Hi folks! I'm sure you don't have to imagine my shock - most of us probably experienced a similar turn of events - upon learning that the Plaza is up and running again! It went something like...

*Rings of Power trailer release causes immense nostalgia vacuum*

*runs a Google search for "lotrplaza"*

*jaw drops to floor as he realizes that the Plaza is in fact alive again*

*retrieves jaw from floor and proceeds to scan archives in the waybackmachine*

I won't lie to you, I had to do some real detective work to remember what my username was. It really has been that long! I found myself, you could say, in an old Basic Lore thread, and it all flooded back to me. My username has always been Fingolfin of Hithlum, though I was colloquially often referred to as Finny. I joined in 09 (apparently tomorrow is my 13th Plazaversary - oof) at the ripe young age of something-or-other. I was a regular in the lore sections, Rivendell RP's, and did my share of spamming the OoME.

It's wonderful to see so many names and have so many memories flood back. The Plaza really gave me a group of kindred souls when I needed one as an adolescent, and I rather unexpectedly learned a thing or two about short-form creative writing. I hope that RL has been treating you all well! It's great to be back!

I definitely remember you. You would've known me as Eldo, back before I changed my name. I signed up for the Plaza in 2007 but didn't start posting regularly until almost two years later, so we began our Plaza careers not that far apart from each other. Happy early Plazaversary! Weird to think it's been that long, yeah. Hope to see you around!

I've always been Lady of Shadow, except for a brief time when I thought of moving Naelia (my main character) to Mirkwood and changed it to Lady of Mirkwood, but moved back to Mordor within a day, since she would never be happy in the kingdom of her late mother (too many bad memories when she was forced to live with them for a time against her will). I registered on this new site as Talina (a newer character of mine, and one of my few lighter characters, though I changed her race when I got over Thorin, since she was originally a dwarf of Erebor, but is now a human survivor of Pelargir). I changed it to Lady Winchester for a time after a Supernatural character I created one Halloween (she's the daughter of Sam Winchester and Eileen Leahy and younger sister of Dean the second), but changed it back after this second Plaza came back after some kind of glitch. Welcome back anyhow!

Is this the thread to post general questions? Like about RP, Plaza, anything? I asked this question in another thread but I am really lost as to where we're supposed to ask questions like this:

Is there a general Plaza time period for RPs anymore? I thought that the old Plaza had a generic time period in which all posts were assumed to be set in, unless otherwise stated. I think it was Third Age after the destruction of the Ring.... or early Fourth Age? Not sure. But I'd like to know for now.... are we in the middle of a war? Peace time? Is King Aragorn ruling?

Of course you can ask here :) There is also an ooc thread in each kingdom as well.

As for your question well it depends on the Kingdom (and thread). Mordor is mostly prior to the War. Gondor is about 5 years after the war, same with Rohan I think. Most threads should either say where it is set (as some will be other ages) or you can deduce it from the description. If nothing is said, likely it is free RP, then you get to pick the date :)

I actually looked to see if I could find some of my poetry that I wrote here many moons ago and lo and behold I saw the site. I don't belong to any social media forums or threads and this was joy to see, I loved the madcap mental irreverent Istari and hitting the marble tiles and disappe.......

I never knew there was a Facebook group! I'm Anson Longbottom. I used to go by Baranduin and Anson Baranduin. I've always been a hobbit and was mayor of the show for a short time work Feiniel (hi there!) and, Tari Boffin. So excited to have found this magical place again! I was NOT a youngster, and never realized how young some of you were! I joined in 2001 maybe? And was 39. Now I'm 61 but glad to be back!
