This is much more detailed than anything I ever saw from you (and I have no idea what is going on. I am far too old to be able to read in those colours/ at that speed.) But having watched it a few times, I do not see how it can get worse from here

The second plaque is better because it has bonus words that aren't even in the frame. That would have been an extraordinary plaque to receive.

Omg. Is The Miracle Of Life an actual visualisation of the Narvulation machine via which Narg and I were to create your robot baby?!

- I have a question on plaque #2b. What do you imagine the meaning was of the spaces in the frame along the bottom for lettering, but not on the right hand side?
- Nice plaza colouring on plaque #2a.
- After many failed screenshot attempts, I decided to record my laptop screen to ensure I had understood the full message on listerine and spinning toothbrushes, thank you

- [NON NARV ART RELATED: is there a way of not have the line space between bullets?]

I stand by my comment, even after looking at Plaque 2b.
(There's a message about listerine and spinning toothbrushes? I am going to assume it's procreation-related and ignore it.)

Oh my. These all have something of an early 2000s homestarrunner.com quality to them, with a dash of Natalie Dee. *sips coffee with pinky out*

Here we see a window into the artist's process - where the eraser tool was used to fix lettering that was perhaps, we may speculate, a complete unreadable failure on the first attempt, necessitating a certain amount of compromise with respect to the integrity of the frame
- is there a way of not have the line space between bullets?
no
- These all have something of an early 2000s homestarrunner.com quality to them
an astute observation, given that my adolescence was one long regurgitation of early 2000s homestarrunner.com

But why is King Narv perpetually in a mouth-agape- expression? Is he screaming orders to his aptly-labeled henchmen? Or perhaps yodeling as a means of torture for all his disloyal subjects?

King Narv had many opinions and generally found that cane shaking and screaming into the distance was the most effective means of conveying them
I don't have a record of his odes, or much else of a musical nature. Except for this picture of a baboon:

Sink Drink Pose
2007
Commentary: apart from the regrettable pockets I actually like this
Re: narv pics 2003-2007
Posted: Tue Jun 23, 2020 2:29 pm
by Nia
I have a habbit of ignoring titles, so △VHZY is how I first read that and I was super proud of myself when I realised it was actually drink, but now I see you told me that all along. I do like straight lines, and the water from the tap is really on point with that.

I don't think I'd ever have noticed that said drink, so thanks for pointing that out, Nia. The water is funky, but the spiral is what pleases me most in this - excellent motor control.
The regrettable pockets: not bad. I find myself intrigued by the arm - no, the other one. The legs: of course, are fantastic. What a pose!

It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out how this says "drink" (even after Nia pointed out that it does not say "△VHZY"). Well done on getting me to stare at neon colors all morning

I like that the robot person has an incredibly long torso. I assume that's to make it easier to reach the drink. I also see you've followed the artistic rule of thirds, thus making it very pleasing to the eye. Nice.

@Narv do you remember the context in which you shared these, if at all, on the plaza? I have a disturbing feeling I have seen the one about birth in your original post before, but I couldn't say why or where I would have seen it...

These were all definitely created for and posted on the Plaza. Any context beyond the following is lost to me:
#1: As Sil says, it almost certainly relates to an agreement between herself and Narg[uzir] to create my child Narvi Jr, which was accomplished via the pictured machine.
#2a: Given to Miss Luthy (OG Plaza Yavanna and my OG Plaza mother). Evidence indicates the reason involved her outstanding literary achievements.
#2b: Given to someone else around the same time, probably someone jealous of Luthy's accomplishments.
#3: No idea, probably fan club or something.
#4: Definitely from when I left Mordor and joined the KD Drill team and decided to make an extremely high-effort first post to show my newfound KD pride and compensate for my utter lack of any Tolkien knowledge.
#5: I vaguely remember trying to prove to someone that baboons and bassoons were the same thing and this was presented as evidence in my favour. Again probably fan club but who knows
#6: I mean I feel this one is self-evident surely
#7: When you and I were on the same drill team and I (successfully? I forget) lobbied to have us named Team Hank
#7
Drill Banner (submitted)
circa 2006
Commentary: I do not remember if it was chosen
(Edit: or maybe it was word sleuth?
@Elarith any insight?)

The create date on the banner is December 2006, so it was probably 2007 before we actually started using it or doing drill stuff - and yes it was probably Junior Drill, I forgot that was a thing
#6 - i mean look at it

@Tarawen She probably can't, but she'll have a go ... please turn off your BS meter before you read.
The title is very important, Sink Drink Pose
In each case, one word in the title is used twice. You might have been thinking, 'he should have named this Pose Drink Sink' but this was just to whet your appetites.
Sink here is used both as a noun and a verb, and refers to both where the water in the tap is heading and to the person, who is sinking down into a lunge - very fitness oriented, this person. Note the coy little smile - he's loving it.
Drink refers to both the carton with the inscrutible label (well scrutinised by Nia) and the potential purpose of the water, if it doesn't get to the sink. In fact, the water is better for the athlete than the drink, which no doubt is filled with sugar, so this should be obvious. In fact the smile might relate to this ... a sugar-induced exercise high, or dopamine-drenched satisfaction from working out and having water? The viewer must engage with the art themselves to decide what the artist was saying.
Pose actually has multiple meanings, for the artist was very conscious of placement, size, order and the use of dead space, all to frame this showpiece in a fraction of time - we can see this in the sporadic yet orderly gush of water from the tap, as if a stop motion camera took a still ... pose. The person, posing like a boss, could no doubt lunge that way for hours at a time, although his smaller status shows us that this particular part of the triptych is of less importance than the carton, which has been put centre-stage for maximum product placement, despite the fact that it is the only thing which cannot move by itself.
Perhaps it is a reminder to us all that if we do not put things away (particularly those things which are unhealthy for us) they will clutter our lives.

*flips switch on BS met-* oh wait, it was already off
I very much appreciate the interpretation of the individual who is posing as both athlete and subject of potential life decluttering. Your analysis carries hints of a Marie Kondo influence, Ears, and I appreciate the call to action to eliminate unnecessary things - such as sugar - from our lives. Surely, sugar brings no joy.
I do wonder if the artist would care to illuminate a bit about the product placement; surely, this is a sign of being influenced by external forces that must - in some way - cheapen the pure art experience itself, much like the placement of Ford cars into 2006's Casino Royale
Anyway, thanks for the lovely chat, Ears. I wish I could visit a RL museum with you!

I had to remember halfway through following the swirl lines that that was a neck. I thought there was an arrow pointing down at his legs. I realize now it is arms, and apologize to Henry for my mistake.
I have many questions about how he sleeps, moves, etc. But at the forefront of my questions is this:
How does Henry keep his face from falling off into the Void?
Re: narv pics 2003-2007

- Was it his birthday?
Very possibly but that would be incidental. That's just his hat
- Everything Ears said
100% Correct, you are a connoisseur
- Product placement
I would never stoop to product placement in my posts and am more than a little hurt at the suggestion.
- Face falling off into the void
Spiralneck Henry has a lot going on. Thank goodness he can always rely on a trusty can of
3M™ Super 77™ Multipurpose Spray Adhesive to keep his face where it belongs: hovering between various parts of his neck. He tells me
he can't get enough of the stuff!

@Nia - I enjoy not only the Lines of Speed but also the look of astonishment or perhaps panic that Narv has captured here. Do you feel this is an accurate portrayal of your face in the event that you might ever be on a super-fast segway?

from my understanding the second portrait was indeed an accurate depiction of a real-life event, as recounted to me ex post facto. though it is unclear whether the mouth was open in astonishment, panic or simply in an effort to obtain more sweet sweet watered-down canadian beer
