Hi my lovelies,

Something to look forward to, should you be interested: A UK Plaza Meet. Obviously open to all. Obviously we are talking months in the future, possibly not even this annual year but if you are semi-interested, pop your location below and I will try and find a central, accessible location for us all.

Families, +1s, pets etc all welcome and included.

With love

Aodh & co are up for a gathering. We're in Shropshire, not a million miles from Sarehole Mill.

South-south west for me. Seriously anything beyond the Tamar is considered the north from here ! :smiley9:

That said, I have met at least five Plazaites in the past and haven’t been horribly murdered yet. Except in LARP, and that was fun ! So I wouldn’t turn down another potential meet, dependent on dates, etc of course. :smiley11:

I suspect I may be back in Canada by the time this happens, but if I am able to, I would love to come! :) Currently in the south-east.

@Ercassie amazing, I'm so jealous! Cornwall just has some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen; I did a bunch of really nice walks out from Porthcurno one weekend when I got to visit Cornwall Country Council for work (the dream!). It really did feel like I'd just stepped into a scene from Poldark. Seeing something in the Minack Theatre is now high on my list of things to do before I die.

South Central here - Hampshire. Happy to travel, if driving I can pick up people along the way (can fit up to 3 passengers). Bonus points if we pick somewhere I haven't been to yet!

Somerset, here - met some folks in Manchester a lifetime ago - I can't remember names except for Sil and Nerwen! No, it wasn't because we were drinking ... I think.

It would have to be a school holiday for me.

@Lirimaer Us drinking!?! Nah. Okay. I mean... the likely spot at this point is going to be London. Otherwise there is big compromises on travelling for half the group I guess.

Well if that indeed ends up being the case, given the singularly outrageous level of convenience that would be for me, I will of course be Buyer of the Drinks.

Depending on when this occurs, this California girl is seriously tempted to come on over. A piece of my heart will always belong in London.

To the extent I have any idea what I'll be doing in 2021, both of those options sound fine to me, and have the added bonus of higher potential for nice weather. Although if today is anything to go by, we'll need to have some nice sheltered options lined up. :smiley22:

I'm oop North, probably closer to Scotland than to where most of you live :smiley9: As long as it's on a major train route (and I haven't escaped the country for a new job) I'm in.

If ‘north’ is Shropshire I’m practically in the Arctic. North-east England here. Handy for the East Coast Mainline but have the car too.

Shropshire definitely isn't in the north. Everyone is of course at liberty to organise meets...I already have some hopeful plans with local people

I am slated to speak at a conference in the UK in the next year or so, if the pandemic doesn't make rescheduling it impossible. So, when/if that happens can we have a meet too?

I so need to meet @Aodh Hammerhelm; completely forgot you were in the UK until recently.

I'm North-west near Manchester; been to a few meets before (mostly following @Queen Nerwen and @Sil around in Leeds I think. I am terrible with names so if you aren't called Hans, Sam or Gill, I have no idea if I met you. @Lirimaer maybe I was at that one, or maybe not, honestly don't know.

I am a Hannah, so Hans is pretty close. ;)

I'm not even sure of the year, or the pub, so I am no help either! There were about 5 or 6 folks there, but the sad thing is I have a terrible memory for faces too!! Ack! We may have met!

I do recall many, many years ago when I was a wizzie, I met up with some folks in London ... and that was pretty weird because I didn't really interact with any of them on the plaza either before or after the event, since none of them were active in the slightest! I think I was just caught up in the excitement.

I could quite easily have been one of those fairly inactive plaza people you met in London @Lirimaer :smiley9: . I went to a few London ones, and I definitely spent several of the plaza meets I did do well aware of the fact that I only actually knew a handful of people's plaza aliases.

We must meet. We almost did yonks back. I remember us working on some complicated idea of meeting in Llanberris and climbing Snowdon.

@Nia Oh I wouldn’t forget you, and the joy of finding a shop called “Shiva” in York I think it was!

@Aodh Hammerhelm I’d forgotten about that; wow I was young and enthusiastic. I’ll skip the exercise these days and settle for coffee and a pint :smiley9:

@Allafyrefleorhtlig yes! I'd forgotten which city the meet was where we found that, but now I do remember it was the York one. That was one where there were about a dozen people (maybe more) and I think I knew about 4 of them.

And yup, the follow up to successfully lobbying for that name is for the evidence of its pronunciation :smiley8: .

@Winddancer I can say my name perfectly, can’t everyone? Honestly I can’t understand why so many people have such issues with it, it’s only 6 to 8ish syllables.

@Nia Yup, and there was alcohol involved, and one guy got super drunk and just randomly left halfway through the day? Or was that another York trip with @Sovielus and the Viking Museum?

Wait I definitely remember the random drunk person disappearing part way through. I sadly must have missed the Viking museum meet though.

I definitely went to one of the York meets, maybe around 2010. I probably left early as I was living at home and relying on public transport. I also have an absolutely terrible memory so I probably met a bunch of you and now don't remember

I did a York one in maybe ‘05/06? There were hobbits, and maybe 8 of us in total? I think we did a bit of a free city trail and went to a pub for food.

@Aethelu I think the York one I went to was around 2010ish... so I might well have met you. But I also have a terrible memory for these sorts of things, so who really knows!
