Stake-out

The nights are dark, but they’re alive… You’re just out to have a good time - but who’s out there in the night with you?

HOW TO PLAY

- You may play as either a Vampire or a Scooby! Vampires post in RED, Scoobies post in BLACK!
- RP as yourself in one of the suggested locations: Sunnydale High, UC Sunnydale, The Graveyard, The Bronze, The Magic Box, The Museum, Sunnydale Mall, Doublemeat Palace, Sunnydale Hospital… You may choose other locations- but remember vampires can’t enter properties without invitation
- I will at each update roll a die to determine whether you meet a vampire or a human - and whether you successfully attack them!
- If you’re in the same location as another roleplayer, you may be set against them!
- Winner is whoever has made the most kills at the end

RULES

- no godmoding except by GM. If I dictate that you get bitten by a vampire, you may continue playing but it will count towards a vampire kill and knock one off yours. (You may also choose to die and resurrect as a new character but keeping your score). Same for vampires who get attacked by Scoobies.
- named characters are first come first served but you can have duplicates by agreement
- Thread is 15+, please expect blood, biting, and shenanigans

Cornflower waiting patiently in the darkness outside The Museum. She knew sooner or later that one of the museum mice would welcome her in. They always did. They never sensed the change in her; how her fur gleamed lustrously, and her eyes glowed with an eerie red light. Or how two sharp teeth slipped out from her mouth. No, they saw she was a country field mouse with a headband and spoon—a mild creature. They always let her in.
Pity the one who did. She had a thirst now and could not live without their warm blood. It had all happened, her turning, a fortnight ago on a moonless night. But that is a tale for another time.

Spike - Sunnydale High

Though Spike was technically still a vampire, that chip in his head caused him pain every time he tried to harm someone, so until he got it removed or it somehow malfuctioned, he would have to stay a "scooby" for the time being. "Scooby! What am I, a talking dog!?" the former evil doer thought to himself, since he was sure that most people have heard of Scooby Doo, a cartoon of a bunch of teenagers (or young adults, since Spike was never sure if their ages were ever mentioned) and their talking dog, a brown spotted Great Dane, driving around the country solving mysteries in their "Mystery Machine" van.

The reason he was in Sunnydale High, was that Spike had heard rumors that some sort of rift had opened up that was leading vampires from other worlds into this one. "Not if I can put a stop to it!" the former villain thought to himself, but he was intrigued to what these otherworldy vampires actually looked like, since maybe one of them could help him get that chip out of his head, then it's bye bye do gooder Spike and back to his vampiric shenanigans (including ridding the world of a certain Slayer), but first, he would have to play good for just a little while longer...

Cornflower waited. It would seem that no one was up at this late hour. But mice are nocturnal? Surely one nosy rodent was apt to see her red glowing eyes in the dark and come to investigate? Had they caught on to her tricks? She paused, wondering. Should she change her mind and try another location? Maybe the DoubleMeat Palace, where the mice are extra fat and juice - but with blood high in cholesterol? She was in doubt for only a moment. The mice at The Museum had a more sophisticated tang running through their veins. She would wait. She was never tired now, since the turn.
Looking towards the heavens, she remembered. It was the same deep black blanket without stars or a moon as the night she changed. She had been forging for wild mushrooms, a nutty variety she enjoyed in her meat pies. The sky had been overcast all day, and it was getting darker. She knew she must hurry home, for the forest was wild at night. Or at least, she had to lie low till morning. She covered her basket of fungi and adjusted her headband. Turning in the direction of home, she was suddenly...

Spike - Sunnydale High

"Did I get the location wrong?" Spike wondered when he didn't see a rift open up and the high school seemed to be deserted for the time being. He would wait around for a little while longer before the former vampire would move on to another location.

As a former vampire, sometimes those (like a certain Slayer that would remain nameless for the time being) that wanted to trick him might give him the wrong information, but perhaps these vampires from other worlds other than Earth were simply biding their time, so Spike would wait around the deserted high school for a little longer to see if they showed themselves. He was still curious as to what otherworldly vampires actually looked like. Did they have fangs? Drink blood? Have yellow eyes (while in his vampiric form, Spike's eyes had a yellow hue, but the eyes of a vampire could be any color, really; red, yellow, green; depending on the tribe of vampire that targeted the victim in the first place. Red eyed vampires seemed to be the more powerful breed, but it wasn't always the case. Who knew what the rules were for vampires that sired from a world other than the one claimed by human beings, such as Earth)?

@Drifa
Cornflower is heading for home when - one of the Squirrels accosts her! It’s a Red Squirrel, Cornflower recognises her as being named Willow… but before Cornflower can attack, Willow burns Cornflower with holy water! OH NO! You have been wounded!

@Lady of Shadow Spike sees a suspicious figure wearing terribly outdated clothing and slinks over to check it out. Yeah… waxy skin, speedy movements - definitely one of the undead. But just as Spike is making for the vampire, it sees him and turns tail, running away!

Feel free to RP your responses to the above before picking a new location To hunt!

Cornflower felt a searing pain and was jerked back from the past 'eh, pause' to the new reality - a cursed one at that. Her fur smoulder, seared from an attack.
"Holy Water!" she squeaked.
Where once it had been cool and refreshed, water, Holy Water, in particular, was now a constant threat. Cornflower scurried off as fast as she could to avoid further attempts at purification. She ran under some old crates stored behind the Museum. It would look like her assailant, a tough-looking red squirrel that she had seen before by the name of Willow, was going to give pursuit. She was a quick creature this Willow, but Cornflower was much more so since she had become a blood-drinking rodent. She would have to give the squirrel the slip and find a new feeding ground this night.
She decided to dine on the mice with the hardened arteries over at the DoubleMeat Palace after all. She was dead now; what had she to lose besides sucking harder? She moved off with lightning speed. The quick red squirrel lost in her dust. [color]ed

Spike - Sunnydale High

"Finally! Something's happening!" Spike thought to himself when he noticed a suspicious figure watching his every move. Since the figure was wearing clothing that was extremely outdated on Earth (more the type of clothing one would wear in an old vampire movie), he knew that this must be one of the undead from another realm. Since he looked human (or at least he was at one time), the former vampire surmised that this vampire must be from Earth, but somehow was wearing outdated clothing. "Perhaps he crashed some sort of a 60's Halloween party?" Spike thought to himself as he decided to check it out.

Moving at the pace a common house cat would use when it was stalking its prey, the former vampire crept behind the figure, but managed to trip over a rogue tree branch and cursed in a high pitched voice, which resulted in the suspicious character realizing he wasn't alone, as he high tailed it out of the deserted high school. "Of all the rotten luck!" Spike said a loud to no one in particular, and began to chase the unsavory character, since perhaps he would lead him to the location where the rift really appeared (If there even was one, but then why would someone or something give him false information). Spike knew that the only way he was going to find out was to follow the figure, but since he knew he was being pursued, Spike would have to be on the lookout for any kind of trap the unsavory character would attempt to set to throw the former vampire off his trail.

Cornflower was sated with the fatty blood of a DoubleMeat rodent. It had been an easy kill, for the victim had been too slow to get away. Her fur was subtle and healthy after her meal, and the skin in her ears and the tip of her nose glowed pink. She detected no scent of the red squirrel, Willow, so she rested for a while near an abandoned takeout box that someone had littered at the back of the establishment. She would find a new place to feed soon but rested right now.
The dawn was not far off when she finally stirred. She would have to find a good hiding spot away from the light of day. The Graveyard and many good places. And so she hurried off quickly to avoid the coming day. And who knew what would be lurking in the dark when the sun went down on the graves? Maybe Cornflower would find a friend. Or another victim.

Buffy Summers - UC Sunnydale

She'd just left Stevenson Hall about half an hour ago, but she was already hungry. Peeved, Buffy reached into the pocket of her fall coat and pulled out one of the many pieces of candy she'd brought along with her. Patrolling was boring if nothing happened, and tiring when something did. So what else was there to do but bring snacks?

Cornflower had found the perfect hiding spot below a flat grave marker belonging to one Horace A Fondskill and bid the day good night. The sound of the first owl hoot brought her out of her trance, and she knew the sun had set. She passed a peaceful night even with the high cholesterol blood running through her. Emerging carefully from Mr. Fondskill's plot, she looked about her. No angry red squirrel. That was a good thing. But alas, she could sense nothing stirring in The Graveyard except the wind whistling past. She knew she would have to feed again soon and so decided to make her way back to the DoubleMeat Palace. As she stated before, she was dead, so what did it matter what she ate? And frankly, she was starting to like the saturated fat.

Spike - Sunnydale High

As Spike was chasing one vampire, another one came out of nowhere and attacked him. "Of all the..." the former vampire thought to himself as he was wrestled to the ground as he tried to pursue the first vampire. This new vampire seemed to be new to him, since when did vampires bite rodents? And why would they do such a thing!? Grabbing the vermin by the neck, he threw it into a nearby bush as he looked around for something to stab it in its puny little heart. "Let's see, what to use on a rodent..." he thought to himself as he spotted a shattered piece of glass in the middle of the road, probably the result of some type of car accident. "This will do nicely." the former vampire thought to himself as the vampiric mouse made a reappearance.

When he or she tried to bite Spike in the neck (it had no idea that he was a former vampire, so it tried to turn him into one, but due to that plate in his head, he couldn't actually hurt anyone back), he managed to stab the pathetic creature in the chest, ending its rein of terror. After the vampiric mouse disappeared in a cloud of dust, Spike got up and dusted himself off, but instead of throwing the broken piece of glass in a nearby bush, he put it in a pocket on the inside of his leather jacket and headed in the direction of The Magic Box, to see if he could find out how a rodent could be turned into a vampire and to possibly dispose of any more of the treacherous little vermin.

Buffy Summers - UC Sunnydale

"Where aaaare you?" she asked quietly, in a high-pitched tone of voice, if only to pass the time. "A campus full of snacks awaits for the fashionably impaired. No takers?" Buffy sighed. To the outside observer it would probably look thrilling and adrenaline-packed, but most of the time patrolling was simply walking and waiting. Or sitting and waiting. Basically, a lot of waiting. She pouted as she looked around at the trees and the shrubberies along the campus pathways.

Nothing.

Discovering a long-forgotten but still nicely wrapped lollipop in her coat, Buffy opened it up absent-mindedly. Just when she popped it into her mouth, she heard something. A raised voice.

Now, Buffy had made the mistake before of rushing over to a few guys and breaking up their fight. More than once actually. When both of the guys were human, they generally did not care for it. She had gotten angry looks and snide comments a few times - the results of the fragile male ego. Especially when a little blonde girl made it clear she had more strength than they did. Sticks and stones - but honestly it still hurt, deep down. "At least one of them should be grateful," she muttered quietly. ""Gee, thanks, Buffy!" - "You're welcome, mister rando!" - One of us feels appreciated and the other got saved; everybody's happy. Is that too much to ask?"

It usually was. So, this time, she was wise enough to approach carefully. But once she got the pair in her line of sight, it was more than obvious. One of them had that nice California tan. Buffy had the same one. The other guy's complexion looked like skimmed milk by comparison. He had some leather on him, too. It was way too shiny for the season. Not to mention the horrific boots.

And then there were the obvious fangs. Can't forget those. Hungrily trying to reach the tanned guy's neck.

"Mhmh!" The 'oh' was muffled by the lollipop. But muffling aside, Buffy put on her game face and ran toward the pair, pulling out Mr Pointy. When she was right behind the vampire, she airily tapped his shoulder. "Excuse me," she began in her best schoolgirl voice, "do you know where I can get a snack this time of night?"

When the vampire turned his head toward her in surprise, she backhand-punched the side of his face, throwing him off her fellow student. The vampire recovered quickly, and snarled ferociously at Buffy. He looked like he was ready to take her head off.

The other guy, the victim, the tanned strong jock - evident by his sports jacket, broad shoulders and athletic build - took one look at the vampire, a second look at Buffy, and then simply made a run for it. Buffy frowned after him, and took the lollipop from her mouth with her left hand. "Chivalry's dead," she muttered. The vampire tried to hit her face nd missed, but her hand got slapped away instead, and her lollipop rolled onto the campus pathway.

"Hey!" Buffy protested, as offended by a demon who clearly wanted to kill her as she would have been by a teenager who was trying to cut in line for breakfast. "That one was strawberry-cream!" She did not need to mention it was the best kind. Everyone knew strawberry-cream was the best.

Angry, she took it out on the faux-leather vamp. He had to take a number of punches and kicks more than she really needed before she dusted him with her stake. Of course, the breeze picked up a bit just at the right time, and a bit of dust-vamp blew into her face - not to mention right where her poor lollipop had ended up. The Slayer gave the strawberry-cream lollipop a sad look. With a sad expression, she picked it up, blew on it, and covered it with the wrapper she'd kept in her pocket. "Let's find you a nice trash can."

Even though the vamp had not been much of a challenge, he'd still managed to deprive her from the best snack her coat currently had to offer. Maybe next time she should bring chocolate-chip cookies. Pondering this possibility, Buffy started heading toward the Magic Box. That place deserved a bit more attention. It had been subject to destruction more than a few times too many, and Buffy had taken it upon herself to try and save Giles some money in the restoration-department.

@Lady of Shadow: You successfully slay the teensiest weensiest little vampire ever at school. Perhaps some sort of mutated vampire bat without wings? Anyway. You prowl over to the Magic Box and patrol for a while but nobody seems to be there… except some innocent witches window shopping. Wait - is that Buffy?

@Arnyn

You also head over to the Magic Box. On your way there you spot what you’re sure is a vampire with the snarky face and give chase! But they vault over the wall and disappear. When you look over they’ve completely vanished from sight! Disappointed you head back towards the Magic Box but nobody else threatening seems to be there. Wait, is that Spike??

Buffy Summers - The Magic Box

't is true: the cover of night covered much. Shadows were a vampire's best friend, especially when they were all bumpy and gross. But vampires were pale, very pale. And so it did not take as much light as you might think to reveal that they weren't just humans in desperate need of botox.

When she spotted one, Buffy straightened her shoulders and started her approach. Yet it seemed that her reputation had preceded her in this case. The vamp took one look at the tiny blonde who was determinedly making her way over to him, and sprinted in the opposite direction.

"Aww, chucks!" Buffy exclaimed. Her legs moved faster and faster, until she reached full Slayer speed, and she followed the demon as it winded through a few alleys and then jumped a wall. Buffy followed, unafraid of what await her at the other side - and then it appeared that nothing awaited her at all. The vamp was nowhere to be seen. Buffy frowned. "Ooooohhh, bumpy ooone?" she called out, as if calling to a kitten, while she approached a dumpster. "Here, Bumpy!" She suddenly checked behind the dumpster, as if she were playing hide and seek with a kid. "Aww." She pouted. "Nothing." A sigh. She didn't like it when they got away.

Her wild vampchase had taken her somewhat toward the Magic Box, but she was too far west and adjusted her course accordingly. She deposited the dusted strawberry-cream lollipop into a trashcan just when she saw a bleached head of gelled back hair and a long, dramatic leather coat. "Oh, great," she muttered. "This is just what my night needed."

Buffy approached and stopped a few yards away from Spike. "What are you doing here? The menu at the butcher's shop was too oinky and you wanted to stare at what you can't have?" she taunted, gesturing discreetly at the witches not too far away.

@Arnyn Spike makes no reply as yet - but it’s just as well, as your attention is drawn by the growl of another vampire who has unwisely decided you are a target! Just as you turn to face her, she recognises you as the Slayer (and maybe William the Bloody) and decides better of it. You give chase - but this time she gets away, how?

Spike - The Magic Box

Spike just arrived at The Magic Box when he recognized a familiar voice: "Speak of the devil..." he thought to himself when he noticed that Buffy seemed to have followed him there. Or perhaps she was pursuing another vampire, just as he had been doing?

"I'm not here for you, love." Spike began, even though Buffy was hardly a lover, though he liked to address her as such, just to see how she would react. "I'm checking out to see if a rift opened up somewhere that is allowing vampires from other worlds to enter our own, so if you'll excuse me..." he stated as he moved to a different section of The Magic Box to get away from anymore unnecessary questions from the Slayer. He was also checking to see if there were any more vermin that were turned into vampires (though he still couldn't understand how that could have happened, except if a vampire might have been turned into one and then simply bit a regular mouse, even if by mistake if he or she was simply trying to put it out of its misery, so to speak) and just happened to run into Buffy in the same location. If it weren't for that plate in his head, he might be working for the vampires instead of the "Scoobies" and there was a good chance he would try to turn the Slayer into one, just so she sees how it feels to lust for human blood...

The high cholesterol blood flowed down her throat and threw her dead veins, and Cornflower rolled her eyes in ecstasy. There was no going back to those health nuts at the gym now. She loved this fat blood. But as the blood flushed her white skin, a rosy pink beneath her sleek fur, she knew it was time to move on. Too many kills might draw attention to the joint and other blood drinkers. And although she had become a ruthless killer for survival's sake, deep down, she was still the practical field mouse that liked cooking and orderliness.
The sun was about to peak over the horizon, and Cornflower, sticking to the shadows, moved quickly off towards Sunnydale Hospital . Maybe there would be a few bleeders waiting on stretchers in hallways where the light is dim and no one about waiting to be drained?
