I cannot in any conscience leave such Hippy drivel standing as a song suggested for the day. No! Maybe late, late so late it is morning. Meanwhile rum, sodomy & the lash.

And this is revival. Really, this is north London's white tribute to the Jamaican music of Prince Buster. Cultural fusion or appropriation? This was really the band of my school years.

In high school I was all about them, this album is a concept inspired by The Silmarillion (you can see Luthien dancing before Morgoth on the cover).

Dark Streets of London
I like to walk in the summer breeze
Down Dalling Road by the dead old trees
And drink with my friends in the Hammersmith Broadway
Dear dirty delightful, old drunken old days
Then the winter came down and I loved it so dearly
The pubs and the bookies, where you'd spend all your time
And the old men that were singing "When the Roses Bloom Again
And Turn Like the Leaves To a New Summertime"
Now the winter comes down, I can't stand the chill
That comes to the streets around Christmas time
I'm buggered to damnation and I haven't got a penny
To wander the dark streets of London
And every time that I look on the first day of summer
Takes me back to the place where they gave ECT
And the drugged up psychos with death in their eyes
And how all of this really means nothing to me
And now the winter comes down, I can't stand the chill
That comes to the streets around Christmas time
I'm buggered to damnation and I haven't got a penny

And now I apologize to everyone for spamming; but I have not been so taken aback since PolyStyrene of X-ray specs died some years ago. Last one for the man with the teeth that made Jerry Dammers of The Specials look good.
Boys from the County Hell
On the first day of March it was raining
It was raining worse than anything that I have ever seen
I drank ten pints of beer and I cursed all the people there
I wish that all this rain would stop falling down on me

@Drifa, I'm starting to fear the worst and am putting together a song list to help you remain strong in difficult times.
I hear the train a comin'; it's rollin' 'round the bend,
And I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when.
I'm stuck at Folsom Prison and time keeps draggin' on.
But that train keeps rollin' on down to San Antone.

Finally, after all these endless punk songs we arrive at the fusion I've been dreaming of for years. Here is to Volume II of Mushroom Art. This mashup is dedicated to all members of the plaza, but especially the anonymous Dwarf (who most likely will not like it at all).

Yay, that is an excellent song. Here is a song by Syd Barratt himself (the Pink Floyd song is about Syd, who lost his marbles - but you no doubt know that).

@Chrysophylax Dives thank you so much, first time I listen to it, and I love it already!

the early pink floyd were really something. then they became this self-indulgent rock band.
anyway, something totally different - a band from the Wirral (which, I think, Gawain passes through). i played this song to my children to convey a sense of what life was like when i was a child before computers existed. actually, it captures exactly our life in those days. but it was totally wasted on them, too far away from anything they know.

I am currently listening to a playlist I made, of songs that mean a lot to me in relation to my transition journey. The genres are eclectic and the vibes range from hopeful to sad to excited to mournful to groovy. It's quite random.

@Drifa Oh, thanks. But you're aware that that march is originally part of the Suite of the Planets by Gustav Holst, aren't you? It's the piece on Mars.

You lot listen to such good quality music, unlike myself. Here is a Woody Guthrie song, performed by Billy Bragg, and dedicated to that most wonderful of nearly rogue admins, @Arnyn.

I've got to do a shed load of work the next day or two. @Troelsfo and @Ephtariat and anyone else I am in the midst of a conversation with - I will be back in a day or so maximum.

While we wait for the security, I give you a band that were once upon a time South London's finest. The Boothill Foot Tappers - Get Your Feet Outta My Shoes
@Arnyn, as with the hollow tree song, this one is not meant for you personally. So no knives, please.

No, I didn't know that, @Ephtariat. Thanks for pointing it out.
I discovered two other groups who adapted it. Am I Evil by Diamond Head is a favorite of mine. Now I know where the drum March comes from, .
King Crimson The Devil's Triangle
Diamond Head Am I Evil
Time for something a little less heavy and progressive .
