No, I am more unique than a pipe.

I never considered this interesting fact until you asked if it was a pipe. I can not recall one instance in TLOTR where Frodo is actually described as smoking a pipe. Can you, or anyone else, remember?

Did Frodo bring it from the Shire?

Drifa: I don't have a memory either. Thus had as sniff in the lexicon to answer your question. Those who have/or had a pipe and thus smoked on the Fellowship journey are: Aragorn, Gandalf, Gimli, Merry, Pippin and Sam. Their conversations are about it. Tolkien did put a lot of details about their cravings, if they cannot have pipeweed. Those not smoking are: Frodo, Boromir and Legolas. They say nothing to little about it on the journey.

Is it the mithril shirt Frodo wears on the journey gotten from Bilbo (who does smoke :googly: )?

No, Frodo did not bring me from the Shire.

With questions and responses, we have established (if you look back through the posts) that I am not related to warfare, I am not some clothing, and I am not metal. The mithril coat that Frodo wore is related to warfare (it is a coat of mail), it is worn like clothing, and it is made of metal. No, I am not the coat of mail that Frodo wore.

Hmm, what Frodo got are the Sting Word and the mithril mail from Bilbo in Imladris, then from Lothlorien an elvencloak, hithlain in the boat, lembas they can eat and starlight flask from Galadriel. More I cannot think off what Frodo would get and what he did not take from home. I have no idea further than this. :headshake:

Sorry I loose oversight after a number of posts on different pages.

Did Frodo acquire it between leaving the Shire and coming to Rivendell?

Yes, I was used between the Shire and Rivendell.

Aiks,
We all know what Frodo obtained during the course of the story, but we've likely guessed most of them during this game on the Plaza. Why keep repeating the same questions about who, what, or where? There are many other things, places, and people that Frodo encountered.
The Lord of the Rings is a fascinating universe with various characters, locations, and events.
Reviewing the previous guesses and responses is an essential part of the game.

So, go to the books—don’t give up!

Would it be then the mushrooms Frodo got from Merry and Pippin, that was used to distract the Black Rider?

I am not alive.
I am not related to warfare.
Elves do not make me.
No, I am not a household in or around that I have read about.
No, dwarves did not make me.
No, I am not a building or monument.
I am not clothing or part of clothing.
No, you can not consume me.
I am not related to agricultural activities.
One can not hold me in one hand.
I am not metal.
I am not related to husbandry.
You will not find me in The Hobbit.
There is wood in me, but I am not of wood; yes, I am in TLOTR.
You will not find me in The Silmarillion.
I am not a vehicle or a ship.
I am not of stone.
I am not an object that one can remove from my location.
It does not state that I am one of a kind, although I am mentioned twice in TLOTR.
A member of the fellowship uses me.
I am not a horn.
I am not a container.
I am not rope, Hithlain.
A Hobbit uses me.
Sam does not use me.
Frodo uses me.
Merry and Pippin do not use me.
I am not the Phial of Galadriel.
I am not a pipe.
No, Frodo did not bring me from the Shire.
No, I am not the coat of mail that Frodo wore.
Yes, between the Shire and Rivendell, I was used.
I am not mushrooms.

Hmm, not much is there then to think off. But perhaps the advisery words from Haldir and his company going west? That is the only thing I can think off. But fruther there is nothing really what Frodo got between Shire and Imladris. :headshake:

Are you Frodo's hatchet?

by Drífa
No, sorry, Aiks.
‘I brought a little hatchet for chopping firewood,’ said Frodo. ‘That wouldn’t be much use.’
‘Wait a minute!’ cried Sam, struck by an idea suggested by firewood. ‘We might do something with fire!’
‘We might,’ said Frodo doubtfully. ‘We might succeed in roasting Pippin alive inside.’
‘We might try to hurt or frighten this tree to begin with,’ said Sam fiercely. ‘If it don’t let them go, I’ll have it down,
if I have to gnaw it.’ He ran to the ponies and before long came back with two tinder-boxes and a hatchet. TFOTR, The Old Forest
That is a good guess, but I am still more unique than a hatchet. And remember:
Frodo used me.
I am not of metal.
There is wood in me, but I am not of wood.

Drifa, sorry you didn't read my reply very well. I said if it was leather or bone combined with wood, not of wood. That fits exactly with, 'there is wood in me'. What are the other materials then? Bone, leather, glass/stone or something else, not metallic?

 I am indeed the rhyme/song that Tom taught the Hobbits to sing 'if they should by ill-luck fall into any danger or difficulty" and that Frodo used to call for help when he was in the Barrow-downs.
This rhyme/song is only mentioned twice in TLOTR. The word wood is in it:
There is wood in me, but I am not of wood; yes, I am in TLOTR.
Ho! Tom Bombadil, Tom Bombadillo!
By water, wood and hill, by the reed and willow,
By fire, sun and moon, harken now and hear us!
Come, Tom Bombadil, for our need is near us!
TFOTR

Thanks for hammering away at it, Arothir!
