Bucanneers of Belfalas II - OOC/Signups (TA RP)
And you call yourself a Gondorian, @Nessa Saelind !?! *shakes head in despair*
@Tharmáras We're more trying to distract them than actually fight them... AND I'm not allowed to play with Black Sam's psychological warfare on here where we all strip nekkid and attack with cultasses (that goes well over PG 13) so burning the barracks and the store house it is!
@Ercassie - You're welcome to post trying to stop us! We'd love some IC resistance! (And I promise we won't actively maim you... maybe light wounding/pummelling.

@Ercassie (Didn't tag right apologies) on the last post
*Snuggles Dol Amroth* Remember we are a ragtag band and we are surrounded by knights
.
Light wounding and distractions sounds good, Fuin
!

I'm on the laptop, but briefly because everything hurts and I'm dying.
Delightful.
So here's what I was thinking regarding the arson: I'll start with the assumption that there's central storage for a fleet of the Gondorian navy in Dol Amroth that contains masts, sails, oars, ropes, barrels for holding fresh water and all manner of other equipment. If the Buccaneers burn this warehouse down not only do we divide the troops of Swan Knights, but we also hinder or delay the pursuit because if the barrels for keeping freshwater burn down the ships can't leave sight of land.
(I am so pleased that I can finally use everything I learned by reading Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City
)
@Tharmáras - I never mentioned we'd burn Dol Amroth, just things mentioned above.
@Ercassie - "You can tell a lot about a place by how they treat their people." and my Pelargir characters have a rather complicated relationship to patriotism. Will be seen when I actually sit down and start writing the In Memoriam thing with Morana and Roderic, but that discussion is for another thread entirely.

@Fuin Elda, Alas, my posting list is far too long already. I shall merely count my lucky stars that my Dol Amroth characters live in their coastal estate, safely miles away from the harbour and unable to bear witness to whatever you end up wrecking there.
@Nessa Saelind, I do hope Morana and Ilisys never meet. That is all I can say on that score
A rag tag with NOTHING to lose and everything to gain that makes us HIGHLY dangerous. AND lets face it no way there are enough knights there to take down basically 2 ship crews worth of pirates/umbarians. A sloop is at least 16 men to run well (8 is minimum and it's sluggish, 16 the rigging gets dealt with more effectively but no cannons 44 is prime 75 is max)... I assume the flag ship will be at least a Heavy Frigate type class and to sail 32 (/16112/200) so I mean.... WE really can pack a punch with those numbers (And I feel like the main ships was also a light Frigate @Tharmáras ...at least not enough directly at the hanging...
So minimum number in total at this escapade will be 50 is my guess...
@Nessa Saelind Indeed we could even have a group of NPCs currently off setting fire to things if we want like Morana's brother possibly?

@Ercassie - you never know, they might or they might not
and I don't think Morana's views on patriotism would be the first thing they would discuss
@Fuin Elda - that sounds great.
I'm not sure about Morana's brother(s), they are otherwise engaged, but someone else from her family or relatives could be a part of the crew that is working on it.
@Fuin Elda - that sounds great.
@Nessa Saelind Absolutely I'm not sure where everyones extra characters are I know where the ones actively playing in BoB are currently but this gives us a bit more freedom as those characters can also very much disappear into the shadows of Dol Amroth instead of getting on a pirate ship if desired.
@Fuin Elda if memory serves me right, we didn't have many extra characters, and everyone that was mentioned so far is either on the square outside the Prince's castle - heading to the docks or in the observation hall of Imrazôr's crown heading to the docks hopefully
So if everyone's OK with this diversion arson thing the two of us can create a few NPC crew members and we can later decide if they want to keep them on board, have them killed, captured or disappear into the underbelly of Dol Amroth's underground

That is certainly doable! I can even possibly bring Umoya in she is after all Haradrim and could easily come in with the Umbar/Corsair Crew. Then I don't even have to overly come up with anyone... as she is certainly a TA character
@Fuin Elda - oh do bring Umoya! I think she would be a fascinating addition however long you decide to keep her.
I shall be keeping her for a good long while She's my primary MOrdor playing character so working on her back story etc and also getting her 'traveling' a bit.
Ha! Summer is here and time for another round of pirate adventures.
Loved your new post @Fuin Elda
great to see pirate solidarity in action. I'll try to have a post up by Sunday, I need to do Morana's POV at the docks and I need to introduce old Kleon Ashford
an old pirate quartermaster, I just haven't figured out which ship he's quartermaster of, but minor details
Ohhhh Man @Nessa Saelind I can't wait to see what you come up with Sunday (feel free to have Kleon Ashford interact with Ruindil) if you like like either as members of the same ship or different ships as I feel the interactions could be absolutely priceless.
I posted the 1st part of my planned post, because my brain melted in this heat
and honestly if I waited for the brain to restart itself nothing would get posted. Part 2 aka the fun part where Ashford and his 10 most loyal crew members infiltrate and burn down the central navy storage coming soon to the BoB thread near you
In the next 3-4 days or so, depending on how much quiet time I'll have when I get home from work.
Hi, mind if i join?
Character Name: Devedir Faervel, Aka Daedhelion Ôlven, or, if anyone wants to help me come up with a cool pirate name for him, you'd earn my eternal gratitude and a chest of imaginary treasure*

Position: Sailing Master
And:
Character Name: Trevadir Faervel
Position: cabin boy? Learning the ropes of piratehood
Activity: high! Especially at night
*You can always reach me on discord with any name suggestions or whatever

These look great feel free to jump in you can either pretend you've always been part of the group making for the ship or you can write joining up with us however you like on the dock itself!
@Rillewen if it will help you with some plotting I managed to find Ye Olde BoB OOC/Sign Up thread from the Wayback Machine a while ago where @Fuin Elda made a summary of what happened in the 1st Buccaneers of Belfalas. Unfortunately, the original RPs were lost aka the links can't be accessed... But we work around with what we have. If you need any help inserting your characters in, they can be part of Ashford's crew who infiltrated the navy central navy storage and are in the process of burning shire down (post in progress) P.S. my dyslexic arse read that Trevadir Faervel was learning the ropes of priesthood and I was like OK that's going to be fun
then I've read again
@Fuin Elda when you get to it could you please add Kleon Ashford to the crew list as a quartermaster? I need to finish that post, but I have been swamped with work at the office (I'm working alone and there's always a shire ton of work at the end/beginning of the month) and I can't find the time to write before the weekend

Lol that's hilarious, @Nessa Saelind ! Priesthood lol.
Actually I've got a little bit in mind. I can chat more easily on discord though, if you like?

Sure, feel free to bombard me (ha! look at me with the puns today
) with ideas
Cancel Trevadir, in light of new information as to the timeline, I realized he wouldn't be with his dad yet, lol.
All right @Nessa Saelind and @Rillewen I've updated the crew roster to include our quartermaster and sailing master I have left out Trevadir due to timeline conflicts.
I look forward to seeing your character in action Rill!

Chatting with you buccaneers on Discord I was reminded that it might be a grand idea to actually post here what year this RP is set in and how it was calculated
Without further ado, I present to you: This is all @Tharmáras fault aka how the year was set unknowingly
The timeline information we had that BoB was set late in the T.A. When I went to go searching in which year this was set, nobody was sure. Aig assumed it was T.A. 3014, like the rest of Imladris, Fuin thought the answer was in one of Aig's quotes. Turns out none of it was true, for the answer was hidden away in Aig's post.
However!
T.A. 2980
shire that happens in T.A. 3010

Now for updates. Sometime today I'm going to finally finish and post in BoB as Ashford, the quartermaster, in which we will (hopefully) see what the crew was doing and how the docks were set on fire. I've talked to @Fuin Elda, and by talk I mean I just landed into her DM and said can I set the docks and ships on fire and blockade the port? and Fuin was like, erm sure, why not.
so that's happening. @Rillewen if it will make things easier for you in my post I can say that Ashford reached out to Daedhelion for help to get some information or something and he decided to join in, so you can just respond to my post and join in. If that works for you?

So the part I bolded here over 30 years ago gives us the solution to this "problem" nobody cared about because really we're all here to have fun, steal some treasure, burn down the docks of Dol Amroth and sail into the glorious sunset.
T.A. 2980
- Thorongil (Aragorn) with the leave of Ecthelion II, attacks Umbar, destroys the fleet and kills the Captain of the Haven.
- Thorongil leaves his companions at Pelargir and goes on alone for other tasks. His adventures end.
shire that happens in T.A. 3010
- Death of Adrahil II of Dol Amroth.
- Imrahil, son of Adrahil II, becomes the twenty-second Prince of Dol Amroth.

Yeah, we talked about it on Discord, I'm sorry
.
@Tharmáras 's alright mate
It's your "fault"
but it's not your fault because nobody really thought about this until we needed to
By the by @Ercassie pointed out that Adrahil II could have died as a result of fighting to prevent the Buccanneers from escaping or that he was caught in the massive fire at the docks? What does everyone think about that suggestion? Shall I add killed the Prince of Dol Amroth (unintentionally) to Ashford's list of things he regrets doing? Killing a Doge's son is already on the list so...

I mean I say we kill him having figured out that we are a rag tag group of at least 50 actively working to steal 2 ships not including those that are currently causing absolute chaos in the warehouse not associated with either ship I highly sought the number of knights would be up to a full on assault from within.
Yes there would have been a number at the hanging they're cut down at this point so theyre neutralized as a whole and that would probably be about 20 total for guards and assume half are down. One can also assume there are another bunch stuck on wall/gate watch that can't just abandon post...
I'd say Adrahil II would likely try to lead his men to stop the destruction of the Navy ships themselves and commands anyone not in that fight to see to the fires. I don't see him being the sort to not fight for his Navy.

Also I think I know why Bar en Raneara now exists haha
Apologies, my post will be a teeny-tiny bit late, because the laptop acted up during the weekend
- my biggest chunk of free time to write. Since I now work more then usually, I only have an hour or so to write during the workweek, but I'll get there quick, promise
I figure that if the leader of Dol Amroth were trapped in fire or otherwise struck down during the skirmish, the numbers on either side of the clash would matter little. Priorities amongst the knights would probably shift with almost immediacy toward safeguarding/assisting their compromised leader. Which gives you a window of opportunity to take full advantage of.Fuin Elda wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 5:19 pm I mean I say we kill him having figured out that we are a rag tag group of at least 50 actively working to steal 2 ships not including those that are currently causing absolute chaos in the warehouse not associated with either ship I highly sought the number of knights would be up to a full on assault from within.
Not to mention an inevitable guarantee of hostilities to later pursue you/exile you/etc.
That makes perfect sense @Ercassie and would absolutely lend to the devil's story of Mylien and company and give the Knights something .ore i.portant to deal with especially if he wasn't killed outright but wounded
hey guys. I still plan to add Devadir in, I just didn't have a lot of time to plan how to toss him in there. Maybe this week I'll manage it! :D
@Ercassie -
great minds etc.
When I was thinking about this situation it made more sense to me that Adrahil II was gravely injured at the docks as the Buccaneers are trying to escape.
I just have to figure out a reason why would the Prince and his heir be at the docks at that time...
Currently, I have 2.4 brain cells left so I'm not making much sense
Hopefully a solution will come to me by the weekend when I'll finish writing my post and actually posting it. Work has been hell this week, hence the 2.4 functioning brain cells

An awesome entry into BoB @Rillewen
I really loved the post, but especially this part.

I really liked how in just a few sentences you sketched Ôlthion's internal struggle and really made me interested in the characterRillewen wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 10:35 amÔlthion reacted quickly when the fighting broke out, trying his best to assess who were the foes and who were merely innocent bystanders caught in the middle. For a moment, he was busy escorting some of these out of harm's way, and that was when he heard explosions, and then the young Knight was torn. Should he return to the fight, or investigate this new trouble? Smoke and flames rose into view, and he called the alarm, "Fire on the docks! FIRE!" He yelled, rushing back toward the others. Which was more important, he wondered.. stopping the pirates, or saving the ships?
The whole post was honestly absolutely fantastic @Rillewen As well as the struggle of Dev to keep his composure so that he doesn't kill Olthion. just... beautiful I love it I am holding off on replying because I really want to see Ness's Quartermaster make an entry before we push a bit further and hopefully start looking at taking one of the ships.
:D Thanks, I'm glad you guys liked it. I've never actually played Olthion before lol. I just met him, and I'm still getting to know Dev so it was sort of an exploratory thing for me :D
By the looks of things, my response is coming tomorrow. I planned to finish today, but Pride is this afternoon and I'm going and that's the day gone for me
Luckily for everyone involved I don't have much left to type, the tricky part is to order everything so it's plausible and makes sense - for which I need brain power.
Which is in short supply at the moment
Hey guys just so everyone is aware @Tharmáras and I had a talk and he's going to be stepping back as co-gm - in my next post I"m going to get us to the ship itself - anyone that wants to post getting the ship ready to go I"ll give that a few weeks and then we will be on our way officially into the wild adventures ahead of us. You're welcome to use this time to continue fighting, stealing goods from other ships near by (food water, ropes weapons whatever), or physically removing Navy sailors from the ship and tossing over the railings.
What I want to know can someone *cough* "bore holes three" in the Admiral's flagship and sink her in the harbour?
LOL we'll see what happens the Admirals flagship isn't our biggest concern atm as we know Kfir is thieving it even if we don't overly see it being posted (or at least not for now until @Tharmáras can post.Nessa Saelind wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 5:23 pm

He will enjoy bringing it home although he won't enjoy finding what awaits him there...
@Fuin Elda - I was wondering if the idea was on the table because I wrote that Ashford divided the crew into groups that were assigned various tasks to create maximum chaos and divert the Dol Amroth forces
So I thought this could have been one of the tasks they could do.
I wasn't really specific about the assignments in the post, because I wanted @Tharmáras to have a say too and if he wanted to do something about the ship himself.
BTW does anyone need more information about The Company? It's Middle-Earth's version of VOC. I have a structure in mind and The Company will appear outside BoB, and they might even play a significant part in BoB depends on what we agree on.

@Nessa Saelind I think the flag ship would be off the table - simply because the crew knows that Kfir is going for that one that was part of the deal - that and the flag ship is a slow ship (with way more fire power) where the Sul is much faster. Perhaps they'd go after the Navy's fastest ships? Those would probably be the biggest threats to the Sule compared to the flag ship.
@Fuin Elda - honestly, I wasn't really sure if all the crew knew that the flagship was Kfir's payment for helping Mylien and Eliad escape? I left it ambiguous in my post, but I hope I managed to stress that Ashford doesn't give a fig about Kfir's desires or plans
He sees the Admiral's flagship as a threat that needs to be neutralised, regardless of who in the end takes control of the ship.
So maybe a group of pirates under Ashford's orders can swim to the flagship and try to drill holes in it, but fails because they were noticed? It can even serve as a distraction so Kfir and his men can easily board the flagship? What do you think @Tharmáras ? Does this help you?
Oh, and by the by not every part of Ashford's plan needs to or should succeed. Some parts can totally fail and pirates could barely escape or could be captured... Whatever works best for the plot and whatever is most interesting to write

I've been so busy in RL and writing in other places on the site thst I need to read a lot of Buccaners before I answer any questions here. I'll begin tonight after work
.
Edit: I'm beginning my Buccaneers reading now. Concerning the flagship, I would like to make Kfir's exit upon it in my next post because I want to start concentrating my focus on Taylus and Matt for the remainder of the RP. Due to my full time work hours in RL and long RP list for Imladris and Gondor and soon the Cottage, I won't be able to write Kfir majorly for Buccaners; it's easier for me to have him be removed from the plot quickly by vacating on the flagship after a small talk with Taylus as he helps him and Matt get aboard the Sule.
Lastly, I will need to mention now that it's been my intent for months to have Taylus vanish from the plot in some way as we reach the end of this Buccaners RPG. I will show his character ending in the Ever On: The World Beyond Free RP in the Imladris Forum at some point following his disappearance in this Buccaneers sequel; that being said, I'm keeping his destination a secret for now.
I'm not sure yet if Matt will go missing with him but sometime I will need the Hobbit to part ways with the Buccaneers which even happened on Old Plaza though never explained; he and his cousin, Pam Clearwater, had become friends with Aigronding on the former site. I need to show on New Plaza how he eventually settled in the Shire; in the Brewery thread in the Shire Forum and in Imladris Forum Free RPs he's present in TA 3014 Eriador.

@Tharmáras Honestly since you know the basic plot perhaps they can exit stage left at the next 'stop' that way you don't overly have to worry about the RPG for too much longer? Granted it's still a little bit just due to the speed of posting but that would make it so you aren't waiting for forever to get them out of the story and onto their next adventures.
@Tharmáras - I think I agree with @Fuin Elda on this one.
By your own admission your RL job eats a lot of your day, and you do have a rather long list of posts to write for people in Imladris and Gondor, and not to mention all the threads in Imladris you are the TR and need to monitor and give GM updates... And since you did mention your plan for the start has been that Taylus vanishes... Maybe it would be a good idea to do that sooner, rather than later.
Please, don't take this the wrong way - it's not that I, or anyone else here is shooing you away, it's just with your work and writing load it makes no sense to commit to more things you can't really get to... And it wouldn't be fair that we pressure you to write and participate and prolong your other obligations, nor for us to have to pause BoB until you can make it. Unfortunately, because the situation is what it is, I think Fuin's suggestion that your characters exit at the next stop or maybe even have Taylus vanish now in all the commotion if that's more convenient for you, would be the best possible option.
I wish you had more time for us
, but sometimes RL is what it is.
Thanks
. If I were to leave the RP in my next post with all three characters, may I still have Kfir take the flagship and use it in stories of mine in the Free RP areas?
@Tharmáras absolutely you are welcome to take the ship with kfir Matt and Taylus. I would rather see you having fun than trying to drag yourself to post in something you just don't have time for and not fully enjoying it
@Tharmáras - if you need any help from us in setting up something so it would be easier for your character to leave or you need help/explanation of anything let us know
so we can help with this.
And I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to Taylus whenever you get to writing it.
