Snak rolled and cursed. The bloody dwarf had got her knee. She crashed into someone's legs and came to a stop. The sudden down pour drenched her in seconds. Rising to her feet, she glared through the rain to find the scum that sliced her. "Ah! There's the maggot!", she snorted and limped hastily back towards him - her weapon raised and her teeth bared.

Urgi, now fully awake and annoyed, had little cubs to take care of, cubs that were growing more and more curious as the sun began to rise. It was not just the dwarves that were making a racket. To her great ursine horror, there were orcs crawling all over the mountains! She hadn't noticed them before. They were like ants though, once one was seen, a hundred thousand were not far behind. Filled with alarm, Urgi did what any mama bear would do to protect her cubs, she roared her anger to the stones, her great jaws expanding as she charged forward and clamped down on the nearest orc.

Fali got a good crack in on the orc that did it's best to swing back at her, fortunately the dwarf was shorter than Hurz so ducking the blow that came back at her was fairly easy, the was a fool and swung trying to take the dwarfs head off so it was a matter of bending her legs a bit and ducking the strike. In turn Fali jabbed her axe forward into the the belly wounding the orc a bit more, she could hear orcs cursing and growling about her she hoped the Liggin was doing well from the sounds of it she guessed so, as she didn't hear any dwarves grunting horribly so far. Hopefully that would continue

Sog felt the bear's teeth on him. He felt the jaws like a vice clamp down on him. Red dots of blood floated up before his eyes, and the world turned black and white. Then he heard the sounds of battle once more. Swiftly he raised his curved blade high and cut off his own arm below the elbow where the jaws had locked, slicing the creature as well. He then twisted and rolled as far from the melee as he could. Gasping for breath, he ripped a piece of his trouser leg and tied it tight around his bleeding arm. Sweat and snot dripped from his face, but he grinned through it and took up his blade once more. He wasn't done yet. He still had more body parts to spare...

How dare this little rat thing attack her! It must have been emboldened by its fellows. Orcs were cowardly alone or in small numbers. She’d become an expert at chasing them off, or straight up mauling the fools that were too brave by half. She never ate them though, she and her cubs were never that desperate. How many orcs were here this time? A horde? A lot? Urgi wasn’t great at counting but in the brief moment she had to look, there were many of them. Well, better start now! She took a swipe at the slobbering beast in front of her with her right paw, tearing a good chunk of his flesh off as she did.

Fali heard the bear give a roar and she shouldered the orc that she was fighting with to knock them onto their back. She swept the foul creatures legs out from behind them with her axe. The sharp blade behind the creatures legs seemed to do the job and it tumbled backwards with a hard thump and the dwarf stomped on the creature. The nasty thing still had some fight in it but it was well on its way to a bloody grave.

As the great beast swiped at him, Sog felt his flesh ripped from his chest. At that moment, he was certain that if he looked down at his ripped chest, he would see his crooked heart revealed, throbbing to an incessant, raging beat.
"The pain! Ai! The pain!", his brain screamed.
It was too much and the rage pulsed in his ears as his heart beat faster. Suddenly he felt the rage burst forth from his wounded chest. Then, he saw a red flash and knew no more. He grabbed the first victim that crossed his path, not caring whether it was friend or foe, and lifting his cruel curved blade, he sliced at them with the might of one possessed...

Fali for her part stomped on the orc once more now that it was down, soon hopefully it would be completely out. It let out a little shriek of pain as Fali broke one of the bones in it's miserable body with a well placed stomp. Of course there were still legs and an arm and a mouth that could do damage on this miserable little orc. At least though it wouldn't be able to wield it's weapon with two hands. Fali checked over her shoulder curious were her allies were and caught sight of one orc cutting into another in bloodlust.

What a terrible way to be. She knew that she had Liggin and even the large bear (Urgi)'s back if it came down to being against orcs.

Sog, through his pain, sliced and diced with all his might. Yet, even with such ferocity being dealt out towards his victim, an orc named (Snak), the victim was not done yet. She kicked Sog's feet from under him. He fell with a crash to the ground. The orc stood over him suddenly, dripping blood on his already blood-splattered body, and spit on him, ready to deliver her own blow. But Sog was mad now, his body so badly mutilated, and he cared not. Turning quickly, he grabbed the other orc's leg and bit down on it as hard as he could. There was a howl from the other orc, who tumbled backwards. Sog rose to his knees, a piece of the orc hung from his mouth. He grunted and croaked out loud.

She knew her opponent wouldn't last much longer, of course it would also mean very much that soon she'd have to find another orc in this massive battle. So far she felt like she was doing fairly well Hurz however clearly was not the orc beneath her boot as struggling feebly scratching at her boots his weapon long lost as she swung down again once more clipping the creatures arm so that it would stop scratching at her legs.

She rolled her head to one side and popped her jaw loudly. The Orc was simply not getting it through his head just how in danger he was. Did Orcs not have a "don't mess with a momma bear" equivalent in their culture? It seemed like it she was going to have to teach him exactly what he should be fearing this morning. It was not the dwarves (though they could be somewhat fearsome in their own right), no. It was her. With a mighty roar, Urgi charged the Orc still standing too near to her den and her cub for her liking, opened her jaws and clamped down on the foul thing's misshapen head.

As he knelt, chewing on a piece of orc flesh (more to distract himself from all his pains than to nourish himself), Sog felt the great beast breath against his neck, then the piercing teeth sinking into his skull. He should have been dead at this point but the teeth had not pierced his brain or any important vein. His 'misshapen head' had been bitten before. His skull was crushed near his ears. All he heard was the roar of his own blood pumping through him. Luckily, Snak who had been near-by laying moaning on the ground, staggered to her feet seeking revenge for her missing piece of leg meat and rushed at both Sog and the bear (Urgi). Sog , his head still lodged in the bears jaws, lifted his crooked blade and slash out for release, cutting Snak and hopefully the beast...

She took a deep breath the orc under her boot smelt horribly, probably because he was so very close to dying that all that was left for him to do at this point was to quit twitching. She decided she would help him along on that mission one last time and sank her axe into his head cleaving deeply into it like one would a log being split for fire wood.

This particular orc was a nasty, gross piece of work. Urgi had the creature within her jaws, but the monstrosity still managed to move around as if he were covered in some god forsaken grease. He tasted like mutton that had been left in the and began to sprout poison mushrooms. Nearly every instinct told Urgi to let him go and take a swipe, but she knew he was too damn slippery, he would find a way to avoid her attacks. She was a massive brown bear, fully eight hundred pounds, but this little insect was more agile than her. No, she was keeping him in her jaws. She just needed to bit down harder.

She pulled the blade of her axe out of the creatures head as it finally went limp and hefted it up retreating slightly so that hopefully she would be able to further help out their cause of getting rid of these nasty orcs and goblins. It looked like Urgi was doing a fine job on her own and Fali didn't overly want to accidentally hit the bear while aiming for a rather squirmy orc so she decided it would be best to find another target. And find one she did. She put her head down and sprinted to her next target now that Hurz was undeniably dead.

The female dwarf was on a roll as she moved on to the next foe to slay a warg, foul yet smart creatures they were. The less there were of those in the world the better the world would be off. Personally she felt like the bear would be better suited to fighting such a creature but she seemed busy trying to bite an orcs head off. A truly noble pursuit really so Fali would do her part as she swung her axe hard hefting it over her shoulder and bringing it down with all of her might onto the back quarter of the warg hoping very much to disable the creature so she could move about it and pick it to bits with less risk to herself.

Sog had hit something with his blade, but what that was he was not sure. All he knew was that the pressure on his head became much more intense. Indeed, the pressure was so intense he felt the bones shift inside his skull. Suddenly one of his eyes appeared through the creature's jaw. It bulged dangerously from the socket. If he did not do something quick to reduce the pressure, his eye would pop, and he and it would be meat for the crebain.
Throwing his blade to the ground, he pushed with his legs using all the might he could muster and tumbled forward attempting to dislodge the bear from his mangled head. He knew of Luck. In a minuscule corner of his mind, where a thin crack had let some light in, he had seen her dancing on the tip of a blade of grass in a white satin gown. But could a creature such as he entice her down in the hopes of a dance? Ai, that seemed almost as impossible as picking a star from the sky to light ones way on a dark night. Yet, there was always, a chance...

Hurz Memorial Post:

So it was that Hurz, daughter of someone from parts unknown, was slain in battle. Many non-orcs never heard of her, let alone know anything about her. Indeed it is a wonder that a historian managed to record her name in the tome of disposable names (now on sale in Mordor). Was it actually her name? What is known about Hurz is that some of her bones broke, she died in excruciating pain, and that the person who slew her was Fali. It was undeniable that Hurz, daughter of someone, was dead, fading from memory like most dreams. But it is also undeniable that Hurz left her mark on the world. Her achievements may not be known by many, but the fact that she was named made her more significant than most orcs in works like the Red Book of Westmarch. But alas, her time was at an end. Eliminated from the living list in Middle Earth.

The warg let out a yelp as the axe came down on it's backside cutting deeply only to have it pull out as the beast spun around snapping angrily at the dwarf that had caused it pain. It's head was met with the broadside of the same axe that had bit into his back, only because Fali didn't have time to draw the weapon back to attack and needed to make sure that the beasts teeth didn't find purchase in her flesh as a wargs bite wasn't just painful it was disgusting and dirty and there was a good chance if she did get bit by the beast she'd end up dead eventually just from the infection.

And miraculously, he felt the pressure lessen, and his eye did not pop from his head. He was floating in the arms of the Lady Luck as she waltz him across the grass, his ragged dirty feet, brushing softly across its verdant lushness that stretched to the steely sky, a swath of green and grey. Then he fell from her arms and knew no more except for the pungent scent of the bear that was lodged for free in his snotty nose.

Sog's escape to oblivion did not last long, mere seconds it would seem. The sound of battle soon reached his ears once more. As his bloodshot eyes focused, he saw the great bear not far from where he himself lay on the blood stain field. The creature had suffered a few good slashing from his orc blade, and it may have gotten the wind knock out of it when the tumbling had occurred, but hardly enough to keep it at bay for very much longer. Getting to his feet, his mishap head leaking blood from the many holes left by the creatures teeth; his severed arm hanging lifeless at his side, he felt his survival instincts kicking in. Silently he approached the creature and without hesitating kicked it as hard as he could then turned and ran like hell into the melee, snarling and hitting anyone that got in his way, looking only for an escape.

The warg did its best to make sure that Fali couldn't get a clean hit he wasn't giving up without a half decent fight. All he was doing however was making his death take longer as Fali was hacking him to bits rather than landing a good clean hit into its jugular or its cranium. It let out another yelp as it got another chop right on it's greasy snout as it tried to snap at her leaving it mostly defenseless as it's upper part of it's snout was shattered with the blow.

Sog was exhausted by the time he saw the river (Kibil-nâla) . His severed limb burned like a taskmaster's brand. If he could soak it in the cold water, he might be able to stop the poisonous spread that was causing him to shiver and ache uncontrollably.
Loping along with his many injuries, the distant sound of fighting beating on his feverish eardrums, he was suddenly hit from behind. He fell forward and instinctively rolled onto his back. Looking up, he just had time to roll before, Snak, her teeth bared dove at him (weakly for she had lost much blood) with her knife raised ready to stab at his throat. Having escaped the bear ( for the now) Sog was not ready to die at the hands of a vengeful she-orc. Lifting his crooked muscular legs, he kicked out and clipped her in the side of the head. Not a killer move, but it did send her tumbling of balance.
Moving as quick as his sick body allowed him, he got into a fighting stance and waited for her to gain her footing.

The warg was still trying to fight but it was already very much a losing game in terms of health. Fali didn't have to wory about the wargs mouth anymore now she needed to take out the wargs front paws so that it wouldn't be able to scratch at her. She swung her axe hard and took a sizeable hunk out of the wargs front leg bringing it crashing down unable to balance on two good legs.

Fali had a strange feeling someone? Something? She wasn't entirely sure she glanced around the feeling of being watched made her miss a fatal blow and the Warg let out a whimper of pain and she almost wanted to apologize to it, after all she knew wargs knew common tongue the cunning beasts they were. But that was crazy. She had half a mind to ask it if it could smell what was watching them but that also seemed a bit foolish. She looked around the warg all but dead trying to figure out who or what was watching her and her battling but she could see nothing for the moment. "Strange." She muttered.

She used her sleeve to wipe the blood from her face that strange feeling of being watches had not left her yet and she was not entirely certain where it came from. She glanced around deciding perhaps it was coming from the crebain that were watching the field. She'd see about getting rid of them next.

Wulfr was slain on this day by Fali. From birth, Wulfr had the uncanny ability to withstand pain and punishment. For years, the warg's main purpose was to be the shield for others, to take blows meant for orcs, crebain, smaller wargs, Dunlendings, Haradrim, Easterlings, Variags, and mosquitoes. Through countless campaigns he saved many lives by simply causing foes to expend so much energy to hew him. Though his fur covered the many scars on his body, Wulfr did it all with a toothy grin. For Wulfr often did smile and appear happy biting and shredding foes into ribbons. But alas, today was the last battle of the warg, and Wulfr will never know how many lives he saved by causing Fali to use so much time. So well known was Wulfr that he was named, a significant feat for most people recorded in Middle-Earth remain nameless. On off-days, the warg would enjoy playing golf with his family, being an expert in the foot put. There were many holes that led to the abyss, after all. He is survived by 30 warg family members, most who remain nameless.

The commotion of war was fantastic to him indeed Bolrag thrived upon it with a screech of glee and a ringing - more like rusty grating if the narrator was terribly honest - leapt into the fray onto the back of a tall pale haired elf. Bolrag cared not for the things name or anything more than they would bleed rather pretty an maybe he could get some dried meat of them later.

Bolrag for his part didn't really have a weapon after all there were so many of them it was rather hard for EVERY goblin to have a weapon, perhaps once he killed this elf he'd have one? For now though he clawed at the elf trying to take out it's eyes as it shrieked and struggled to get away from the smelly dirty little creature with long dirty nails.

'Gah! Take this Snak!' smack 'And this!' crack 'And some of this!' pow, bif, bam, whomp, thump, smash, zowie, bang, whaam. Sog was exhausted by the time he was finished swing his sword, kicking and hitting at the she-orc but, she was down on her knees panting heavily and bleeding. He had no pity for her as he limped quickly away towards the water. He could have finished her off, but his strength was quickly ebbing away. His wounds needed cleansing or he would be an over-cooked lembas wafer (toast).

Bolrag for his part did his best to hold onto the squirmy stick of a creature known as an elf. More than once he was almost tossed off the creature (taking some rather large scrapes of skin from where his nails had dug in with him) Honestly it was like riding an angry spider - but with far less legs. He honestly prefered the spiders.

The elf was weakening and Bolrag gave out a little cry of victory at this as the lanky nasty shiny thing dropped to a knee enough scrapes and cuts and lack of eyes that it couldn't keep it's feet anymore which gave the orc enough strength to actually do some damage since he could put his feet on the ground compared to being piggy backed on the nasty things rear. He made sure to kick it in the back of the knees to keep it down as he looked to see if it had any weapons Bolrag could use against it.

He saw the bully orc atop the elf and his wrath was redoubled. Not that he was particularly fond of elves, for he had met few in his life, but his hatred of orcs was all he needed to come to an allies need. Lifting his red axe (fashioned after the legendary axe of Dáin II Ironfoot ) Liggin charged towards the combatants and knocked the orc off with a hard clip to the head.

Bolrag felt something hit him the adrenaline must have been in control becuase it didn't hurt too much which was honestly shocking since he'd gotten hit with an axe. Apparently it didn't matter at least not right now to Bolrag as Bolrag scrambled back to his feet kicking the elf that was already mostly down anyways after all if he was going to die he was taking the nasty elf with him.

Bolrag found the nasty creatures knife and managed to pull it. The elf didn't like that very much at all and they tussled for a bit Bolrag of course despite being smaller and normally weaker had the advantage of having his vision. The elf most certainly did not which was probably why he didn't try to avoid the very large rock that his head hit on their way down while they were struggling.

The elf knew his life was close to ending. Blue and silver lights flashed behind his damaged eyes. Yet deep down a red spark of life caught at what little fuel was left in his body and brighten for a moment, which gave him some strength when his head suddenly hit a hard surface (rock). His body jerked convulsively and he felt the weight of the creature he struggled with, lessen. He had no weapon, but he still had sense. His best bet now was to run....

The drat nasty thing just wanted to keep breathing and Bolrag wanted no part of that. Absolutely none of it. It did make killing the thing harder now that he was struggling more flopping around like a bone fish. But that wasn't something that was going to stop Bolrag who pulled the elves knife out and attempted to plunge it into the elfs body.

Not yet, his spirit cried! I have lived many years, but I am not weary yet of living. Give me strength to live. I am not weary yet! There is a world outside. There is happiness. I am not ready yet. Then his legs kicked out trying to break through the darkness that engulfed him.

There were more orcs on the battle field then Bolag and Dumag was ready to stab some dwarves. He had is gut sticker as he liked to call it. it was really really good at taking peoples guts and making them bleed which was good in battle. Yes yes it was. With that he found the first Dwarf he could and stabbed him though he was pretty sure he hit his butt instead of the dwarfs gut but it still worked.

Life slowly made its way in. Vitality, pushing, shoving, trying to prevail. A certain stench (Bolrag) no longer hovered about the elf. But now a sweeter, rotten, smell invaded his senses. A she smell. Regardless, he kicked with all his might.

Yes this was good. Dumag was not dead or injured AND he'd stabbed a dwarf and now he was going to stab a dwarf again. Yes this was a good battle. At least as far as he was concerned. He pulled the blade out from the dwarf and stuck it back in the dwarf again with an evil cackle.

Bolrag was miffed this elf was thrashing and kicking and generally fighting far more than he had been when Bilrag had started. "Honestly it's not like you can do much to anyone." Voltage muttered though Snak would probably disagree with that. Bolrag was not Snak though and Bolrag had the elf's knife it was time to use it.

The male orc's stench was back. As well as the familiar scent of his faithful elf blade. But it was in the wrong hands. He could hear the she-orc breathing heavily, and the hateful sound of the blinder, the defiler of his sight. Círer kick and hit back with renewed and sudden unfading strength.

Well poor Snak was gone, Bolrag thought but losses were to be expected in battles with dwarves and elves. OF course he had not expected that the ELF that he was working on killing would be the one to do her in. After all she could still see unlike him. Probably for the best that she was dead, survival of the fittest and all of that not that that was actually a full thought process in Bolrags brain it was more like 'How did that idiot wander into the grips of a blind elf and die?' As he used the elves knife once more on the stubborn thing.
