Hi Everyone. I joined the OG Plaza back in the early 2000's. Probably somewhere around 2002 or 2003. I was really active for a year or two (maybe more) in Gondor. Especially as a Ranger. I think for a time, I was even Captain of the Hyandaner. Then, RL happened, and I slipped away with a few brief reappearances. I gotta say. This site looks a ton like the original. Honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing here because I have kids in way too many activities, a wife, and a job. All of these leave me no time to do something like RP on here. I just randomly googled the site today, and found it.

Hi, there @Lhun Elcharion! Welcome to the NUPlaza! Yes, it is pretty similar to the Old Plaza. I joined in 2003. Congrats on your achievements, job, wife and kiddies. This plaza runs at a much more relaxed pace. Gondor still has wonderful rps and RPers. Maybe we will see you from time to time.

Thanks all for the welcomes. I'll try to stop by to say hello from time to time at a minimum. By the way, I didn't initially mention when I said I had kids, but my daughter (I have a son and a daughter) is named Eowyn! So, while I drifted away from the Plaza, I didn't lose my love for LotR.

@Arnyn I saw your name, and immediately remembered you. Thanks for confirming that I was indeed Captain of the Hyandaner once upon a time. Simpler days for sure. Lol! It's great to reconnect though.

It is fine to pop in as you are able. I go through phases of being more and less active due to work and life commitments, so I get it. Still nice to say hello or join in a story every now and then.

Hello, just a newbie checking in. I was never super active on the old forums but found this place through google on a whim. I'm so happy to see people coming back together, there is a lot I miss about back then. Crazy how much time and life has passed. Glad to see the Tolkien fanatics are still out there!

Servy!!!! How have I gone this long without finding (a) this thread and (b) you. I remember the old days in Imladris and my Tuesday afternoons - tea parties in my little Forest Hut.
The truth is I suppose that I haven't really settled in in the way that was possible in the Old Plaza. A cosy sort of way that's true, but something to build on. The Library of Elrond gave me a ready-made identity and an association with Lore which eased me in. I only got here today in search of somewhere to apologise for not being on line much lately, or indeed generally since the Plaza came back. At the moment I am, I hope, recovering from a nasty two weeks of respiratory illness and feebleness resulting from that. Lore can and will still grow as the new Plaza grows, I devoutly hope. Good to find you again, mellon.

Hello all! I originally joined in 2004, and something made me look the place up again tonight. Amazing to see so many familiar names! 20 years have brought many changes to my life, but not to my enduring love of all things Tolkien. Maybe I can actually get back to writing again... It's good to be back.

I was a part of the plaza a loooong time ago, Probably around 2005-2006ish. Can't even remember my username to be honest, all I remember is I was a Lothlorien elf at first and then changed to a Hobbit. I wasn't that active and was terrible at roleplaying and socializing, but I enjoyed hanging around reading everything everyone posted, learned a lot and had fun in general just being mostly a spectator. I'm so happy this is a thing again, I'd love to participate more this time, thank you so much for bringing this back to life. See you all around, glad to be part of this beautiful community again. :)

I'm late to the party but so glad I made it back. I joined the Plaza in 2002 and spent so much time here! I was adopted by Quill, my sister was Starflower and I was a member of the Dunami family/clan. At one point, I didn't even know everyone I was related to, there were so many of us. I ran the Society of Faramir Fanciers which is still one of my proudest achievements in life. Anyways, I have missed all of you and hope I can find time to role play again. Peace!

Oh, gosh. I was talking with another former Plaza member and thought I’d do some searching to see what became of this place, and lo and behold! I see some names I remember in this thread, but it’s been a loooong time.

My name was Araweth, and I was an admin for the poetry and fanfiction forum sometime in the mid-aughts when I was of fifteen. It feels very odd, posting on here after twenty years, but how nice to see these familiar colors again!

Hello peoples of Arda, I was actually a member of this site a long time ago and remember the cool ranking system and halls of knowledge. I've read all the books The Hobbit, LOTR, Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and volumes of the History of Middle-Earth. Happy to return among such excellent and fine peoples as yourselves.

Well if this isn't a blast from the past. I haven't checked on the progress of the rebuild for an age but for some reason, my brain decided that today was the day. Some may remember me, some may not, who can say. I was real active back around 2006-2009(ish) with pretty much the same name. How many of the OG's are still kicking that I may remember?

I think I remember seeing you around, @Calimehtar90 , though not sure if we ever interacted.

@Pele Alarion I believe we did interact back in the day. Most likely at the Rangers Training Grounds if it would be anywhere. Also, not sure if you are UK based so potentially may have met you at one of the Oxford meet ups that we occasionally had way back when.

Welcome @Calimehtar90! I was around in the 2006-2009 names here and there. At that point I was going by the name "Lews" and split most of my time between Gondor and Mordor (in retrospect a fun juxtaposition). I seem to recall your name but I can't remember if we ever actually interacted.

I'm not really a newbie but I'm back!! My life has finally settled down some and I'll hopefully have the time to post more regularly now haha, it's nice to see all the familiar faces again!
