Ohh my gosh knowledge halls! Thank you! Even though my lore is so rusty I should go hide.
And I still maintain JRR Tolkien is the true Lord of the Rings.

@Lailyn You’re not the only one to hold to that fact about JRR Tolkien.

Thanks for this! The Knowledge Halls was one of the first things I did on OG Plaza, and I failed so spectacularly with them. Always hoped for a chance to re-take them, now that my knowledge of the lore is much better than it was in 2004....

Technically, he's the one who made them, right @Dincairwen ? :smiley10: I decided to take the loss of a point on that one.

@Lailyn You tagged the wrong person, but yes, he is the Lord of the Rings because he made them. Also, I genuinely was stumped for awhile as to why the greatest fantasy epic is named a major villain.

Cair and I have very similar names (and people confuse us a lot), but we came up with them completely separately.

:smiley9: Oh gosh. Here I go again confusing people's names... maybe they shouldn't let me back on this site!!! I am so sorry, @Dimcairien Luiniel ! Apparently I cannot read.

Just out of curiosity, could anyone who took the second test tell me where the answer to the last question is found in the books? Because if it is referring to the chapter "Of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit", the book has a different answer than the test, and that answer is, in vague form, on the test. The movie answer is also on there, but I thought we were going by the books. Unless my memory is shot, which it very well may be. Otherwise, I'm loving the knowledge halls!

Sorry guys! As @Mojo alluded to, there are some basically troll/joke answers in there, and if this made the question confusing, apologies for that. Never fear, I understand Mojo actually has a spreadsheet for all the troll answers (nerd) and we’ll do a bulk allot of unjustified points once it’s all done...

Might be a bit delay on points for the next few days as each one of us is eager to try this out, so we are leaving some for the ones that havent tried it yet :)

Is it just me, or is the answer to the first question in the second hall not listed? One answer is the way we usually think of the relation between the two, but it's not technically correct. (Hate to give the answer away, but weren't they cousins?) I'm answering with the one I think is intended to be the correct one.

Edit: Well, I fell for the old book v movie conundrum on the potatoes question as well. Went with what was closer to a book answer. :smiley16:

@Mojo @Sil that's a question for them :P

For all: As to points given for quizzes, there shouldnt be any delay now, unless none of us are on, then wait! :P

@Eléowyn yeah I stumbled on that question too, but did not follow your sensible logic and instead based my answer on the fact I thought it was maybe distant enough to merit 'no relation' status. :smiley12:

Don't have my books with me at my parent's house, but I know that Bilbo refers to Frodo as the relation in question in his speech.

@Dimcairien Luiniel Oh, you're right, I had forgotten about that speech! But technically, it's not true. I always thought of it as a more affectionate term that Bilbo used, mainly due to the difference in their ages. I'll have to look up the reference that spells out the true relationship. Hopefully I'll come back with that later.

Edit: Ok, found the reference (in addition to what is in the family trees)). From Chapter 1: "But he[Bilbo] had no close friends, until some of his younger cousins began to grow up. The eldest of these, and Bilbo's favourite, was young Frodo Baggins." And later in the same chapter, the Gaffer speaking: "So Mr. Frodo is his first and second cousin, once removed either way."

@Eléowyn, you are quite right. We went for the commonly described relationship between them rather than the strict blood relationship. For spotting that, I rather think you deserve an extra couple of points.

@Mojo - should we reword this? Let’s chat :smiley16:

I *may* have snuck some early 2000s internet culture references into these quizzes.

9/10 on the Rivendell, so not too bad. Plus, my points are even again. And the internet culture references are rather amusing.

The question in the third hall of knowledge where technically all four answers are right, does it score "correct" for every option?
