Watching Iole move to inspect the empty glasses, Trev was briefly confused when she asked if he'd been 'self-medicating'. When he realized, a short little laugh burst out. "Unless lemonade and water have pain-killing properties, no." He couldn't help being slightly amused by that, and slightly marveled that she would have thought that of him. But then, he remembered, he hadn't been around any of them in five years. "I wouldn't be drinking much else," He assured them, quietly tucking his flute into his belt to free both hands. "A party," He nearly scoffed, but instead, shook his head with a small smile. The 'party' had just abruptly ended when he apparently upset Nal, he thought sadly, and felt reluctant to admit to the girls what had happened.
At Nal's sudden reappearance, speaking cheerily and not looking upset after all, Trev blinked in slight surprise before relaxing, and breathed out slowly in relief. His smile returned, and he gave a small nod back to his friend. They were alright as far as he was concerned, although he still wondered if he ought to offer some apology for dropping that news on him. Later though, maybe when the girls weren't around. He would probably need to explain that a little better, too. Because that was also something Nal ought to know about, even if he might not want to know about it.
"Of course, we were having a party." He replied with slightly more confidence as he turned back to the girls, mentally moving the weighty topics to a figurative 'back burner'. "Nal insisted. Said something about you two baking a cake in honor of my return?" He grinned. "Kidding, of course, I don't expect anything of the sort..." He added a bit hastily, hopefully before they might begin to feel any obligation to fulfil this imaginary demand.
After rolling her eyes at Nal's Nazgul comment, Cali laughed. "I'm sure we can manage something, and we will definitely be celebrating this! But you ought to have some proper food, first. Have you eaten, actually?" She wondered, unsure if she might be merely assuming, based on his somewhat underweight appearance, especially seeing him next to Nal.
"Not for hours," He answered, a little hesitant to admit, but smiled as Iole took his hand as if she meant to drag him away right then.
"Well, then it's definitely time for supper!" Cali declared. And it was actually getting toward that time, by this point. She nodded emphatically in agreement with Iole concerning Trev staying with them. "Absolutely, we have plenty of room at the house," She was actually rather excited for Trev to see the place where they were living now.
Trev smiled, somewhat relieved to think he had escaped from the topic of his injuries.
"And then we can see about tending to your wounds, whatever they might be." Cali added, almost as if she had guessed what he was thinking. "Which you still haven't told us about," She added, raising an eyebrow.
So much for escaping that topic. Trev smiled faintly though at the obvious concern behind the inquiries. "It's no big deal, really." He shrugged. "Dev sent a couple of his men to the tavern where I was working, and they tried to drag me back to him. I resisted." He explained as simply as he could, then paused. "He claimed he didn't send them after me, but.. I don't believe anything he says." Not anymore. "But don't worry, the other two were far worse off by the time we parted ways," He assured them with a small grin. "I'll tell you all about it, later. Now that we're all together."
Cali nodded slowly, realizing that must be what Macardil had been implying. "So that's what he meant about some trouble in Harlond," She mentioned softly. She moved in to hug him more gently, careful of his side, which had caused the wince before. "I'm glad you're safe. And you're here, now."
"Me too." He smiled, squeezing her lightly before letting go. He hesitated, glancing around at the three of them. "I.. owe all of you an apology for one thing or another, I guess. I just... I..."
"We forgive you, Trev," Cali assured him, before he had a chance to finish. But then, she realized maybe he felt a need to get some things off his chest. "Let's go home, and you can talk and tell us whatever you feel you have to tell us, while we're getting supper ready. How's that?"
A relieved grin spread onto his face. "Sure." It had been a long day, and rather emotionally taxing. The brunch he'd had with Macardil at the inn seemed like ages ago.
"I happen to know an excellent bakery where we can pick up a cake, by the way," Cali mentioned half-teasingly, as she reached down to grab the sack of Trev's belongings, and held it out to him. "Because you're right, a cake does seem like a necessity, don't you agree?" She glanced at Iole and Nal at that, smiling as Trev grabbed his hat from where he'd hung it off the back of a chair near where he'd been sitting.
