I will give the credit to @Allacan ob Burzum for doing it in some of her posts, which led me to think it was a good idea. But yes, I think it is wise, none here knows what people are dealing with in RL and if you are here because it is a wonderful escape from reality not just because you need a little break from the daily grind, I hope it will give people a little heads up as to the content when it comes to more sensitive topics.
@Pele Alarion , sorry for not replying yet, I am enjoying/suffering of "hey! What is this yellow thing on the sky? Must be in its radience all day and night!" Also known as April and May were terrible and cold and now all I want to do is be outside when I am not working. Either I get over it soon or the weather turns and I will suddenly tag you in the post.
Houses of Healing OOC (planning, etc.)
@Lailyn - firstly thank you for your support for this idea and I hope you and I can work on a HoH story whenever we have a good idea and the time is right
The disclaimer part that we, the authors, are not licenced professionals is a good idea and I think I should include it the Thread guidelines for everything we actually write in the Houses of Healing. As you said, we're all adults here and aware that this is fiction
and most of the material and knowledge of healing we gathered during the years is there for writing purposes, we're not actually medical professionals (that I'm aware of, I'm certainly not one
) and please, please don't use any of this at home kids.
While I'm on the subject and since @Amadhrill is visiting the Houses of Healing IC for learning purposes would you be interested in having an IC discussion/exchange of experiences and information regarding an uptake in PTSD in the population after the War of the Ring? Those issues seem likely to occur both in Gondor's and Rohan's population after the War and it's likely that the healers in both Kingdoms encountered and treated patients suffering from "soldier's heart" as PTSD was called. If this sounds like an interesting storyline I'd love to explore it from this POV. Of course, you can always say no if this is not something you'd like to do or you can't do at the moment. No harm no foul as they say

Lailyn wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 2:46 am One thing I will mention which @Amadhrill so wisely brought up when we waded into this territory with her and Lailyn in the Cavalry Courtyard, is a sort of caveat or disclaimer that you, the author, are not a licensed professional. We're all mostly adults and know this is fiction, but I thought it was a very good point Ama made that I had not thought of. I will leave the idea with you to contemplate.
I did this? I remember putting Content Warnings in some of my posts, if that's what you mean? The wisdom of saying you are not a licensed professional is someone else's genius idea though, I must confess.Amadhrill wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 4:02 pm I will give the credit to @Allacan ob Burzum for doing it in some of her posts, which led me to think it was a good idea. Also, while I am here, @Lailyn and @Nia any idea where Allacan's cursed, comatose body has been deposited? Throughout my 6 month absence from the plaza I have been comforted to think that my beloved, broken main PC can just be lying in a coma-state somewhere cared for by her old friends while she internally battles whatever dark entity has possessed her. I assume her internal battles can be as boring or as visible as any carer/healer likes, and that she has simply slipped in and out of consciousness for a few months while she is being tended to.
Sorry @Allacan ob Burzum, she was given to me for.. purposes..
I was sure it you was you, Ama, but regardless, I thought it was a good point. I'd also agree I think some CW for such things are good but wouldn't expect an exhaustive list of examples.
@Allacan ob Burzum is still unconscious in the alley with Lailyn and @Nia who were hoping to find a healer to help and that's where we left off. Um I think we still have a dead body to deal with, too. She's safe and in good hands and we can pick up wherever you want, skip ahead/agree on off-screen stuff, whatever you want really, I don't mind. She is definitely not with @Winddancer (please note the use of the word healer, not torturer...
) unless of course you would like that to happen in which case I can guarantee Lailyn will be running away very fast but if you meant with Sigrid that would also work if all parties are keen.

I was in equal parts terrified and eager to discover how @Winddancer had gotten her hands on Allacan, but if that is simply her wishful thinking then I am happy to deny her (for now) and have Alla confirmed as in your capable hands.
If you and @Nia are keen to finish RPing the story out in Fields and Forests then you are welcome to, but given it has grown stagnant it may be best to skip forwards to a point where the body of Galulf has been handed over to the authorities (I can maybe speak to @Shivased as Marshal of the Mark about that one) and the other two have taken Allacan to some kind of healing house where she is currently being treated. That way we can jump straight back in with some fresh RP and maybe enable new players to join in (eyes Windy suspiciously).
Allacan is under the influence of a pretty dark spell right now so she won't really have been conscious and compos mentis' she needs something very specific doing about her (coughpossessioncough) ailment before she will be back to her usual self, which may require a bit of puzzle-solving and other PC involvement. Having been spoon-fed in a bed as she lapsed in/out of consciousness for months in the meantime is perfectly legit.

![]()
Joking aside, if you'd like to explore some of Fuin's traumatic experiences, and perhaps the different approaches that elvish healers and human healers would have regarding trauma I'd be very interested to see what we can do and what procedures we can craft![]()
HOnestly the amnesia yes... The rest... well lets just say she has a deeply troubled and traumatic past that has seen her survive two mass slaughters of her kin (up close and personal including loved ones in BOTH events) Trying to deal with a mother that broke mentally due to the first one, and mental manipulation by another person that caused her to snap after the second one... Which I don't think was ever properly dealt with she certainly hasn't told Elrond about it sooo I mean LORDS we could have an unrolling of Fuin's white knuckled ride through life thus far. (Mostly probably because she was there when ELROND WAS A BABY so she's probably going yeah no I'm not dropping my stuff on this kid he had enough issues getting kidnapped that one time by the same jerks that messed me up) NEver mind literally being conscripted into battle by a friend and almost DYING in that battle - aka that NASTY scar on her left side near her heart
@Allacan ob Burzum (welcome back!!
) @Lailyn - would be very happy to pick this up with you both in a healing house somewhere! I'm afraid my time commitment will be a little limited over next few weeks, so I also give you both full permission to do a bit of Nia-god-moding to stop her being stood gormless like a lemon at any point if there's a delay in any posts for me!
@Allacan ob Burzum sure, go ahead! Especially if you want to RP doing so in the Dragon Room. Shiv is bored and sick of tea and wants something to do, LOL
@Shivased Want a massacre?? *hopeful look*
@Fuin Elda - everything you mentioned here regarding Fuin's mental health issues is interesting and as we discussed on Discord it has so much potential
I am especially looking forward to seeing you write how Fuin talks about these issues for the first time with people she is not close with.
Especially since she will be talking about things that she lived through in the First Age to humans who see those events as ancient history and have no attachment/relation to those events outside of history books. Also (as we discussed) the therapy sessions can, of course, be as rocky as you want, have stops and starts, it makes sense and it will be an amazing collaboration!
I'll try to finish a HoH post for you (and anyone else I need to respond to) this weekend and leave Fuin at the recovery room and you can take it from there.
@everyone I've given some thoughts about amendments and additions to the current thread guidelines and here is what I have come up with. The current guidelines are:
so please let me know if this is understandable/clear? Should I simplify some things or do I need to reword things? Thanks in advance for all the tips, advice and help
I shall of course make clear everywhere that the new guidelines are in effect from the date I post the TR announcement in HoH and OOC and that post prior to that are not in violation of the amended guidelines.
@everyone I've given some thoughts about amendments and additions to the current thread guidelines and here is what I have come up with. The current guidelines are:
The new thread guidelines (if they are acceptable to everyone would be)
- All general RPG rules apply.
- Post your location on the top of your post.
- Whiteout your out of character comments.
- Posts over 300 characters preferred.
- All Plaza RP Rules apply, please refer to the RP Code of Conduct if unsure.
- If your post deals with any sensitive subjects {topics?} such as mental health issues (e.g. PTSD), abuse (sexual, verbal, emotional), violence (domestic, assault, etc.) or contains a more vivid description of injuries please include a Content/Trigger Warning at the top of your post in bold red. {optional: If you are unsure please feel free to ask in the HoH OOC thread.}
- Post your location at the top of your post
- If you need to make an OOC comment please write it at the bottom of your post and mark it clearly. You don’t need to white it out.
- Posts over 300 characters preferred.
- Disclaimer: All information provided in this thread is strictly for RP purposes. The authors of the posts in this thread are not medical professionals, nor are they claiming to be.
- As you can see the 1st sentence was modified a bit and the link to the RP Code of Conduct was added.
- The second sentence from the original guidelines was moved to 3rd place and I added the part about content/trigger warning with examples.
- The sentence about OOC comment was amended because I realised that if you are reading on mobile you can't always highlight the whited out text

- 4thh sentence was moved to 5th place
- Added a general disclaimer.
Looks fine most of it, though I've never worked out the thing with content warnings - it seems to me that the whole HoH thread should be marked with a warning in that case: "Caution: Blood, Gore, Fractured bones, and other Dangerous Things".
Personally, it'd take me more time to figure out whether my post would require any warning labels than writing the post itself. Or I could just write: unpredictable Alarion things ahead, read with caution! *automatically translates the rules into proper Latvian*
@Allacan ob Burzum @Nia that sounds good to me! If you want a little segue, let me know and I can post a timelapse-y thing somewhere (F&F? LitM? the Infirmary? many options) of Allacan's care? Lailyn would happily spoon-feed (hope Alla likes honey), probably brush and braid her hair and read stories to the patient while she battles (literal) demons. Should we perhaps move to the Rohan OOC thread for further discussion, I don't want to impose on Gondorian hospitality...
@Nessa Saelind, it looks good to me. I often feel that way about CWs, too, @Pele Alarion, it can be such a grey area and everyone has different sensitivities. I chose to use them when I had a shred of doubt just in case. I'd hate to upset anyone (but if I ever do I want to hear about it). I'm not an expert, that's my perspective, if it helps at all? If not please ignore me.
Also while I am here, @Winddancer, I'm not sure if you wanted to bring Ms Irma and Malanor to the HoH from the market (ok kind of hoping you do because I want to see Ms Irma continue her tirade of this Very Bad Day she is having). If you do, you may tote Falaneth along. Either way, you healers have a patient with a minor injury incoming eventually!

That was the plan!
@Pele Alarion - honestly I think we're all aware of what to expect when you walk into the HoH thread
re blood and guts, but maybe if for the purpose of the story and the other RP-er the description of the injury or procedure needs to be a bit more graphic or detailed I suppose a note at the start of the post would be appropriate. However, so far we didn't have many broken bones, blood and gore... But, some rangers did say they will be showing up *hint, hint, nudge, nudge, shove of a cliff*
@Lailyn - thank you
and as always you give sound advice
when in doubt mention something just in case.
@Lailyn - thank you
@Winddancer umm....no, no thanks. A little bit of trouble would be fine, no massacre needed *backs away slowly*
Yesss more Ms Irma, more Ms Irma!!!
Ness.
I have officially made changes (amendments and additions) as I presented here and you all made agreeing humming noises
and made the official announcement in the HoH thread itself.
I think that's all the informing I need doing, maybe it's best if I post in the City Hall OOC as well.

Excellent new rules! clearly stated and to the point
Really appreciate the clarity of your announcement, Nessa! Thanks for putting it all out there and thanks as well to all who discussed the changes in this thread.
*drops by to see if anything else important has been missed, and then drifts off again absentmindedly*
Nothing major, except the fact that I owe a lot of people, including you @Pele Alarion , responses
I need a coming soon placard or something for this
@Nessa Saelind, @Ercassie - Not sure what you've planned for that Ranger healer training, so simply dropping by to see if needed.
@Pele Alarion - Regarding the Ranger healer training I didn't have fixed plans, so if @Ercassie is OK with it feel free to jump in.
I'd love to have you. Regarding the healer training, my original idea was to have it in 2 or 3 parts. The first where we find out IC what the ranger in question knows so the healer can assess what they need to focus on. The second would be a sort of theoretical prompt using your archived texts from the Houses of Healing Library. For example: how would you clean a wound? Or a fellow ranger fell and broke their arm, the healer is not present. What do you do before the healer arrives? And the 3rd part would be the application of learned skills, in this case, Nal can practice on Matilda.
That's as far as I got with this development, but of course if you or Cassie have better ideas, or you want to insert something else let me know, I'm always opened for suggestions.
@everyone - my long-awaited responses will most likely come this weekend *fingers crossed* Work has been rather chaotic, so the weekends are practically the only time left I have to write and I'll do my best to reply by Sunday. Thanks for being patient with an old turtle, love ya!

@Pele Alarion SORRY i have been slow to respond.
I finally began packing for my BIG move. But - I have like 1,000 books to sort, cull, inventory and pare my collection by half? omg maybe more than that!
It's taking so many hours to go through; I regret having had no time recently to RP in HoH.
I will try to do better.

Good luck with the move @Ankala Teaweed *hugs* hope everything goes well with the packing and moving. The HoH will be waiting for you.
My long-awaited responses are coming this week instead of the last one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that no interruptions appear on the horizon.

Ohhh man @Ankala Teaweed I moved earlier this year and I am honestly so glad that I didn't have to pare down my books (if anything I've ended up with more)
@Nessa Saelind no worries about delays I've been dragging you away for other things like BoB so I should probably be apologizing to your other patients.

Yep I am ebaying some extra copies of HOME, the Sil, vintage copies of LotR, a collectors edition Hobbit, and some Wheel of Time volumes while I go. (ebay name yardsaletrail.) I might be halfway through packing books?

Hnnnnn.. collectors edition of the hobbit. Hnnnnn must not by a 6th copy of the hobbit or any of the vintage ones... Watch they will be ones I have 2 out of three books for so I need them...
it's the gold-cased 50th anniv one. I just have too many (like the History of tH, and a couple older ones, the Annotated, and the Alan Lee!), and I'm trying to let go a bit!
It hurts putting the HOME hardback vols up, specially the four with Alan Lee art, but it's just too much weight.
I should list the gorgeous folio hardback Hobbit with case that has purty dragon art.
oh my
And I should list my Brit copy of the Sil (1st printing?) 1977.
I never heard there were any differences in the George Allen & Unwin vs the Houghton Mifflin, other than their book cover decor.

Hi everyone, it was suggested that I post here to introduce my healer apprentice who is only around sporadically, Amethyst Nerennia (mostly known as Amy)
She joined the healer ranks as an apprentice a year or two? before the war happened, but then her fiance went missing and she eventually set out to search for him. She returns periodically to continue her training but doesn't stay long, because she's determined to find her missing fiance.
I may do some flashback posts with her, as well as tossing her in now and then during her brief visits back to the city :D

The healer roster in the second post has been edited
with the addition of @Rillewen's 2 characters: Amethyst Nerennia (apprentice healer) and Maeth (nurse). So glad to have you as part of the HoH staff Rill
I'm looking forward to RP-ing with you here, I have a feeling Quintus and Amy will be an interesting combination.
On the posts note, my apologies for being late! My niece and nephew arrived at the weekend and I'm part of the childminding group. Their parents are picking them up tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed that I can finish these posts without interruptions from work, school-aged children and elderly parents.
Eh before I forget, love Ms Irma's entrance into the HoH @Winddancer
If I remember correctly this is happening on the same day when Thea is locked in the Tower Guard? *thinking face* Lemme tell you, that's one long day

@Nessa Saelind Yep it is indeed and thanks :P Might need to find the sedatives :P And of course, whoever ends up dealing with her, stand your ground or she will eat you whole lol
she is not lying. Hathaldir's hands still hurt! Seems like "this long day" is not treating anyone well atm.
It's always a "long day" when dealing with Ms Irma :P
Hey, maybe I could bring Maeth in to help with Mr Irma? She's older, has plenty of patience after raising three very mischievous boys and a girl who tended to get dragged into all her brother's adventures LOL. She might be of some use
Bring all the help you can, cause Ms Irma is going to be a handful for anyone trying to check her ankle :P And sorry if she is a lil abusive, that's unfortunately how she is lol ;)
lol cool! I look forward to getting a chance to play Maeth, usually she's just kind of a sideline character, or referenced in other posts :D
How did she get hurt, anyway?
@Winddancer
How did she get hurt, anyway?
@Winddancer
Lailyns character Falaneth violently and maliciously threw her shopping out in front of Ms Irma so that the poor woman slipped on a vegetable of some sort and fell, most likely breaking her ankle. Then she was horribly manhandled by two pervy louts that groped her where no proper woman should be groped! She will of course have them all arrested..
I'm sure
well, perhaps I'll take this last hour of my shift and brush up on what's going on, and we'll see if I get a post written before I go home from work lol. If not, it'll be there tomorrow
Edit: Looks like I got it written before my shift ended, with about 10-15 minutes to spare :D lol. Hope my post is ok lol

Its perfect! She will be sputtering all over the place :P
violent and malicious, yes that sounds exactly like Falaneth!
FYI dear healers, I know you have lots of lovely stories going on right now, so please don't worry about rushing in to see Falaneth. She has minor abrasions and a sprained wrist from tripping and falling in the market streets. She'll keep! <3

Unlike Ms Irma, who needs help NOW :P
Lol Yes, Falaneth ought to wait since she got her injuries from her vicious assault on Ms Irma, right? :P
I got the impression she was standing back where Maeth wouldn't see her right away, or am I wrong? But I do think it would be fun if Maeth decided to make irma wait while she gets falaneth in to see a healer first ;)

Right!
And yes, Falaneth is pretty much hiding in a corner trying to be inconspicuous. Obviously because she is guilty..
Ms Irma will very likely have to talk to management if you make her wait! Well she already will for talking to her like that..
