"Asleep apparently."" Fuin muttered as Soreya questioned her. And she did not fault Soreya for her suspicion.
"You are welcome to think ill of me, I am sad that my 'hobbit' ally is no more, but I think it is time for this to come to a close, as much as I am loath to do it. I think it is wise if we look into Orngor today, though I would understand if you did not wish to follow me in that. After all I am an elf, though I do not know if you know the meaning of my name. Once evil did fill my heart so this place is a test for me to make sure that I have that under control." She gave a wry smile "And murdering hobbits, and haradrim when we are not at war does not suit me well. Orcs perhaps but I tend to prefer that in western lands than walking into Mordor to do such."
She turned to Yarltang. "I accuse Orngor"

Orngor - Orc
It didn't surprise Orngor that the she-elf accused him of being the murderer once again, but this was the one time he was in fact, innocent. "I have committed many crimes in my long years of being in servitude to the Dark Powers in the Land of Shadow, but this is the one time I have not. Orcs aren't known for their smarts, we pretty much just do as we're told or else risk being disposed of." the Orc minion concluded. He wasn't about to accuse Soreya, since although she did stick up for him once, he wasn't about to do anything that would cause anyone else to become suspicious of him, Orc minion or not, and he still had no proof that she was the one responsible for committing the atrocities in this land. That left one person (well, technically two, but he wasn't sure about the other Haradrim either, the one known as Khirra, so he wasn't about to accuse her either, not without proof. Orngor liked to be thorough when he accused anyone of any wrong doing, since a mistake could cost him his life); the she-elf that he originally suspected.
"I accuse the she-elf known as Fuin," the trusted Orcish helper began, "since if she were truly innocent, why did the one she claimed to protect end up dead?"

Soreya, Haradrim
"I do not know the meaning of your name, elf," she snarled to Fuin, "the feel of your language is foul on my tongue. But I will consider your argument." She asserted with faint interest in what the elf meant when she said evil had once filled her heart...how very interesting. Though none could be trusted and the elf could be lying. Never trust what someone says about themselves especially when they are suspected of murder.
The orc accused Fuin. Khirra had yet to speak. All three of them were loathsome in their own way and she struggled to hold herself back from just offing them all herself, problem solved.
"Khirra did nothing of note today when I followed her. It could be cause for suspicion but I don't think it is." After a dramatic pause, she finally made her decision. "I accuse Orngor of these crimes despite his lack of intelligence which he so callously admitted. Perhaps it was a bid to cover up for himself. We all know orcs will kill for the most petty reasons."

Yarltang surveys the shrinking group, growing more irritated by the moment. This time, at least, a few had returned to make their accusations. And they had chosen the only orc in the group. "Orgnor, you have incurred the wrath of your fellow searches. Take your punishment." The huge orc rises from his throne, raises the massive warhammer, and hurls it at Orgnor. It strikes the unfortunate orc in the face, exploding his head like a ripe melon, and spattering gore on the rest of the hall's inhabitants.
Yarltang and the searchers retire for the night.
But they were all of them deceived...
Orgnor was NOT the murderer!
In the deep of the night, the murderer sneaks up on Fuin, shaking out a garrote... but lo! Fuin, the Night-watchman, whirls about and raises her lantern, revealing... KHIRRA, THE MURDERER! A swift struggle ensues, and ends with the murderer dead on the ground, slain by the victorious she-elf.
In the garish light of day, Yarltang surveys the group of searchers, much smaller than when they started, but boiling with their success. "Well done," he growls, resentfully, "you have succeeded in catching the murderer... this time. But in this town, you know it'll only be a matter of time before we're back here looking for another one."
CONGRATULATIONS, TOWNSPEOPLE!
Through the efforts of your Night-watchman, the Murderer has been caught and killed, and you win!!
Fuin and Soreya have survived the night.

We did it everyone! Congrats!
Personally, I felt like the game was too short, I would love to have another round or two of this game. I had a ton of fun doing 1st person Jorgy and hopefully a few people enjoyed reading him. I think in order to do justice to the game, we have to go again!

I would also like to play again, but will have to create a new character, since Naelia's short a helper (which is why I'll never be playing as my main character, since there's no way I'm killing her off, she's too much fun). Perhaps a Haradrim this time around? Though I'm at a loss for names, but am open for suggestions. Doesn't matter if the character is male or female (i can play both). Another thought is to bring Lathana into it, since I mostly created her to be a victim, so it doesn't matter if she lives or dies. I think Naelia can function well enough on her own, since the main reason she had a helper in the first place was to watch over her after her mother kidnapped her to make sure that didn't happen again. Regardless of whether Naelia still has family on her mother's side, they probably don't know about her and would treat her like any other minion.

I liked the game, although I'd have to draw up a new (and hopefully longer-lived

) character. Although
Shasta is in prime position for some tormenting... can you murder a spirit a second time?

Theres absolutely no reason you have to consider character deaths in this thread canon or permanent unless you want to
Any that were killed in the first game are welcome to reappear for the next!

And apologies @Lady of Shadow I was suppose to inspect you the night before but got messed up on the timeline and missed doing it so wanted to end it last round and it was you and corli left.

Perhaps I will bring Orngor back, since even Naelia's half-sister,
Lathana, was brought back a second time (mostly to be tortured by Naelia herself), so perhaps the Dark Powers can do the same for him? It would be easier than creating a whole new character, and there's a good chance Lathana's never getting out of the Pits. I can just imagine her reaction to seeing him after hearing he was killed in Angmar:
"I thought you were dead!" Lathana screamed at Orngor, when she recognized one of the Orcs that first captured her.
"Where did you hear that, she-elf?" Orngor sneered, wishing Naelia were here, since the minioness would get a kick out of this.
"Some murderer in Angmar." Lathana stated, hearing rumors every time a new "victim" was brought down to the Pits.
"Don't you know that servants of the Dark Powers can be resurrected? Especially if they're important, like yours truly?" Orngor replied, revelling in the fact that he could at least make
one Elf's life miserable.
No worries
@Fuin Elda but be warned; if Orngor ends up being the killer in the next round, he'll probably target the Elf first (he really
hates Elves, probably even more than Naelia)!

This was fun and I agree short, would love to go again! Personally I'd really like even just a little bit more than 48 hours between rounds next time if possible.

I think the answer is clear that we're going again!! So it is written, so it shall be! Let's experiment with going 72 hours between rounds this time, and see if that gives people more time to RP within the round, and still get their accusations in! thanks for the suggestion, @Lail. If everyone signed up for the round makes their final accusation prior to the deadline, the update may come early.
SIGNUPS ARE NOW OPEN FOR GAME 2 OF HALL OF JUDGEMENT!!
There will be a new five day signup period to allow you to tell all your friends, enemies, frenemies, and random strangers to get themselves in here. As before, sign up by RPing your entrance into the hall!

MUAHAHAHAHA No one voted for me as Murderer!!!!!
and @Lail I loved Khirra and Soreya (LOVED IT, seriously) - I might have to find Soreya back in Harad. Thanks for going with my crazy idea!
@Moriel YOU are AMAZING and wonderful! Thanks so much for this! I had FAR TOO MUCH FUN with this!
@Fuin Elda I literally told @Moriel that I was doomed to die going after you, the likelihood of surviving you was not very high!
@Vampire Bob I totally enjoyed trying to kill you not once, but twice!
@Lady of Shadow I felt a kindred evil spirit to your Orc, so I couldn't kill him directly (though I had no problem letting him be accused of murder and dying that way... ... ...)
@Zôrzimril your character was inventive! I had to really think about how you worked before I decided to try to get you to die by accusation as well :)
This week at work is literally the crawl to Mt Doom, and my successful project completion (well, part one of many) is coming up Friday - I just have to make it to the platform in the Volcano!

@corlisswyn HOPEFULLY that sort of streak continues since I plan on continuing to play . Honestly it was a toss up between you and LoS for who I was going to vote for. It was fun.
Fuin for her part lets out a sigh of relief that murderer was captured at the eleventh hour. Of course there was always another murderer to catch in Mordor, and she honestly felt like she had managed well enough, yes there were a few flaws to it. She had not found it as swiftly as she had liked but had done well. She turned to face Yarltang, "I will stay in these halls and perhaps deal out more judgement."

@Moriel you're assuming that a string of painful deaths and resurrections isn't exactly what I want, in canon, for
Shasta to go through
Speaking of...
For ten days, he suffered in the dark. It was against everything he knew of the natural means of the world -- where were the Golden Halls of Sunrise? Where was the Salt-king's Watery Palace, the home of every brave mariner? Or had he fallen to far from the sea? Did there flow no river through this blasted land, to bear his soul to the Great Waters?
For ten days, he suffered in the dark. It took eleven nights for the room around him to take form. As they approached dawn, Shasta awoke. He was in a comfortable bed, in a small but richly furnished chamber. He did what he had been doing every morning, his whole life: He got out of bed, hating and mistrusting the world around him.
But there was nobody there. Robes -- fine robes, the robes of an Angmarim Prince -- were folded neatly beside the bed. He slipped them on -- and in the process, caught a glimpse of the new scars which crisscrossed his body. He froze -- and then the same fire which had brought him home across two continents of ocean lit in his heart. I will have revenge he thought, On all those who did this to me. Meaning the voters, of course. Although whoever had -- saved him from death? Pushed his spirit back into the sown-together scraps of his body? Shasta would have firm words with them too.
He climbed the stairs and crossed narrow corridors quickly, as if he had been born in these winding corridors. He knew this place, knew every inch of it. He had lived her for thousands of-- No, he had been here a week at most. Not thousands of unspecified unit of time. That was ridiculous.
Only slightly perturbed, Shasta pushed hard on the iron door. It swung wide with a clang, revealing the weary survivors of the last night. "Well, hello." he announced. "I'm back."

Búbosha, Journalist Extraordinaire; Court Recorder; Annoyed Goblin
Fussily, Búbosha adjusted her spectacles. They did absolutely nothing for her eyesight, given that they were crafted from the bottoms of two beer glasses; but they did prevent some of the more gloopy missiles that were frequently hurled at her in court from impeding her vision. She scuttled up the stairs into the Hall of Judgement, pulling a quill pen (actually a discarded batwing bone) and some parchment (actually some miscellaneous flayed skin) from her handbag (actually a cut open rat).
“Hello everyone, and I’m Búbosha from the Hall of Injustice, here to report on the latest murders that have been shocking and delighting the land! It came to light that the sneaky stabber (and strangler, and baker) was none other than Khirra, finally caught and destroyed by a horrible She-elf, still out roaming our lands! No goblin is safe with one of these around. Stay alert and stay tuned as yours truly attempts to get to the bottom of what’s really going on here.”

Fleeg
There goes the neighborhood, or whatever passes for a neighborhood it... Carn Dûm? Fleeg had arrived. He had no idea why he was there. He’d received a poorly written note from his CHaoS BRo about causing mayhem, though gorilla had spelled it “Mahim”, up in the north. Fleeg hated the north. Why would anyone live up here when there was clearly better places to be south of… well south? Goblins were not meant to live where it was cold. Their green skin tones clearly noted that they thrived in tropical climates. Why does he live in Mordor then? Well that’s where all the good stuff is. He couldn’t very well open a murder hornet apiary in Umbar now could he? No. He couldn’t for many reasons, one being those humans are horribly racists against goblins there. Like bad. Another reason was real estate was so expensive in the harbor, the only place worth setting up a shop. Third, it was wet and near water. Water is the devil.
Anyway, none of that has an actual bearing on anything. Fleeg was in Angmar. It was cold. Reg was nowhere in sight. Those were the pertinent facts.
Casually, as an out of place goblin does, he made his way through the town toward The Hall of Judgement. It sounded similar to The Halls of Injustice back home. What was with minions and halls and such? He shrugged. Maybe he’d come up with a few suggestions they could… huh? What was she doing here? Was this a trick? Was Reg behind this? If he were smarter than a donkey load of bananas, Fleeg would have suggested it was, but since he wasn’t…
Play it cool, Fleeg, play it cool.
He entered the hall with chest puffed out and a swagger that… he tripped and tumbled into the hall flat on his scrawny goblin butt.

"Ouch, that hurt!" Orngor complained as he woke up in a different part of Carn Dum, that seemed to be the capital of the kingdom of Angmar. The last thing he remembered he was being accused of a murder that he didn't commit and a rather large looking Orc (he was so large that he might in fact have been an Uruk-hai rather than an Orc, or some kind of hybrid) was swinging something that looked like a war hammer towards his head. Then... darkness, until he woke up in another part of Carn Dum put back together, with one side effect: a massive headache.
As he opened his eyes and looked around, someone said something about being wrongly accused and given a second chance. When the Orc could focus again, he could have sworn the person resembled the Halfling, Jorgy, but that couldn't be right, since wasn't he also killed? If it was him, he seemed to be some kind of resurrection expert and would have to thank him (and not accuse him again if someone else ended up dead, which wouldn't take long in a place like Carn Dum in Angmar).
As he made his way back to the Judgement Hall, he recognized a few faces, the she-elf Fuin and the one known as Shasta, who also seemed to be brought back from the dead. Orngor's memory was still a little foggy, so he couldn't remember how Shasta died. There were a few new faces including a female goblin (he didn't see many of those around, but they did exist). "Since I was wrongly accused," the trusted Orcish helper began, "I have been somehow brought back to life and wish to hunt down the next murderer!" Orngor exclaimed, hoping he would live through this one.

Regdûsh
It had been a very, very long week.
Reg had scrambled and clambered along the mountains from south to north, failing to realize that there was a perfectly decent road along which he probably could've navigated with greater ease. Ah, well. What
Reg lacked in smarts, he made up for in . . . anger? The uncanny ability to process huge quantities of Nazgûl Essence without permanent liver damage (that he knew of)? Total incompetence? Wait. What?
Anyway, he was in some big stony city now. Good thing he was hairy and fully clothed, because it was freezing up here.
Reg was fully capable of dressing himself, thank you very much. He was also about to discover that he now was capable of writing a passably intelligible letter! For who should be flopping about on the ground as he entered a huge hall than
Fleeg, his ChAoS brO?!
"Arrr, yeh made it, yeh shriveled up zucchini!" he growled with delight, clapping
Fleeg on the back as he stood up and causing the little goblin to spill onto the ground once more. "I can’ believe it! Lettin' Art teach me some readin' and writin' actually paid off! How about we go bug some guys?!" he cried, pumping his fists enthusiastically. Few things brought him greater joy - or rage, weirdly - than causing ChaOs with his best cHAos brO.
Before they could begin terrorizing the citizens of this frigid city,
Reg noticed a crowd gathering in the hall. "We could even bug
those guys!" he said brightly.

@corlisswyn - we can absolutely do that! And I almost called Khirra out in that last round but changed my mind at the last minute!
@skekSil - thanks for the deadline extension!
Soreya, Haradrim, back for more
Another day, another death. It seemed murderers were even more common in Angmar than the south. This Haradrim was not a quitter and having failed to identify the murderer before, there was no way she would miss out on another chance. Even if it cost her life. What life was worth living if you failed?
When she entered the hall, her eyes immediately scanned the competition. Or victims. Or murderers. Her brow quirked just the slightest bit - a few of them were strangely familiar. There seemed to be some interesting necromancy here in Angmar. That might warrant some further investigation if she survived. Or especially if she didn't. The goblins she eyed with distaste. Ugh did they ever stop multiplying and crawling everywhere?
Her expression was impassive as she leaned back against a wall and threw back her hood to expose a cascade of dark hair. This time she would succeed. "Let's try this again," she told Yarltang.
