Every time I stand up something knocks me down this year. This is not just a moan - how about sharing strategies for at least staying upright a little longer?

Saranna: I don't really what you mean with staying upright. Is it literally that you're having troubles standing up out of bed? Or is it something mentally? The first thing I see with my elderly father (81) who has bits of trouble with walking and uses a rollator outside the house. And we have supporting arms on the toilets, and grab bars in the shower. But mentally, nah, we are both fine. I got bit down in the spring from just weeks on end with sunshine, but now it is raining I feel really well. I can offer a private listening ear if you want? :smooch:

Sorry to hear that your year has been the shire, Saranna. I always find music helps me through tough times. And a good cry. Hang in there.

You've got a friend
When you're down and troubled
And you need some loving care
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer, or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend
If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon, you'll hear me knocking at your door
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, running, yeah, yeah
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer, or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yes I will
Now ain't it good to know that you've got a friend
When people can be so cold?
They'll hurt you, yes and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
Oh, but don't you let them
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, running, yeah, yeah
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer, or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yes I will
You've got a friend
You've got a friend
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend?
Ain't it good to know?
Ain't it good to know?
Ain't it good to know?
You've got a friend
Oh, yeah now
You've got a friend
Yeah, baby
You've got a friend
Oh, yeah
You've got a friend

This year has been rough for us too so I definitely sympathize with the title.

Mostly I've been trying to just take it day-by-day, celebrate the small things, and focus on the present. :smooch:

You are not alone.

I try to remind myself to be kind to myself (and others) and take at least a few moments to do something nice for myself even if its something simple like making a cuppa tea or listening to a good (or cathartic) song or thinking about one positive thing I like about the world or my day or something. It's not always easy. Hang in there. hugs.

Saranna, and everyone else struggling, first of all - hugs!

I think I am also spending a lot of time in the dust this year, at least attempting to stay on my knees and not fall on my face. Having a good friend or two definitely helps. Also using long walks and running, roleplay, bird watching...
