Minas Tirith City Hall (OOC)
@Burnt Toast - there's not a chance in hell I'm becoming a minion, though I wouldn't expect you to try and turn me - you know it's pointless!
Sometimes one isn't given a choice..
@Arnyn *puts on Saruman mask* So you have elected the way of pain...
*eyes @Winddancer *
*eyes @Winddancer *
*Nods*
This sounds like Winddancer is training you in the minionesque ways, Burnt Toast. After proving a traitor and turning in your tree and stars for the evil eye, I at least would have hoped you'd be seflmade enough not to need training and to figure it out on your own. Where's your pride! I suppose you left it in Gondor! :smiley8:
No training needed with this evil one, he was politely asking for permission to do some "persuading.." so we didn't both grab you..
Gasp! Trying to drag me to the pits or something? I'm missing the old plaza's fencing emoticon now! *inserts two yellow faces going at each other with swords*
Well I guess if you object to going to the Pits so much, Toasty could just "persuade" you here?
Best of luck to him - a grand exercise in futility!
Don't worry Arnyn, I've got your back. I wouldn't let any of these nasty minions drag you off to mordor.
Have at thee Windy and Toasty. En guard.
Have at thee Windy and Toasty. En guard.
*Drags folding chair, sets it up, grabs a bucketful of popcorns. Settles down to enjoy the show*
There, already got me a sworn sword brother :smiley8: Thanks, Turin! *fist bumps*
You have my sword too, Arnyn.
Or... a hockey stick.

Or... a hockey stick.

Shots FIRED!
I like it. We should probably all have a battle.
YES, Pele! Swords and hockey sticks - everything proves useful against these ratty minions!
@Burnt Toast - Yup. Gondorians can trash talk, too. Starting to miss us already, aren't you...?

Miss you? I'm RIGHT HEEEERE. *waves shiny burning Ring around*
Okay, I'll stop bandying words about and go post in the army thread. Good thing on le Nu Plaza one does not have to be in Gondor to do such things. XD

Gotta love NuPlaza <3 And NPCs! Cause I do love posting in Gondor too :)
I'm glad that you do @Winddancer
Many still seem afraid though
Well let's change that! <3
Have you seen any amazing role-play and want to applaud the genius behind it and point at it for everyone to see and say 'wow, have you seen that? Look at that, isn't it great?
Have you recently been impressed with someone's amazing knowledge of lore and the speed in which they respond to queries and are wondering if somehow they are cheating and actually their like a walking encyclopedia like Data off Start Trek, but Tolkien-based?
Are you quietly a little intimated by someone's cunning riddle skills but you want to let them know its ok, you still love them, you're struggling to keep up but are actually really glad they have found someone to exhibit this frighteningly impressive ability!
Is there someone in particular that has made you feel super welcome and listened to you, coached you when you needed a bit of a cinfidence boost, or who made you feel validated and uplifted on the plaza and now you just want to give them a big, massive, digital hug?

Hello all. I have been mostly offline this past week while away from home, but will try to catch up on posting this weekend.
Also, congrats to Arnyn on winning the tournament in the Campian of Rohan. It was fun to follow the events in that thread.

Welcome back!
Thanks, Karis! ^^
@Lantaelen - your free RP post seems really interesting. If you would like someone to join in, I'd be game! I understand this takes place in TA 3018, right before the actual War of The Ring? (before the attack on Osgiliath in June 3018?)

@Galastel where are yooou? You ok??
Oh hey, I didn't think it would garner any interest of that sort! But yes, I would be open to expanding its purview! I was intended to just be a catalog of the things Abrazimir and his family did during the War of the Ring, what little they could do anyways. I understand that though the period of conflict known as the War of the Ring did start after June 3018, there was always some form of constant skirmish or violence between Gondor and its various enemies beyond its frontier. The tale basically is to be a series of mini-adventures dealing with this. I'd be happy to have you, and others, if you like to participate with any of your characters.
The next edition is going to take place at the Lond Col docks, in Belfalas, between Dol Amroth and Pelagir. They would be sailing direct to Tolfalas as mandated. You could perhaps hop in there, if your character was chilling on some stop over or detour while sailing between those great ports (DA and Pelagir) on some other business?
@Lantaelen , if you weren't planning on taking on additional people, or it doesn't work like that in your mind, that's fine! It just seemed like an interesting storyline ^^ if you're sure it's okay, I can def jump in though!
I had no plans to not include people. I just didn't think anyone would be interested!
@Nen I am so sorry I forgot about Lanneth in the library: I have five different lists of places I owe posts to and accidentally left the library off the one I was using most. I’ll get caught up and put a post up today and thereafter endeavour to be more frequent. By all means if you would still prefer to take the character back or find someone else that is fine too; I won’t take offence because I know this story is important to you and my tardiness is my own fault.
@Allafyrefleorhtlig I'm glad it was only because you'd forgotten! I didn't want you to feel pressurised, and so wanted to help give you a way out if you needed out. I know how RL can be so busy, and the plaza ought to be the place we come to relax in and not feel like we 'have' to do something we don't really feel up to doing. Having said that, (and since you've forfeited your chance
) I'd love for you to continue with Lanneth! I was really excited when you understood what I was expecting of her, and it would be lovely if you could truly make her your own.
@Nen My post is up; poor Lanneth. I had an idea that might hopefully catch Lalaith’s attention and immediately warm her to the older women, but then it got increasingly absurd as I roleplayed it out. Needless to say I don’t think Lanneth will be drinking cranberry juice again for a while!
And thank you so much for the reminder, it was much appreciated and definitely necessary. I appreciate you wanting to avoid pressuring me, but I am also very conscious that my memory is atrocious, so I am never going to be upset by a friendly poke now and then

The Great Mathom Mix-up: ån RP Game!
It’s Silas Hardwick’s birthday party! As is the custom with Hobbit birthday parties, there are presents for all and sundry... but there’s been an Accident! Unfortunately, the table with all the presents on has been toppled over by Silas’ new kitten - and she’s torn off all the ribbons with the name labels on too... so nobody knows what might be in each box! There’s only one way to solve this crisis: everybody get stuck in, have some cakes and ale, and start unwrapping presents! Some of them may be Unexpected, but some of them may be delightful surprises!
So come on over to the party, pick a present to unwrap, and help Silas name his rascally kitten! Who will find the most valuable presents, and who will get stuck with the mathoms? Take your chances here!

@Lantaelen , does the ship sailing from Dol Amroth to Lond Col (and then officially Pelargir but in reality Tolfalas) go by a particular name or have a specifically named captain?
Because I could see Arnyn trying to convince the Captain to let her hitch a ride from Dol Amroth on that ship... even though he won't be too willing given the ship won't actually be going to Pelargir... She could be told by the captain she'd have to switch ships in Lond Col and agree to that. Then come upon Abrazimir in Lond Col and join in somehow?

I was going to name the ship and captain in the second installment, which I will hopefully be writing this weekend. Should have all the deets you need. That premise could definitely work! Then get roped into the mission to Tolfalas for some subversive action against the enemy.Arnyn wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 10:09 am @Lantaelen , does the ship sailing from Dol Amroth to Lond Col (and then officially Pelargir but in reality Tolfalas) go by a particular name or have a specifically named captain?

@Allafyrefleorhtlig My post is up! I loved the funny, and pretty colour and picture that you set up at the end of the post. Right now Lalaith is not sure whether she should laugh or be sympathetic or hurry this lady off to the Healing Houses!!Allafyrefleorhtlig wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 3:46 pm @Nen My post is up; poor Lanneth. Not sure where to start with building a new character? Or how to mesh your old Plaza character with the NuPlaza, and how you've grown yourself in the intervening years? Or does your character keep running into situations you didn't expect and you're not quite sure how they should react?
If so, this is the thread for you!
I've seen a few sneaky folks just posting and skipping this hall, but I wanted to say hello and welcome home!
@Allafyrefleorhtlig Hi, Allacan!...no this isn't a reminder.
I've been diving headlong into two or three characters (here and in Imladris) and am slowly taking to exploring them a little deeper. Here in Gondor, Hirluin has turned out to be the one I'm trying to figure out, and everyone else is just playing a secondary role to enhance his story. This means even Lalaith has become a secondary character that will come onto the scene only if Hirluin's story calls for her presence. Likewise his mother and younger twin siblings. Therefore, I hope you don't mind if we dissolve Lalaith and Lanneth as main playing characters? I suspect, even, that after giving Hirluin a happily ever after, I might close his character's appearance as well. Right now, though, he is fully engaged with the Ranger Corp.
@Nen By dissolve do you mean finish the roleplay entirely, or just drop them down to secondary characters so their roleplay is only a background story?
I hope this isn’t my fault for not engaging enough; I have been desperately trying to tie off loose ends in Rohan leftover from the Festival that *should* have finished four weeks ago!!!, with the aim that once that was tied off I can commit more time to Lanneth, but now I am also involved in chasing down an assassin in Eldrith’s long-burning Black Hands plot and that is turning out to be a very time-sensitive story. Truth told you have been patient enough with me the last couple of months and it wouldn’t be fair for me to ask for another chance.
I have to start being honest with myself and admit that the best I could manage as Lanneth is probably a post a week, definitely a post a fortnight (and I will make sure I meet that deadline, the only reason I didn’t this week is because my phone deleted a post just before I sent it and I got a bit upset). If that is too little for you to feel like you can engage enough and you’d rather call it off entirely or reclaim the character then I completely understand. But I also really want to keep RPing at least the Library story and see how that plays out, I just don’t want to stymie your other storylines by keeping you waiting.

@Allafyrefleorhtlig To be honest, it isn't because you are unable to post more than once a week, Allacan. I completely understand. I think I want to take advantage of the fact that you haven't had time to get into Lanneth's character as yet. I'm finding I don't want to pursue Lalaith's story. I currently feel up to dealing with only one main character in Gondor.
I've gone and got myself involved a great deal in Imladris, and I've a whole family tree of elves that I'm playing in different timelines, and working out their backstory is proving quite time-consuming. Since Hirluin's storyline is very simple, I figured I would concentrate on his alone. Lalaith's story needs a lot of history, and I'm not sure I'm up to reading Numenorian history and how her family might have been massacred and so on and so forth.
So, yes, I'd meant to dissolve their roleplay. But we could do that after the Library RPG. I'd love to continue that too!
I hope you aren't upset. I just want to take advantage of the fact that we're still only touching our toes to the water, so to speak.
As you can tell, I haven't committed to Lalaith as yet either.

@Nen So let me get this straight; you got yourself involved in loads of exciting but complicated stuff in Imladris and I got myself involved in loads of exciting stuff but complicated in Rohan and now we both realise we don’t have the time, energy and enthusiasm we hoped to have to commit to developing these characters. And so we want to put them on a ‘pause’ while we go do the fun stuff that is currently inspiring us.
I think maybe we are both in the same boat and didn’t realise it!
How about we finish the library story in the next few posts as simply the first interaction between Lanneth and Lalaith and then the women go their separate ways? That way we finish the scene without fleshing them out too much or solidifying a relationship. And if at any point you want to pick them back up (either alone or with help from myself or another) then you are still at liberty to do so.
Honestly, that sounds like you are throwing me a lifeline, and it would be a relief to me if that’s what we decide on

@Allafyrefleorhtlig That's pretty much it! I think you've pulled us both out of the maze!
So yep! Let's go ahead with the Library posts, Allacan, and keep that a relaxed memorable interaction between the two women. And I believe the lifeline is for both of us, by the looks of it!

*RUNS THROUGH THE HALL AND YELLS WILDLY*
*blinks* where did your red eye go, @Pele Alarion? Yes, I don't come to Gondor much but I saw it!
