@Almarëa Mordollwen I'm going to give you credit for this one. I was technically thinking "Entwife" but given that we never really know what it was that Hal saw on the North Moors, I think Ents and Entwives can be interchangeably used here. Good solving!

We are kindred
We see with no eyes
We call to each other with no mouths
We gave comfort to the Faithful
What are we?

I CARRY MY HOUSE WHEREVER I GO
EVEN AT MY FASTEST, I AM STILL SLOW

This riddle is brought to you by 1:30am and Discord. If anyone from there tries to answer it, when it is obviously EXTREMELY CLEVER AND HARD TO GUESS, they will be cast into the Void.

It's a snail!

(it's not the topic of the discord at the moment, but I think is still a valid answer to the riddle, so I think I can avoid being cast into the Void) :smiley16:

This *is* a valid answer, but not the one I'm looking for. I'm looking for the *other* valid answer 😂

Tortoise?

Although I can think of at least two other animals this applies to.

Thanks Thali! Here's a new one, hope it's not too weird:

Without a nose you cannot sense us,
Remove one letter and you can spend us.
Now how about we remove one more,
Then watch with awe, as trees begin to talk.

I need to stop answering these ... I am so bad at writing them. :smiley16: But here goes:

One name, two bearers: mother of the lost, and scion on an island. What name am I?

Eärendur? I feel like this is a terrible guess since the clue seems to suggest a woman but it's the only double name I can think of involving an island, Numenor.

It is not Minas Tirith. Hint: one half of the clue does indeed refer to a woman's name.

No, neither of those, but you are getting closer. One of the bearers of this name is not a person, but a plant.

No, Elanor was not (to my knowledge) the mother of lost children.

(Maybe I made this one too obscure? :smiley16: One last hint: the Silmarillion is the relevant book.)

A plant, aha! Nimloth.

The white tree of Númenor and the mother of Elured and Elurin. *sniffles*
There fell Celegorm by Dior's hand, and there fell Curufin, and dark Caranthir; but Dior was slain also, and Nimloth his wife, and the cruel servants of Celegorm seized his young sons and left them to starve in the forest. Of this Maedhros indeed repented, and sought for them long in the woods of Doriath; but his search was unavailing, and of the fate of Eluréd and Elurín no tale tells.

Nice one, Alma! I have not had any luck in coming up with decent Tolkien riddles. But er, how about...

A light in the forest, the kitchen or sky.

Wait, so this one is not Tolkien-specific?

On that understanding, I will guess: Summer

Ahaha yes, sorry Ducky, not Tolkien-specific. So far moon is the closest guess.

And uh, Google reminds me that the 'kitchen' clue may be a North American-ism. Sorry! So for those on the other side of the pond, let me add...

Lights in the forest, kitchen, field, or sky.

I was -this- close to guessing the Sun the first time around, and hearing the Moon was close means I have to guess the Sun now even though I convinced myself earlier that wasn't it.

Firefly, lightning bug, whatever word you use to describe those little light-up bugs that seem to be everywhere in the summertime in certain places?

Nope, not fireflies. What I'm thinking of is still closer to the moon or sun than any of the other guesses. Hmm, hint: the riddle has to do with the names of [answer].

Oh boy I'm stumped on a perfect fit for this. But based on your latest hint, is it constellations of stars?

Ooh, is it the Big Dipper? You can only see it in the northern hemisphere. It’s a constellation found in the sky. Dippers are found in kitchens. I know the Big Dipper is also known as The Plough, so that would fit the field addition. It part of Ursa Major - the Great Bear, which you might find in a forest.

Urgh, why did I try to hard to win this? Now I need to come up with a riddle …

From a tiny silver gift I come
To be a gift for all to see
What am I?

Is this Middle-earth related? Under the assumption that it is not, I will guess a ring, maybe an engagement ring?

Is it the box of earth with a small silver rune on it, that Galadriel gave to Sam?

Is it the Phial of Galadriel?

@Almarëa Mordollwen has gotten it once again. I really need to work on writing more complex riddles.

Sam used his little gift of earth to restore the trees of the Shire (including the Party Tree), thus making it a gift for all to see
