Welcome to the final race of the season, hosted in the putrid realm of Mordor which won the most races! Perhaps the racers were able to win because they were breathing less noxious fumes? Or perhaps the maddness of the voice of Sauron drove them to go faster? We'll never know but it was a spectacular season for the snakes of Mordor.

As this is the race of Champions please be advised that only those that won previous races are able to race in this race, and those that won multiple times as DIFFERENT racers are welcome to run those racers. (For those that won two with the same racer you may of course race as the same racer twice but the totals will be kept individual to each set.
The qualifiers for this racer are:

@Frost as Jorgy as aFox (Lothlorien)
@Lady of Shadow as Naelia with Asmodeous the snake (Mordor)
@Drifa as Afird Splitax with Olfat the badger (KD), Jib Jira with Muck Rack the Snake (Mordor), Cold Drake with Sid the Worm (KD)
@I Said What I Said as Fuin Elda with Snuggles the hedgehog (Imladris)x2
@I hate Eärendil as Nerys with Nemesis the snake (Mordor) x2

Colors that will be used by racers in this race are:
#800000 - Mordor
#708090 - KD
#00BFFF - Lothlorien
#408080 - Imladris

#FF0000 - Officiating Color

ALL other colours are welcome though we do ask you to be mindful of hard to read colors for spectators.

Naelia with Asmodeus

"Well, this is it, Asmodeus, the race of Champions, do you feel up for it?" Naelia asked the only Lava Snake that managed to make it this far. Her original Lava Snake, Smaug, didn't make it past the trial stage, since he met an unfortunate end by a spawn of Shelob in Cirith Ungol. Asmodeus would have suffered a similar fate (though not by a spawn of Shelob; rather a Fell Beast of all things) if the minioness hadn't intervened at the last moment to get him back on track. Sometimes she wondered if both the Lava Snakes that her trusty Orcish helper, Orngor, acquired for her to participate in this activity were a little on the unlucky side, but since Asmodeus had been trained in Angmar before he was allowed to compete, perhaps he had a basic understanding of how things worked (even though he didn't particularly like being constantly yelled at by his handler, though he seemed to at least be able to tolerate Naelia more than her Orcish minion, no matter how trusted he was), whereas Smaug didn't have any prior training, so perhaps that's where the two Lava Snakes differed.

Asmodeus on the other hand, paid no heed to this particular race being a Championship, he just wanted to get this over with so that he could take a rest from all this unnecessary racing (though he was beginning to get the hang of it, even though he only won one race so far). The only Lava Snake to make it this far knew by now not to complain in any way (by slithering in the wrong direction, that he seemed to do often when not directed or rather yelled at to "get back on track!" so to speak, but the way minions handled their snakes seemed to be effective, or else none of them would be competing in this "race of Champions" and would have ended up on the dinner plate for creatures even more terrifying than a spawn of Shelob or a Fell Beast looking for a tasty morsel).

Let's start with an A and B roll, please

It was not the nicest place Snuggles thought as he tromped his prickly way to the race course in Mordor. Well as trompingly as something the size of a teacup can tromp, it was probably for the best that that he had all those spines on his back or else he'd have been eaten by now. He snuffled his little nose and made his way to the starting line and looked around seeing that there was a snake so far again he was happy for his little spines. See that nasty fanged beast try and bite him he could have an entire mouthful of spikes. With that a shriek from something that made him jump the race seemed to begin.

1 A Roll

@Lady of Shadow as Naelia with Asmodeus the Snake (1 A Roll, 1 B Roll: 1,7) +1, -1 Your snake is pretty sure that this race track is a giant plate for a Fell beast thanks to something screeching. Where do they hide until they are certain the danger is passed?

@I Said What I Said Snuggles the Hedgehog (1 A roll 1) +1

Standings
Snuggles the Hedgehog - +1(1/15)
Naelia and Asmodeus - 0 (2/15)

Afird Splitaxe and Olfat

Afird wobbled to the crates, his feet not quite healed from his last adventures, and opened the door. Olfat, the badger, squeezed himself sluggish from the box.
'We are late, Olfat! said the dwarf. 'Off you go now, to the starting line and try to stay on track!'
The overweight creature with a crooked snarl that appeared to be a mischievous smile looked at his trainer, his eyes pleading for at least one pleasure before the race began, and the dwarf obliged by throwing him a fat juicy worm.
'Just one, for now, mind!' called the dwarf to his racer.

Jib Jira with Muck-raker
'Squirm! Squirm fast, sluggard!' The minion glared at the snake and kicked dirt at it. Jib Jira and Muck-raker, her racing snake, were late in coming to this race. Things had been hectic, and the meat was in short supply. Without the meats, Jib Jira became very cranky. She took it out on everyone and everything around her, Muck-raker included.

The lava snake slithered to the starting line as fast as he could, as dirt from his trainers' boot flew across the top of his cool skin. He would have to be quick this race, or her wrath would see his skin hang for a belt.

Image

Cold Drake and Sid
Sid sensed the red snake (Muck-rake) and began to move. Stretching long and then bringing his rear end in, he advanced as fast as possible to the start line. His trainer, Cold Drake, seemed to have flown off on some adventure, all five heads threatening Sid that he better win and leaving the Wyrm on his own.
The Championship race would be a race he would have to use all his skill and training to win. And, of course, some soft earth patches to delve in and use to his advantage and sneak ahead.

@OHoney Do each of my racers pick rolls or just one pick for all three? Either way, these will be the rolls. 2A rolls 1B roll, please

IHe managed to scramble forwards despite jumping in fear from the shriek that he heard that had started the race. He scrambled along realizing there were more snakes and badgers at the starting line and he quite wanted to get away from the lot of them. Though he did eyeball the worm that would be a tasty treat possibly? No. To close to the badgers and snakes he had to keep moving and hopefully away from the things that might try to eat him.
1 A Roll

@Drifaas Afird Splitaxe and Olfat the Badger(2 A rolls, 1 B roll 1,3, 2) +1, +3, - 2Your badger gets going only to find a gas vent spraying up in their face singeing their fur forcing them to retreat. How do they find some relief from the burn?

as Jib Jara with Muck-raker the Snake (2 A Roll, 1 B Roll: 6,4,13) -3, -2, +2 Your snake ends up getting chased by hungry looking goblin that thinks it will make a good meal, fortunately in the right direction, how does your snake lose the goblin following it?

As Cold Drake with Sid the worm(2 A rolls, 1 B roll 5,5,3) +5, +5, +2 Somehow the worm is flying along what is the cause for this speed?

@I Said What I Said Snuggles the Hedgehog (1 A roll 5) +5

Standings
As Cold Drake with Sid - 12 (3/15)
Snuggles the Hedgehog - +6 (2/15)
as Afird Splitaxe and Olfat - +2 (3/15)
Naelia and Asmodeus - 0 (2/15)
Jib Jara and Muck-raker - - 3(3/15)

@Drifa You are welcome to roll for each racer so if you want to have them all roll the same you can do so at the bottom like you did this time or if they are going to be different you're welcome to put them under each racers RP.

Afird Splitaxe and Olfat

The fur on Olfat's face scorched from the sprouting fire that had shot up from a vent on the race track stuck out stiff and brittly. The broad beam badger had cried out in pain, falling and rolling on the hard cruel ground. Afird was quickly by his side with the worm box. Grabbing a handful of dirt from the box, he poured water on it and made a muddy compress. As Olfat whimpered, the dwarf carefully applied the mud to its face. The scent of worms from the wet dirt soon made the badger forget about his pain. He licked his singed lips, a sure sign that no matter what, food was always the utmost in his mind.

Jib Jira with Muck-raker

'Squirm! Squirm fast, sluggard!' This repeated mantra was all that Muck-raker heard as he slithered down the track. He was getting ahead of the other racers and the cruel trainer, Jib Jira when suddenly a goblin jumped in front of him with a greedy look upon its face. Not a good sign. He had seen that look on many a predator's faces before.
Acting quickly, he rushed to the goblin and entered what he would describe later as the scariest place he had ever been in his life; up the goblins pants. He wormed his way up the creature's leg towards its neck, repeating, 'Squirm! Squirm fast, sluggard!' And the goblin did. But suddenly, Muck-raker felt a clawed hand grab him. Two things happened then. Muck-rake quickly constricted around the hand, and the hand let go. And the goblin was lucky to get one quick bite in and take the tip of the lava snake's tail off. Muck-raker was free, minus a bit of tail, and down the raceway once more.

Cold Drake and Sid

Sid was startled when he felt a cold body zoom very close by him. So surprised was he that he jumped right onto the lava snake's back. The Mordor snake seemed to be slithering quite swiftly. Sid did not know the real reason (escape from a hungry goblin) why the snake was speeding, besides the obvious, trying to win a race, but he knew that if he hung on, he would be further ahead than he was now. And so, using his tiny sticky suction cup barbs, he held on.

His fear had managed to get him going at a most excellent pace, especially for a creature like himself that had legs that were only about an inch long. His little feet were getting fairly warm as he sprinted along as fast as he could go and he caught sight of a badger getting a burn from some gasses! Goodness! He thought with a squeak - Someone should talk to animal welfare about these conditions they were being forced to race in. They hardly seemed appropriate even for nasty snakes.

5 A Rolls

@Drifa as Afird Splitaxe and Olfat the Badger(2 A rolls, 1 B roll 1, 3, 19) +1, +3, + 1 Mordor doesn't have a lot of wildlife but it does have a number of bugs, how does Olfat find out about the different sort of bugs that he might be able to snack on?

as Jib Jara with Muck-raker the Snake (2 A Roll, 1 B Roll: 1, 2, 7) +1, -1, +1 Things to be going a bit better for your racer how do they figure out which direction they need to be headed after their misadventure in a pair of goblin trousers?

As Cold Drake with Sid the worm(2 A rolls, 1 B roll 4,6, 18) -2, -3, -2 Thing have gone from good to poorly terribly fast, what calamity caused Sid to slid backwards?

@I Said What I Said Snuggles the Hedgehog (5 A rolls 2, 4, 1, 1, 5) -1, -2, +1, +1, +5

Standings
Snuggles the Hedgehog - +10 (7/15)
as Afird Splitaxe and Olfat - +7 (6/15)
As Cold Drake with Sid - +5 (6/15)
Naelia and Asmodeus - 0 (2/15)
Jib Jara and Muck-raker - - 2(6/15)

@Frost @Drifa @Lady of Shadow @I hate Eärendil Just a reminder that the race will be ending soon so get your rolls in!

Afird Splitaxe and Olfat
Having licked all the worm mud off his face, Olfat was still hunger. But there was no use begging for more from his dwarf trainer, for he was still behind a tiny hedgehog, and the dwarf would want more effort put into racing before he offered any more rewards. And so, Olfat tried to dig in the scorched earth for bugs. He knocked over a few rocks. Not a bug in to eat. Mordor was the land of ash, after all. The only place a bug may hide would be under the body of a dead orc or beast, and Olfat was not partial to those types of larvae. He decided to race harder and faster and maybe get a treat from the good dwarf.
He began to race faster.

Image
Jib Jira with Muck-raker

'Squirm! Squirm fast, sluggard!' And Muck-raker did. He seemed lighter since the tip of his tail was gone, bitten off by the Goblin. Maybe he had been overweight (not likely since all he ate and got from his trainer was scrawny half-starving rats). Whatever the case, he was slithering faster than ever. And, he was staying away from his trainer, Jib Jira's heavy boot.

Image

Cold Drake and Sid

Sid was out of luck. The red snake seemed to pick up speed suddenly and thrown from his back. It was so dark and gloomy (not that he was anything for wyrms have no eyes) he sensed that he lost which direction to go in and ended up back beyond the starting line. Confused but not defeated, he began stretching long and then, bringing his rear end in, advancing once more. At least he did not have the five heads badgering him.

He had a few little set backs but it seemed like he was making good time. At least that's what it seemed like he was a bit wary of the shadows about him, expecting at any moment some nasty snake or badger to pop out at him, but so far they had managed to leave him alone at least. One last push as he heard the tromping of feet of a badger behind him.

8 A Rolls

@Drifa as Afird Splitaxe and Olfat the Badger(8 A rolls 6, 3, 2, 5, 5, 6, 1, 1) -3, +3, -1, +5, +5, -3, +1, +1

as Jib Jara with Muck-raker the Snake (8 A Rolls: 1, 3, 2, 2, 5, 5, 6, 1) +1, +3, -1, -1, +5, +5, -3, +1

As Cold Drake with Sid the worm(8 A rolls 6, 3, 4, 6, 6, 5, 1) -3, +3, -2, -3, -3, +5, +1

Afird Splitaxe and Olfat
The little prickly pricker ran right past him, and for some reason, the air smelt like fresh worms in its passing. Olfat's throat was so dry from the vapours and fumes of the land that he could hardly swallow. But the smell of fresh worms gave him one more burst of energy, and he wobbled faster than he had ever before.
Image

Image
Jib Jira with Muck-raker

'Squirm! Squirm fast, sluggard!' And Muck-raker did. But a large creature (obviously of great girth for the ground shook as it went by him) passed him, and so did a smaller one that he had never sensed before and knew not what it might be. He knew he was no longer ahead in the race. But he kept slithering, for it was wiser to slither and lose than to stop and get the boot from Jib Jira.

Image

Cold Drake and Sid

Sid heard nothing, saw nothing (sense nothing, for of course wyrms have no eyes) and felt alone suddenly. The race track was empty except for the vibration of a racer behind at the start line. Having no one to harry him to race faster, he found a tiny hole in the scorched earth and wiggled his way into it. Down he went, and the ground seemed less hardened and dusty. There was life after all below the surface of the tortured land. He made his way towards the finish line, not caring much if he won or lost, just glad for the wet earth around him.

@Drifa as Afird Splitaxe and Olfat the Badger(1 A roll: 5 ) +5

as Jib Jara with Muck-raker the Snake (1 A Roll: 6) -3

As Cold Drake with Sid the worm(1 A roll: 4 ) -2

Standings
as Afird Splitaxe and Olfat - +20 (FINISHED)
Snuggles the Hedgehog - +19 (FINISHED)
Jib Jara and Muck-raker - +5(FINISHED)
As Cold Drake with Sid - +1 (FINISHED)
Naelia and Asmodeus - 0 (2/15)FINISHED

Apparently the rage that the little prickling pricker had passed him was enough to drive Olfat the Badger on for the Championship win!

Congratulations to @Drifa for winning the Season 1 Championship race!

I think given how slow racing was especially towards the end we will take a bit of a break from it. IF however anyone wants me to run it again before I decide to give it another go (or if you would like a shot at running it) please do let me know in the IK racing thread in the Admin area and I can toss you my tables for the dice rolls.
