He recreated the plaza (unofficially)
His name starts with N and ends with V
I've gotten really, really bad at riddles in the past 15ish years
Many months later edit, apparently we need some rules?
1) The first person to reply with the correct answer gets to ask the next riddle.
2) The riddle does not have to be Tolkien or Middle-earth related.
3) If the last riddle has been solved and no new riddle has been posted within 72 hours, then a new riddle may be asked by one of the other players.
Riddles in the Dark
uhhh.... Narg? no wait that ends in G..
Nav?
Nav?
I was going to guess Nav as well
Hmm, it sounds like you might need a clue. The name also has the letters R and A in it, but not necessarily in that order.
Narv?
Is it Noov?
Nrararararararararv?
Phew that was a difficult one, but Thorin's got it! ;) Your turn to give a riddle.
Oh man I am so happy to see Riddles back! This is great, reminds me of the good old days again.
Having major nostalgia right now as memories of RIddles come flooding back. Right, since its my turn, let's try this one:
With pointed fangs I sit and wait; with piercing force I crunch out fate; grabbing victims, proclaiming might; physically joining with a single bite. What am I?

A stapler?
Carcharoth?
The demon-hound of Angband who bit the hand of Beren which held the Silmaril. I'm struggling a little bit with the last part ("physically joining with a single bite") but I think it works, especially since it only took a single bite to rend Beren's hand from his body.

Lol I was stumped for a moment, but the only thing I can think of that joins things while biting down.. It was a good riddle!
The man who needs me, doesn't know it. The man who makes me, doesn't want me. The man who buys me, gives me to another.

A Coffin?
Got it! You're up, Oro.
Wow, I was right this may be the first time I was first one right in the Riddles thread. I was spitballing, I feel like Ive heard a similar riddle before so that helped a bit with solving it. Thanks Aduchil, Good Riddle!
A barrel of Khazad-Dum’s best ale weighs seventy pounds, what must you put in this barrel for it to weigh forty pounds?
A barrel of Khazad-Dum’s best ale weighs seventy pounds, what must you put in this barrel for it to weigh forty pounds?
A hole?
Uh...negative thirty pounds of ale?
Nothing. Just invite a group of thirsty dwarves.
A spigot to drain off 30 pounds of the ale.
Holes.
Assuming a perfectly cylindrical barrel, I would put a hole in its side exactly 3/7 of the way down.
Sorry! I was asleep, Fairy Nuff is the first correct. The answer is a Hole. I would have accepted thirst dwarves and a hole 3/7 down. Or even a spigot. But hole was the first correct.
Oooh, I've never got a riddle correct before, though I wish I'd thought of the thirsty dwarves answer! I am also not very good at making riddles, but I do have a couple of favourites from when I used to play riddle games as a child.
I can run but will never walk, have a mouth but will never talk, have a head but never weep, have a bed but never sleep. What am I?

Would that be a river?
Narv?
I think Dwim is right - a river.
@Dwim has it!
@Reikon Suchi-ru believe it or not, the answer to everything is not Narv...it is rumoured to be 42 in fact...

Starbreeze ~ Lily Knotwise ~ Itarildë Tinehtelë ~ Peachleaf ~ Isiliyan ~ Aelflaed Goldhawk ~ Dagnead
Thanks Fairy! I've made this one myself, and I have no idea if it's too easy or not. (The answer is probably not Narv.)
The older I am, the smaller I get.
I am silent but have a sharp tongue.
If I'm wrong, do not fret,
For what is said can be undone.

@Moriel, you got it! Your turn.
Whee :smiley8: Here's an LotR related one I just made up.
A hunter I was and hunt will I ever, or so it seems to be-
Not always in time, but always aright, aloft in a silver sea;
Outshining my elders I travel far, and vanquish my enemies.

I'm going to guess Earendil the Mariner, who took the Silmaril to Valinor then his ship was hallowed and placed into the sky for the Silmaril to shine (outside of time) and I believe there was a passage about him hunting the foul creatures of Morgoth in the sky.
Fangorn Forever
So close and yet so far! Incorrect!

Tilion, the Maia who guides the moon?

I actually feel like I'm off track somewhere but...
Tilion? As a hunter of Orome and with a connection to silver, and the moon certainly shines! As well as...
"But Tilion was wayward and uncertain in speed, and held not to his appointed path; and he sought to come near to Arien..."
"But Morgoth hated the new lights, and was for a while confounded by this unlooked-for stroke of the Valar. Then he assailed Tilion, sending spirits of shadow against him, and there was strife in Ilmen beneath the paths of the stars; but Tilion was victorious."
Of the Sun and Moon and the Hiding of Valinor
EDIT: simul! And it feels so good to use that word again I don't even care

You are both correct, but @Laintaen got there just a little faster! Well done, your turn!

I couldn't think of a riddle on my own, so I had to Google one. I liked this one.
A precious stone, as clear as diamond.
Seek it out while the sun's near the horizon.
Though you can walk on water with its power,
try to keep it, and it'll vanish in an hour.

Oh no now I have to try my hand at actual riddling skills. Pretty sure I haven't written an original one since 2012 at least! Here goes...
At first I keep my bearer warm
When removed, I fall to bits
Til time and skill shape me anew
A new bearer kept warm, if it fits

No, but a very interesting guess!

snow? An igloo?
No on both counts. Here's a clue: because I am very lazy when looking for inspiration, this is an item sitting in my living room.

No, but an entertaining guess and closer than any others so far!
