Duinion smiled slightly. "Well, I know enough to know which herbs are safe to use in the wild, and which to stay away from. Which ones can be used for some things... such as white willow bark for pain." He shrugged. "Ironically.." He glanced at his foot. "This happened while I was in the mountains searching for herbs to bring to the houses of healing.. and you want to know the funny part about it? One of the plants on my list.. Arnica, is apparently useful for helping broken bones mend. I didn't even know that part at the time.. I thought it was only for bruises." He grinned slightly.
He merely shrugged at the suggestion that Aggie was only returning the favor. He wasn't sure that was the right way of putting it, but it didn't really seem important to correct the statement. Instead, he focused on what Arnyn said next, about trying to get a feel for who he is. He paused to think on that. Most of those he was close with had already known him long enough that it wasn't necessary to ask things, or else they were recruits who learned bits here and there as they worked with him.
He kept quiet, thinking on that, as she described the arrangements from a previous mission, and frowned slightly. He thought that might have occurred while he was in Rohan, in a more personal mission, but couldn't be sure of the timing. Not that it really mattered. Taking a sip of his tea, he debated the best way of answering that. Finally, he shook his head slightly. "I don't believe I could have endured that, so yes, I imagine that would have been a problem for me." He frowned. A fortress? Sleeping inside, with multiple people per room.. not likely. "Although," He added, slightly worried what the lieutenant might think about his ability to perform his duties, "I don't believe that should be any cause that would hinder me from participating in missions." He glanced at her, wondering if that would be some sort of problem. "I can't really say what I might have done in that particular case, but.. I'm usually quite good at problem solving," He offered a faint smile.
At the last part of her question, he returned his gaze down at the cup. "Yes, once," He agreed softly. He set the cup down carefully, thinking for a moment. "Some things which happened in my childhood have had..lingering effects, and I would rather not speak about those things. Idhrenel.. helped me to feel comfortable enough to sleep indoors, so long as she was with me. She.. helped me with many things." He paused before adding, "I sort of...fell apart for a while, when she died. There are still times I find myself picking up the pieces, as it were."
Glancing up, he nodded in the general direction of the house. "I think Aggie is coming..." He commented, fairly sure he'd heard a voice from near the house, but she was still out of sight.
Erynneth
Eryn shrugged at the question. "I really don't know that much about that stuff, but she did seem to know what she was doing." She answered. "I couldn't tell any difference, and I haven't heard anything about it from him... so I'm guessing it wasn't noticeable." She smiled. "I didn't know my uncle very well.. I was very young when he died. But he was nice, I remember that, and my dad says he was a very skilled smith."
She laughed as Buttercup nudged her hip with her nose, through the gap in the fence. "I don't have any treats, silly," She told the horse, grinning. "Maybe later." She grinned and turned back to Kaylin. "Well, I do hope they like me." She still didn't know Trev and Iole very well, but they had both seemed friendly enough.
She paused as Kaylin asked her if it was hard riding bareback. "Um.. it's not to me? But I don't really know if it's any different from using a saddle. I've never really had one to use. Except.. that one time, when I went rode off to the forest to look for my father.." She added, frowning thoughtfully. That had been only one time, a long time ago. "That's only because the horse already had a saddle on it though. I remember it felt kind of weird, not being able to feel the horse's sides very well, but that's about it." She suddenly looked around, realizing something. "Um. You've not seen Hattie have you? A big, friendly black dog?" She asked. She was nowhere in sight, and that usually meant she might be doing something she shouldn't.
"Aggie"
The moment she stepped out the door, Aggie was quite eagerly greeted by the farm's most energetic guest. "Hattie, down," She ordered, without success. Trying to balance a tray filled with lunch while fighting off a very excited, curious dog..was that even possible? "Hattie... stop it," She managed to barely avoid the tray getting tipped over, and then used one hand to hold it balanced on her shoulder to make sure it was well out of Hattie's reach. That done, she hurried onward, though she had to be careful not to trip over the dog as she continued to hold the tray out of her reach. Hattie, undeterred, trotted alongside the woman, tongue lolling out happily as she eagerly gazed up at whatever was on that tray. A couple of times, the dog leaped up into the air, trying to get a look, but Aggie swiftly moved the tray to the other side before she could accomplish any mischief.
After somehow navigating her way through the brief expanse of field from the house to Duinion's camp, Aggie might have normally called out to give some warning (in case he and his guest were speaking about some secretive ranger things), but with all the noise she'd made scolding Hattie, she thought it rather unnecessary. He'd know she was coming along with Hattie, by now. So she emerged into the clearing, with Hattie happily circling her as if she thought it was some sort of game to see if she could jump up and get what was on the tray. "I uh.. brought some lunch for you both," She was holding the tray above her head by now. "But Hattie won't leave me alone," She added with a laugh.
