What was that about plotting, @Pele Alarion ? Should I plot of Beren being custodian captain of the Rangers while you're on vacation?  Joking, I assure you :smooch: .

lol... For once I have a long list and trouble catching up with everything. Bird watching and such to blame... But the weekend is coming, so I might hunt down some posts! Just yell at me @Nessa Saelind if you need anything ASAP or somesuch.

@Tharmáras Are you trying to get me to the point of challenging you to a duel? :fence:

Can I just clean chamberpots or make Pele's dinners at the Commons instead in penance :headshake:  ?

 @Nessa Saelind. :smooch:

I did start my post for Nal to show up for training but got distracted as I had to check where the Healing Houses are in relation to the Rangers HQ. Since Commons OP says that is on the First Circle but the Northern Fiefdoms OP says that the military HQ is on the Sixth Circle. Poor young lad got very confused and lost and has clearly stopped to ask for directions since then ! Honestly I do owe a few MT posts now so as soon as I’ve kicked up the longest owed in Imladris, I shall be about it here. You don’t need to see my list.

@Pele Alarion @Tharmáras ”Duel ! Duel ! Duel ! For honour ! For Gondor ! For sheer amusement !” :headbang:

@Ercassie *dies laughing* Awkward :embarrassed:

Theoretically in the 6th circle, we have, and I quote from the Northern Fiefdoms OP
The Garrison of the Gondorian Army: Lower and Upper Barracks: The lower barracks contains stores, supplies, mess halls and some dorms. The Upper Barracks contains the Headquarters' of the Gondorian Army and the ranking officers’ chambers. There is a war-room here but often the war-room in the Tower of Ecthelion is used in its stead.
While the Commons say, and I quote
A large stone building surrounded by a cluster of others is situated in the north of the first circle, encompassing a large square courtyard. This is home to the Rangers, who serve and protect both the city of Minas Tirith and the lands around it.
So apparently we have The City and The City situation (Miéville fans will recognise the reference) or both the army and the rangers are active in Gondor at the moment  and have different HQ. Fantastic!

@Nessa Saelind, the last advice I got was to assume that the army barracks on the sixth circle has been locked up since the War/establishing by Aragorn of our current Rangers situation. Probably a military museum or something now !

I expect the OP there was copied over from an old plaza thread from when army was still active, whereas @Pele Alarion gave us a Nuplaza updated commons thread only recently. So I guess Nal has a whole six circles of distraction to pass now on his way up to the Healers. Who knows what stories/state he shall bring with him by the time he arrives.

Wait, what?  It didn't even occur to me that there are differences in the threads. Would go back to the sixth circle in a heartbeat, I even think I've been posting as if the barracks were on the sixth circle, just out of habit, now that I think of it. Anyway... I'm too sleepy to see if this can be sorted, have been watching too many SAS episodes, and now it is 0:32.

Well there has to be the war in the East and South mentioned in Appendix A and Letters (I have quotes to present tonight when I'm home) which needs to happen, led by Aragorn and Eomer. I'll be showing this in AoA.

The dueling ground must be out of the White City so Beren doesn't suffer humiliation.

Well that sounds as valid a cause for me to delay at least my healer training post until this is sorted out ! :mwahaha:  :smooch:

Actually, this is pretty amazing advice! If the old HQ turned into a museum or a military school of sorts it can be used for marking Remembrance Day... That is if people don't decide to sync things :winkkiss: So many ideas! And so many distractions for poor Nal  This will be an epic in the telling, you need to write this level by level! I'll pay you with chocolates! :smooch:

@Tharmáras by the time AoA reaches the 4th age we'll all be retired  and our descendants will write that  so let's not get ahead of ourselves  :winkkiss: (I am, of course, teasing you. Fret not. :smooch: )

My AoA goals remain, @Nessa Saelind , even if I have to pass them to my child like David entrusting Solomon with the First Temple 🤣🤣🤣🤪⚘.

@Tharmáras  well  Since I'm not having kids in the foreseeable future this is one legacy less I have to worry about  Besides, even if I were to have kids they'd probably appreciate if I keep this to myself  but I'll leave the light on for you and your descendants, you never know  OK, you don't have to kick me out, I know where the door is

1) Added ranks to the roster.

2) So what to do with that first/sixth circle? Suggestions? I figure the Fiefdoms thread has not been updated (pre-Rangers) and can't do much about it either. But as I said, I wouldn't mind fixing OP of Ranger thread to add the sixth circle instead of the first. Don't think I ever properly wrapped my mind around the first circle...

As far as the Circle/location query goes, part of me thinks it would actually make a lot of sense to have the military up on the Sixth Circle, to make it easier to protect the Royal folks residing in the Citadel on the Seventh Circle. And how many of us RP'd walking/skidding all the way down through the circles to set out on our current Ranger mission ? *raises hand*

Though of course, a strong presence on the first circle, near the main entrance to the city sort of makes sense too, from a security point of view. And of course, there is the ebil part of me which kind of wants to see Beren try to carry an unconscious but still armoured Ilisys up all that way up from First to Sixth Circle to see the healers ! He will be lucky to not require medical assistance himself if he does manage it :googly:

 roster looking good @Pele Alarion

Regarding the location, I agree with @Ercassie that it makes more sense for the Rangers HQ to be on the 6th level. However, in the spirit of why not both  it would be sensible if the Rangers had a building on the 1st level. Maybe the training grounds and the armoury no. 2 could be on the 1st level? There's certainly more space there and you don't have to shlep all your gear from the 6th level to the Pelennor fields if you want to do some heavy-duty training there.

These are just my musings, since I'm not a stakeholder you don't have to listen to me.

*also raises hand about having slipped and slid from top to bottom IC * I also recommend the Sixth Circle for guarding the royals 👑 but more so because I'm eager to soon write gallant Beren mightily carrying armored Isys from the First Circle to the Sixth in the Healing House thread 💪 :winkkiss: then receiving care for his arduous herculean labor. It would be an epic feat her characters and mine could have fun reminiscing about and it would be praised by at least my NPCs in the Free RPs 😎. There's no telling what Eressild, her lady mother, will think however

Greetings, friends! Hope all is well.

I, who once upon a time was named Malora, have returned to the Plaza as Rune Eisahn! It has been a while but oh! it's good to be home. I've finally got my character sheet all finished and posted, so I'll be posting here (and everywhere) soon.

As I'd like to join the Rangers again, I imagine that I need to make a post in the Headquarters thread?

Welcome back @Rune Eisahn! I'm so happy you found your way back! I, for one, support this "post everywhere" strategy wholeheartedly

As far as joining the Rangers goes, I assume that all you need to do is RP arrive at the Ranger Commons with you character and state your request. That's all they made me do so I assume that's all anyone has to do.

Again, welcome back!!

@Rune Eisahn , glad to see you back! You might remember me as Aigronding, Edan Amrun, or Beren Camlost! I write as all three still. Looking forward to writing with you again!!

 You were held at swordpoint (since gunpoint wasn't an option, apparently we haven't reached the have gun, will travel stage of development in Middle Earth  ) and made to arrive at the Ranger HQ (which still has a double location  ) and enlist.

As far as joining the Rangers go @Rune Eisahn , the OP of Ranger Commons II states that
Here, you may:
· Ask to be enlisted in the Rangers
(...)
How do I train?
1. Sign up to the Rangers with your name, weapons and armor. (...)
2. Once acknowledged, you may join in the storylines in the Ranger Commons or new campaigns. A mentor may be assigned or requested, with whom you can work on training individually or in the context of a campaign.
Hope this helps (and welcome back and well met ^_^), but just in case I'll tag the commander-in-chief @Pele Alarion of all the mischievous Rangers of Gondor (technically Reunited Kingdom, but who's keeping count {me, the resident public notary/scribe/historian apparently  }).

@Rune Eisahn I remember you! :) And the above instructions are correct; just come by the Commons, mark that you are at HQ and want to sign up.

Yeesh, I've been meaning to write this for days now. Working 3rd shift is a blessing and a curse

I do remember you, @Tharmáras! Wow, it's been so long since I've sat and thought of all three of those characters at once. Good times. Hope you're well; can't wait to write with you again, too.

@Pele Alarion I remember you, too

Good, good *evil finger clacking/typing ensues*

@Draugän Nuruhuinë, as per Rping as an Elf in Gondor, of course you can. It is the Fourth Age and Elves are welcome, not to mention more likely than they ever were to visit before the War of the Ring. We have a Half-Elf on the throne after all.

As regards to whether you can RP as an Elf as a part of the Rangers of Gondor, well, I know we do have some existing members whose characters are at least part-Elf. But I think the original rule was that the character had to at least be a resident of Gondor so that it made sense for them to have joined the organisation.

That said, this is Nuplaza. So let's see what our new Ranger leader @Pele Alarion has to say about it.

@Draugän Nuruhuinë Exactly what @Ercassie said!

If an Elf has a very good reason to become a Ranger (not simply for adventuring purposes or anything other trivial, suppose), I don't think there's any grounds to refuse?

Hi guys, sorry I've been AWOL for a while, work caught up with me and basically forced me into working a 55hr week, so there is a reason for my rudeness haha! Is the RP Osgiliath still going on, or has it been essentially abandoned?

I'm going to try to read all the new updates in the Headquarters though to see what's been going on and hope to make up for my absence.

As a fellow worker who every summer works 50+ hours a week, I'm sending all the support your way @Dunulf and I hope some vacation days will come your way soon.

The Hunters and the Hunted RPG is still on, activity is a bit slow, because summer in the Northern hemisphere and everyone who can take a computer break and head out to the beach or some sort of shade and escape the heat did so (I hope). This is the latest update in The Hunters RPG you are in Group 2, so I hope this will help you with catchin up.

Good to see you, @Dunulf! Vacation can also make for slow posting, you see? ;) RPG is slow-moving, but I hope it'll continue, even if slow. For the rest of it: as @Nessa Saelind says!
