Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white clean and bright
You look happy to meet me
Blossom of snow, may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever

Rest in peace, Christopher Plummer

Lovely, Aig! The Sound of Music is one of my favorite movies. I thought Christopher was so handsome in it. I first saw it in the mid 70's and was forever moved by it. ☺️

‘Try’
by the astounding Colbie Caillat.

'Put your make up on, Get your nails done
Curl your hair
Run the extra mile, Keep it slim
So they like you,
do they like you?

Get your sexy on, Don't be shy, girl
Take it off
This is what you want, to belong
So they like you,
do you like you?

You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing
You don't have to try, try, try, try

Get your shopping on, at the mall, max your credit cards
You don't have to choose, buy it all
Do they like you?
Do they like you?

Wait a second,
Why should you care, what they think of you
When you're all alone, by yourself
Do you like you?
Do you like you?

You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing

You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to bend until you break
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing

You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing

Take your make up off, Let your hair down
Take a breath
Look into the mirror, at yourself
Don't you like you?
Cause I like you
'

Decided not to try so hard today. Going back to bed with hot chocolate to re-watch Jurassic Park. Again.

You don't have to change a single thing or try so hard, @Ercassie . You're radiant, love yourself 😘. I was wondering why you vanished from Messenger, lol. I know Jurassic Park is your comfort movie(s), I hope it brightens your spirits again 🦖🦕.

I've loved The Sound of Music ever since childhood, @Drifa ! Plummer was a dashing fella. I'll miss him. I enjoyed many of his other roles like Chang, the Shakespeare-quoting Klingon in Star Trek.

Ever since I've read and watched The Man in the High Castle this song reminds me of the main theme from the series...

On a random note, surprisingly Daft Punk's Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger on repeat really helped me finish some posts. Talk about a throwback  Also listening to Red Parallax track from No Man's Sky soudtrack helped for some reason. Probably the tempo and rhythm kept me awake.

Out of sheer curiosity, I started listening to The Last Duel soundtrack composed by Harry Gregson-Williams. The music does have some Kingdom of Heaven vibes, which is no surprise since both movies directed by Ridley Scott are set in the Middle Ages. It's interesting that Scott chose the same composer for both movies. Kingdom of Heaven is one of the best movie soundtracks I've listened to, and so far The Last Duel is promising.

I have a range of soundtracks like movies as Avatar, Hidalgo, Heavens Kingdom, Dances with Wolves, Caribbean Pirates, Pocahontas, Brother Bear and Gladiator. But also of all six SW movies, as Tolkien. And singers and bands like: Enya, Julio Iglesias, Hammerfall, Wardruna, Viralay, Adjagas, Mari Boine Persen, Abba, Meatloaf, BZN, Sarah Brightman, Within Temptation, Celine Dion, Roxette, Enigma, Delerium, Era, Jennifer Rush, David Garret and Nemesis. And much more to choose from.

No Mind - Milkblood from Uncharted

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAGz-_N7ngg

Seen it four times so far, and I think Tom Holland did fine as a younger version of Nathan Drake, and yes, I have played the games. I bought the Uncharted 4 bundle when I first bought my PS4 about five years ago (geez, has it really been that long) so that I could try the first Jurassic World: Evolution game. I have since bought the rest of the series (The Nathan Drake Collection and Lost Legacy). I just noticed after my third viewing that Chloe wears the same necklace in the movie adaptation that she does in the games (which I wouldn't have noticed if I wouldn't have re-bought Lost Legacy on Walmart.com along with the necklace Nathan wears. Perhaps I'll do a gender swap for Halloween). I've never been any kind of purist, and that includes movies adapted from popular video games, not just books.

I'm now a big Konstrakta fan (see two songs up)! Been sending the link to all my friends and exploring her other songs. At my age its quite refreshing to discover something new.

Anyway, this is for @Fuin Elda. We used to live in the wilds of North Carolina and I'd often hear this song on the radio as i drove to work.

I recently learned of the band Stick Figure through my YouTube suggestions. I'd never heard of them before, but in this case the algorithm has served me well, as I quite like most of what I've heard so far. "Choice is Yours" and "Weight of Sound" are probably my favorite tracks of theirs.

Thanks @Fuin Elda, another to add to my still tiny country collection.

This man seems to push some buttons, but he was really my great NC discovery (never saw him live - would not have dared!). I think of him together with Ian Dury (above), one of those songwriters that can just do something amazing with words.

@Chrysophylax Dives, you're looking to expand your country collection, might I proffer a few suggestions? These aren't exactly the kind of groups you'll hear on the radio but I think they offer a very different and very essential view of country and what it can be. Those Poor Bastards, particularly "The Plague" and Me and That Man, any of which is fantastic.

@Frost, I very much appreciate that, and had to dig deep for an appropriate reply. Here is Blyth Power, who i have followed for nigh on 35 years. They could never play very well but the drummer who is the lead singer writes wonderfully obscure songs. Not much out there closer to my heart than this band.

Got me listening to all the old Blyth Power numbers, could not resist giving you this one too @Frost. A retelling of the knight and the dragon, with obvious appeal to one of my name. To be honest, the music of this one has always grated a bit but the story is superbly told.

Blyth Power Pastor Skull

Pastor Skull threw up his hands
Wept for the worm on the silver sands
Turned to the knight and cursed him through
May God forgive for I will never do

Gallows-bait sneer in his bully-boy's eye
We watched the knight go riding by
In shame at his sport was the village renamed
Wormingford t'was called and so remains

Full lyrics here.

i've hogged the turntable for a few numbers so put the mic down with this. on all my Country and inner redneck woman i guess you all guess that this is where i have spent my life trying to get to, but always from the outside. blyth power are the same - they came out of the Somerset punk scene; on one of their album notes we find a reference to "Wob, who sold his dad's tractor on glue" - such a proposition stirred mythical longings in me aged 17. i am born and bred London town. but with a lot of hard work i've had babies on my hip for years! :)

edit. i'm changing the last song. 7 minutes for a one-liner. this one is only for ents.
