Where now are the horse and rider? In here, probably.

I keep meaning to post in the Courtyard RPG. I can probably get around to doing that on Thursday or Friday as I really want to be involved. Life is just a little busy right now and oftentimes I'm not in the mood for much writing when I have free time.

Ok, it's Thursday and I'm far too tired to do anything. Adjusting to the new school routine has been complete chaos. And since a couple people want to post, I will give it to Sunday to update.

@Taethowen no problem! Things are slow, so no rush. I"m going to do a mini update for this specific task, then give it another week before giving a new task.

Oh, my amazing Lord! I am so, so, so sorry everyone for disappearing for a month! As usual work has gone crazy and sucked the life out of me. I'm starting to forget what it was like before Covid and I didn't feel like a wraith at the end of every day!

I'm updating the Courtyard and will try to catch up on things!

Sun is out so I am outside too. Not disapeared, only busy with the garden and sun (after the coldest April and May in a generation at least I am properly enjoying June). Will write more soon!

I'm back (I hope) albeit my activity will be somewhat scatty until I get back into a habit of checking in and posting again.

My word you have all been up to a lot - so much to catch up on, but relieved to see I've retained my rank as Grimthain, if you don't mind me joining back up again?

In an attempt to catch up also, congrats @Amadhrill on the promotion to Bealdor, welcome back to @Taethowen, and massive hugs and thanks to @Shivased for single-handedly running the cavalry for a time and co-ordinating the transition to a single Eored - the roster looks great.

@Shivased Sorry I’ve fallen off the rails lately. I’ll try to get caught up with the Courtyard sometime this week. Been on vacation and will be starting a full time job in July, so we’ll see how active I’ll be able to end up being.

Hello! I've had a quite random thought come up I wanted to suggest - I was wondering if there could be a little dictionary of the Cavalry Ranks somewhere (DR? or wherever you think appropriate if you decide it's a good idea) to act as a reference for anyone not as familiar with the Cav as some of us are?

We all know what a hælend, Pæthfindian, Æthelwigend, etc. are, but to anyone else it might be unclear to those less familiar with the Cav that those mean healer, scout, and I'm not actually sure I know best how to define Æthelwigend so I leave that to the experts. If I were new to the Cav and/or Plaza, I think having a little translation or explanation would help me feel more comfortable with the terms.

Again, I'm not trying to butt in with the running of anything and I'm definitely not speaking as an admin but as a member/Cav retiree who wanted to offer the suggestion and you may take or leave it as you see fit!

@Lailyn I feel like @Gwai, @Taethowen and Shiva were working on something like this during their trio-Marshaldom of awesomeness; @Shivased might know more about this but if she isn't around over the next couple of weeks I might be able to go digging on their old Discord server; I'd hate for their hard work to go to waste.

@Shivased was compiling a handbook at one point which was going to include definitions of the different Cavalry ranks. Possibly a list of what each different rank is could be added in the Dragon Room, since that's the first place new folks would be most likely to look for Cavalry things?

Also, so sorry to everyone for my absence (again). A lot of real life stuff has been happening this summer and I've been thoroughly uninspired.

Yup, @Lailyn, I was compiling it. It got put on hold while Covid made work super crazy, but I am slowly getting back into the swing of things and will be getting going on it. I can also put up a description in the DR; I will get that up in the next couple days when I get posting done.

Just to let people know, I'm checking in and trying to find time to post. But my sister is having a baby any day now, a good long-time friend just passed away unexpectedly and I broke my wrist so typing is not easy right now. Apparently life keeps throwing hurdles at me. I hope to get some posts up this weekend, but can't 100% guarantee it!

Ohhh Sorry to hear on the friend and list hopefully the baby makes up for those particular hurdles!

I actually have a WEIRD? sort of question Once upon a time Fuin was a part of the Cavalry of Rohan... and then she 'died' for ten years in a skirmish when she was summoned as a healer in Imladris. I think she was JUST starting training so not very far in... (and I only know this because one of the surviving posts from before she died was her being literally drafted back into the Imladris Host to fight in a massive skirmish and her agreeing to it because what they found would drive into Dunland and cause issues for Rohan.

Was just wondering if she could make a return at some point possibly? Could possibly do a double take - as I think she was given a short leave to go do the healing but that she'd return - so she could be 'court marshalled' or something like that if she were to rejoin the cavalry itself...

If not I could probably think up a Rohirric name and start from scratch (Fuin would be starting from scratch as well so either way) could allow for more drama if wanted to have a 'deserter' brought back in.

@Fuin Elda sure, you can re-join with whatever character you want! We've had a couple other AWOL and deserter riders come back, and we've IC been very lenient. Actually we haven't punished at all except having them re-do training. So there would be no actual need to do a court marshal, but it could be a fun storyline to do...

@Shivased If it is something that would be fun I am ALL for fun and interesting stuff happening. Lailyn knows where Fuin is (she's in the market heck you may see her and go wait a second) and could possibly mention an elf named Fuin is in the market and she can get dragged to the Dragon Room and quizzed on where she has been for like.... 10 + years? (We can possibly figure out more details etc off Plaza to make it more interesting for other Cavalry members that might be about to see the court marshalling?)

I am 1000% okay restarting my training honestly I think I did ONE of my training things with my horse? And I now have new horse. Cause old horse is lamed from battle that nearly killed Fuin.

@Lailyn I mean I DID mention you in my post so hardly you nosing in at all! More like I summoned you eithout a tag so if Shiva is for it we can start the process rolling at any point! I'll be happy to start discuss on discord wherever to get it rolling. (Honestly I'm fine with free form playing it as well)

 sounds good! It could be interesting to test Lail's loyalty between Cavalry and friendship. I'm happy to chat if you want to or just roll with it. If you need anything, you can also pop me a note anytime of course.

@Fuin Elda and @Lailyn I think a court martial would be fun, so if you want to get it rolling, I'm up for it! I can't promise it will be fast, as I have a broken wrist and typing is....not fast, LOL, so I am very behind and slow at posting until I can use all my fingers properly again.

Well @Lailyn feel free to start it whenever you want we've got lots of time!

And no worries @Shivased on the slow typing your healing is more important than speedy typing - you catch up when can and you respond to this newest insanity when you can.

If my brain allows it, I might try to have Éomund at least watch this event. It would make sense that younger members of the Cavalry would be at least aware of a court martial (and perhaps such an event would be used to try and scare the newbies straight).

Replied in the Aerendgewrit to @Lailyn summoning @Fuin Elda! Not my best writing, but I may have tried to go sailing and re-broken my wrist and am in trouble with the doctor, so I just typed what I had and left it at that.

@Pele Alarion no problem, it's summer, it's hard not to be lazy!

@Shivased also I thought it was well written and enjoyed it. I am perhaps less kinds than Lailyn though I hope you heal soon... Does your doctor need me to stand near by with a flyswatter and hit you with it every time you do something silly that might compromise your wrist healing???

@Raisins No fly swatter needed, LOL. I was informed that if I do anything to it again before it heals, he's sticking giant pins in it that will show outside my skin and be very unpleasant. :headshake: I no longer have temptation to do anything to jeopardize the healing!

Ohh that is not good. Glad the temptation is gone. If once you're closer to healed the temptation returns I'll be ready with a fly swatter.

Crazy week and weekends with school starting back up for kids, so will try to get a post up as soon as I have some spare time. Though I don't want to tempt your wrist, @Shivased ! Listen to the doctor or Ama will be sent over  Can't wait to read and catch up on court marshals and all!
