The Bestiary [People and Races Archive Thread]

I'm back for another archive dive over Thanksgiving break! You know the drill. Year by year, post by post, I go through the archives, checking for working links, which I will compile and summarize very briefly in this thread. I do this because the "archives" are terrible and while there's much good stuff hidden away still, it's overshadowed by mounds of non-working links.

So I'm separating the wheat from the chaff for you, making it easy for you to find threads that look fun, interesting, nostalgic, or cringe-filled to you now! Yay! This time it's the People and Races lore forum.
2002

The kraken, balrogs and other mysterious creatures -- A very early thread, Feb. 2002. PG as the Gladiator (I guess from Halloween 2003?) on display complaining about Ego Posters.
https://web.archive.org/web/20031104143 ... Position=1

Ellada and Elrohir -- A thread that was captured early enough to get some old icons including what has to be the earliest Varda icon, pretty O.O
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615154 ... Position=1

orc breeding -- Who doesn't want to know about breeding? Apparently Varda who wonders whether we must discuss this AGAIN. If only she could see the future.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615155 ... Position=1

how were the orcs made -- Uh yeah this is the same person from the previous thread. I guess if asking one way doesn't work, rephrase the question and try again?
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615152 ... Position=1

Gandalf and People of The Shire -- "This is dedicated to Gandalf White and The White Council also all the people of the Shire and there folk." Apparently an appreciation thread for Gandalf and the Shire was necessary?
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615154 ... Position=1

What race are you? -- I clicked on the quiz the poster linked and it loaded, so I took it. The results wouldn't load though. The suspense has killed me. @Nienna got hobbit though teehee
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615153 ... Position=1

Horses of Rohan -- "If say, a Gondorian stole two Rohir horses and bred them, would their offspring be as fine as its parents?" Nature or nurture y'all?
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615155 ... Position=1

Elves -- What a terrible title, since the question is about Galadriel specifically. :headshake:
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615154 ... Position=1

Arwen Confusion -- A surprising amount of replies for a question that only needs one, but hey, you can't fault their enthusiasm.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615155 ... Position=1

People Trivia! -- If there is lore, and there is a forum for it, Ducky's formula states that it will contain a trivia thread in a mean of three months, with a median....
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615154 ... Position=1

Bravery -- A question about the table-top wargame, which has a stat called bravery.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615153 ... Position=1

Eol mad or prideful? -- As if those were mutually exclusive options.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615154 ... Position=1

Dark elfs = orcs? -- There's like, at least four layers of confusion in this thread, and it gets worse as it goes.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020615154 ... Position=1

Sauron’s Plans -- As in like, ok you took over the world...now what?
https://web.archive.org/web/20020829024 ... Position=1

Elves and Dwarves in the East and South -- For some reason OP's font is all messed up.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020829030 ... Position=1

Origin of the Silent Watchers -- Bearamir gives a very interesting answer here, halfir enjoys it.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020829025 ... Position=1

What is your favourite Elf? (no one say Legolas) -- LMFAO ("bubblegum girl disclaimer") Also, @Princess Gia and @Aduchil are in this thread.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020829024 ... Position=1

ok i have a new game!!! -- You know it's gonna be a good game because look at all those exclamation points.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020829025 ... Position=1

Gollum/Smeagol -- Apparently people are just posting all the trivia they know about Gollum here?
https://web.archive.org/web/20020829024 ... Position=1

what do you like in middle earth -- "there is many things in middle earth. What do you like about it. Do you like the evil or the good. Or do you just like how it looks."
https://web.archive.org/web/20020829025 ... Position=1

Witch Rohan charachter? -- "You can also say Shadowfax if you want to." so much more permissive than the Elven thread.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020829030 ... Position=1

Who is your favorite man in gondor??? -- Same person that made the Gollum/Smeagol thread. If the 89 refers to their year of birth, they were roughly 13 at the time of posting. Aw.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020829024 ... Position=1

Character Trivia - Reborn -- "The other one was starting to take a while to load, so here is the new one"
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021015 ... Position=1

Aulë irresponsible, Yavanna wise -- This reads like a tabloid headline. I don't disagree though.
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021012 ... Position=1

How old? -- This person has to open the post with a smooch for Legolas before they can get to their question. The admins consider this spamming, and issue a warning. I feel it's worth restricting for reasons other than spam.
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021013 ... Position=1

favorite valar -- I'm getting the feeling this subforum existed for the primary purpose of keeping (most of) these sorts of threads away from even Basic Lore.
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021013 ... Position=1

The walking elm tree in the shire -- A source of endless curiosity, such a brilliant move by Tolkien to drop that in the story.
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021014 ... Position=1

Hurin -- The poster quotes from the Silmarillion, then proceeds to say "I find it highly unlikely that Hurin could have killed seventy trolls. I know that Morgoth ordered his capture, but seventy trolls is alot of trolls. Any other thoughts." LOL
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021011 ... Position=1

Who is your favourite character? -- I already answered this question on the new plaza, three internets if you know the answer!
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021020 ... Position=1

Where did orcs come from? -- O hey, this question. It must be a day that ends in Y.
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021012 ... Position=1

How were the Ents first brought into being? -- Christopher Lee, this is your cue. Say the line, say the line!
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021013 ... Position=1

Something new about somethings blue -- Pretty early halfir thread
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021015 ... Position=1

Back to Lotr -- "i went back and read Simarillion last night aswell as some of the more recent s**t that they have brought out (in angus & robertson)" Proceeds to rant almost incoherently...
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021014 ... Position=1

ultimate evil dude -- Man, 2002, just...what a time to have been alive and on internet forums. It pleases me to see Feanor as a response though.
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021014 ... Position=1

Population numbers? -- A sig with a gif!?
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021011 ... Position=1

Bilbo and the ring? -- In the middle of a decently long discussion comes this, out of nowhere: "Can anyone help me please. You see the problem is that i’m new. I don’t no what to do, so if you have nothing to do please help me. "
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021011 ... Position=1

Ents? -- "and I am talking rubbish" ending your post with that must have been a way to check to see if people were reading the post. Well, I read it, "nobody", Founder of The Black Channel, the E.F.O.M, Breeing Center and the MCC. I read it.
https://web.archive.org/web/20021021014 ... Position=1

Wow, 2002 eh? Quite a trip altogether. I recommend taking, but only in moderate doses.

Policy on Surveys & Games(Update 9-24-03) -- I may have linked this in the BL archive thread already, not sure. It's just a copy of the anti-survey policy that was enacted early 2003 after the nightmare of surveys that was 2002.
https://web.archive.org/web/20031004215 ... Position=1

https://web.archive.org/web/20030826104 ... Position=1

https://web.archive.org/web/20030826110 ... Position=1

Dwarves ever retake Khazad-dum -- It takes a long time for someone to bring in the proper answer with reference to the material, and not just guess wildly. Then the thread ends.
https://web.archive.org/web/20030826110 ... Position=1
