Yeah @Aerlinn, that's it! I was thinking just music in general, but your guess hits on the earworm phenomena.

You're up!

Aha, perhaps this was more misleading than I thought. 😆 But I'll let you know that it's a 'who am I', not a 'what am I'.

You got me @Balfur! Silver referring to the meaning of his name, rare friend to Narvi and his friendship with the dwarves. Betrayed, of course, by Annatar/Sauron.

*looks left* *looks right* *sneaks in with a new riddle*

I echo those around me
As I listen with sharp ears
Though I may be kept for companionship
My life spans longer years

Thanks Menolly!

Middle-earth related:
Who said, 'It seems almost like a dream that has slowly faded.'
To which another replied ' To me it feels more like falling asleep again.'?

It's definitely one of the Hobbits, with Frodo responding. Not wanting to google, I'm going to guess -- Sam? then Frodo?

Might as well keep guessing hobbits! Is it Merry who says it to Frodo?

You see me
And I see you
Though far apart
I hear you too

Not Middle-earth related, and made up on the spur of the moment in the wee hours of the morning, so, uh...we'll see if it's far too easy or far too hard.

Sorry for taking so long to make a new riddle, I shamefully admit I forgot about this. Here we go. This one is not Middle-earth related.

I am the fourth.
Nothing rhymes with that of course.
I was seen closely by the fourth,
The third being well off course.

This is going to be a real long shot guess, but the planet Mars? It is the fourth planet, although I have to admit the rest doesn't seem to fit.

Wow @Menolly , I was beginning to think I may have made that one a bit too difficult. But you've got it!

Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun, and I couldn't think of anything that rhymes with 'fourth'. As for the other lines, Mariner 4 was the first spacecraft to successfully observe Mars closeup. Mariner 3 failed due to technical issues and was on course to miss Mars by several million miles.

Your turn!

Oh gosh, that was a shot in the dark that I did not think was actually correct, aaaaaaaand now I have to think of a riddle.

I am a common favorite fare
On the day of war, found everywhere

Trying short and sweet in an effort to make it a little trickier. This one is not Middle-earth related.

Oh dear. Er... all I can think of is chocolate: it's what the allied soldiers were treating on when they liberated our country in World War 2!

Unfortunately, it is not chocolate, but thank you for guessing! It's a more savory snack...

Pretzels?

Honestly only thing I can think of that is common, and can either crack or bend depending on the type of pretzel...

Oops I should probably remember to come and check these more often! Sorry for the delay. Good guesses, but not correct. It occurs to me that part of this riddle is based on a food tradition that is common in the USA, but may not be a thing in other places. Let's try two more lines...

Wrap me, roll me, fold me too
You could eat one, but you want a few

Well pretzel is still first thought but uhhh I guess my next guess would be tacos/burrito as those are tex-mex/american more so than Mexican...

@CHAOS Tacos it is! We have a winner. I think most of the lines are self explanatory in retrospect, but "on the day of war" is Tyr's day, or Tuesday, aka taco Tuesday (a mostly American invention, I think). I'm not a big pretzel fan so I wouldn't want one or a few, but I do love tacos. Your turn!

Wasn't until the wrap roll and fold me part that was clear totally didn't think of Tyr's Day for on the day of war. I was thinking things like Indepenance day stuff like that...

Uhhh okay I'm not good at riddles so this may be horribly easy

@Fuin Elda Is it Gondolin?

I also went looking for some rules here but couldn't find any - but I assume I can only have one guess until I am given a yea or nay?

@Woggy Hardbotom and @Saranna Nope on both of those unfortunately.... I haven't thought of a new line yet, trying to make it so it's not ridiculously easy (well I think it's ridiculously easy).
