Around the entirety of Edoras banners with the different kingdoms colours and animals were draped and seats made from stacked bales of hay were set out and the course was decorated with fall colours and strangely carved pumpkins and turnips and there were sweets set out from the candy shop for spectators and racers (and their owners to enjoy).

This is the LAST of the regular season races, and your last chance to try to win a place in the Race of Champions happening next month!

There were many great rows of crates, each row a different size, and flagged with different colours, with the names of the kingdom over them. There was quite a ruckus in a few of them as some of the animals knew it was time to race and they were quite excited, others were lazy lumps and fast asleep. All of the crates held animals that any person might use to race for that particular kingdom should they not have their own.

Imladris crates hold hedgehogs and are posted under the colour #408080 (Teal)

Lothlorien crates hold foxes and are posted under the colour #00BFFF (Light Blue)

Khazad Dum crates hold badgers and are posted under the colour #808080 (Grey)

Gondor crates hold skunks and are posted under the colour BLACK (No colour code required)

Rohan crates hold raccoons and are posted under the colour #00BF00 (Light Green)

Shire crates hold coneys and are posted under the colour #800080 (Purple)

Fangorn crates hold squirrels and are posted under the colour #008000 (Green)

Isengard crates hold rats (of ususal size) and are posted under the colour #0040FF (Royal Blue)

Mordor crates hold snakes and are posted under the colour #800000 (Dark Red)

Cold Drake with Sid the Wyrm

So yes, the dwarves had all disappeared and here was a five-headed dragon cajoling a nervous wyrm to the starting line. The wyrm, Sid, was a weak-looking creature with bulging eyes.
'Make him slither fast,' said Whitehead.
'Tickle his skin with a blazing will-o-wisp,' said the Blackhead.
'Call his mother a snake,' said Greenhead.
'Making him beg for soil chalked full of organic matter,' said the Bluehead
'Oh don't be so cruel,' said the Redhead, who was always kind and gentle compared to the other evil coloured heads.

Naelia with Asmodeus

After taking a break from racing for a while, both Naelia and the only Lava Snake to survive this far, the one named Asmodeus, slithered out of the crate and towards the starting line. The minioness didn't travel to the land of the horsemasters often, but after she heard rumors that her half-sister, Lathana, may have escaped again and made it as far as Fangorn, she had to investigate it for herself. When the rumors turned out to be false, her trusty Orcish helper, Orngor, informed her there was one last race in the season and it was being held in the land of the Horsemasters, so she should get herself and Asmodeus over there, since there were no other minions competing (as of yet).

As Asmodeus approached the starting line, Naelia surveyed the racecourse to see who her newest Lava Snake's competition might be. She was quite flabbergasted to see a Wyrm approaching the starting line. What startled her even more was the Wyrm's handler, a dragon! "Has our Lord and Master conquered this land and this is all that is left?" the minioness thought to herself. If that was the case, why wasn't she informed? Regardless of the reason for the Wyrm's presence, she hoped that Asmodeus wasn't about to have a close call again, like he did the last time he had raced, nearly suffering the same fate as Smaug if Naelia hadn't intervened at the last moment, distracting him enough to get out of the way of the Fell Beast that wanted to have her latest Lava Snake for dinner...

Let's start with an A and B roll, please

"Is that a worm or a wyrm?" Came the raccoonish chitterings of the Three brothers as they looked at the racers who had lined themselves up at the starting line so far. Did it really matter this round? Not really no with this strange season upon them what were they really going to do about the strange happenings of giant dragons that could eat them? Honestly they understood ketchup and being crispy dragon food and they were keeping their little black grubby paws out of the way of the dragon. Of course over all it looked very much like the racers didn't have the first clue about which way to go.
"Hopefully some racing raccoons show up and show these guys which way to run!" Hob chittered with Bob.

"The pumpkins are tasty." Was all that Reginald added to the conversation as he chowed down on a carved pumpkin that he'd stolen.

@Cold Drake with Sid the Wyrm (1 A Roll, 2 B rolls 6, 16, 19 ) -3, -1, 3 Your racer gets scared of a strange pumpkin that was by the starting line and went the wrong way how do you get them to turn around? Once they get turned around the Rohirrim decide to give chase to the wyrm after the last issue they had with a wyrm... What safe space does Sid see to hide from the Riders along the track?

@Lady of Shadow as Naelia with Asmodeus the snake (1 A roll, 1 B roll 2, 2) -1, -3 Apparently your racer is taking on a similar tack as the racers from the last match and is going to see about coming back from behind how do you convince them that this is a bad idea?

Standings
Cold Drake with Sid -1 (3/15)
Naelia with Asmodeus -4 (2/15)

Cold Drake with Sid the Wyrm

A strange pumpkin had terrified Sid. He thought, the first thought that came to his minute brain actually, he could worm himself into the peculiar pumpkin to hide from it, and then get a free ride down the race track by the dragon booting him along, but now, forced to go backwards, the heads were ignoring him. His sad bulging eyes looked about him, and he squirmed miserably. For not far off, men on great horses were riding towards him. Their fierce faces looked down to where the small wyrm squirmed in fright. They appeared ready to attack. Sid, eyes wide, the dust from the horse's hooves showering down, which made the slight wyrm cough and sputter, did the only thing a wyrm could do in a situation like this; he dove into the earth and burrowed deep. He was, after all, an earthwoyrm.

There was a strange chittering over the announcement loud speaker. that if one spoke raccoon one would have understood 'Ohhh good the worm is moving again, thought it had drown in a puddle. Would have been a terrible loss' from Hob who was eyeballing the earthwyrm hungrily

At the rate Sid slithered down the track, there would be snow covering the ground before he finished. His dragon trainer, Cold Drake, was off chasing ponies to roast for lunch. The only meat that Sid ever came close to eating was dead things found in the dirt and some tasty living organisms such as nematodes, protozoans, rotifers, bacteria, fungi in the soil. He was mindful, though, of his intake for health's sake. A little too many rotifers , and he would tip scales for sure.
One thing he was glad about, the mean-looking snake was far behind him, well, at least for now. He suddenly smelt horse dung and became quite excited. Maybe he would have a snack after all.

@Cold Drake with Sid the Wyrm (2 A Rolls and 1 B roll 1, 5, 11) +1, +5, +1 Your worm is finds a particularly nice bit of soft ground and is grateful for it as something overhead spooks him, fortunately in the right direction. What was it?

Sorry for the delay, Comic Con took a lot more out of me than I originally thought it would, I will keep this race open of 3 more days at which time I will open the Race of Champions on the 10th of November as it's the one time we can't start the next race until this one is finished.

There was a high-pitched 'tseee,' and Sid knew he must take cover. Wiggling down into some soft earth, he made it just in time before the Robin struck. He felt the soft earth shake around him. He was far enough down in the soil, but he knew he couldn't stay hidden. The Robin would not give up that easily. So he moved. First, using his complex musculature, he made himself long. Then he anchored the front of his body by sticking his tiny, practically invisible bristles, SEE-taa, into the soil. Then he pulled his rear end forward, making himself short and thick. Once his back end was in place, the front SEE-taa was withdrawn from the soil, but the SEE-taa on his rear end was stuck out, anchoring the rear end. His front end was free to shoot forward in the burrow as he made himself long and slender. He then repeated the process, moving through the earth and down the track, long, short and thick, and further ahead in the race, hopefully, and away from the bird.

Congrats Drifa on the win. I am going to be opening the Final race shortly (it's a bit later than I wanted as we had a REALLY REALLY nasty snow storm here and am playing catch up on a lot of things thanks to it)
