Dear Members,

We’re putting up our festive decorations!

For the next couple of weeks from Solstice Eve until the New Year, we have uploaded a selection of Tolkien characters, primarily from the Third Age, to encourage you to have fun, enjoy some canon roleplaying, and just generally wear something shiny. Much as with Hallowe’en, you will be able to go and switch your rank out for the character of your choice.

We’ve made all new icons for this: partly for additional fun, and partly to distinguish from our awarded ATRs and MotM. To keep it special for them, if you have a Special Rank on, you’ll get to keep it for an additional two weeks after the Decorations are over. We’re also having a look at how ATRs will work going forward so please give us your input here. ATR Poll

We’d love to see you trying out roleplay using these characters, so below is a list of threads we think you might enjoy (not requiring specific commitment or sign up - obviously RP wherever you like as there are much more out there)!

Nice, and I assume like Halloween, participating is optional? I'm not that good at playing canon characters (which is why I haven't signed up on a similar thread), I much prefer to stick with my own. This might give people something to do over the holidays if their family has opted to put off Christmas celebrations until this virus is over and done with (like with my family, so It'll only be me and my parents at my parents' place for a much smaller turkey dinner, and exchange of gifts. We'd thought that with a new baby in the family, we just don't want to risk it).

Yes! Optional, always! We will never force anyone to RP ;)

Next Christmas, we'll have a fully-suited Santa-Gandalf. Maybe.

Okay, I'm going to try playing as a Nazgul. Since my main character, Naelia, is more of a Black Numenorean, it shouldn't be too hard (aren't some of the Nine of the same race). If too tricky, I'll just switch over to Smeagol, since I know I can play as that character (unlike Halloween, I'm staying a villain for the Christmas season)!

Gosh but it feels a little like being on a Tv game show, where you can choose to keep one already fun opportunity, or choose to change up for a range of unknown choices. But those available choices are only known after you‘ve already chosen them !

Cassie, that is absolutely fine of course!
The choices will still be available for you to *view* by changing kingdoms/ranks, if you are curious: they just wouldn’t be visible as the ATR overrules them.
