The Hall of Barad-dûr: Mordor OOC II

Wow! Way to go @Ephtariat. To celebrate I post for you a special Undertowers Hobbit painting, in the minimalist style pioneered by Fairbairn the Fat. FYI, I counsel in writing what Fairbairn the Fat achieved in drawing.

Time to shift the music. Institutional insanity, once again. Amyl and the Sniffers. She does a lovely duet with the lead singer of Viagra Boys. But I'll give her solo dance, angels. She is a star.

Maybe we should establish a Mythlore chapter down here in Mordor?

I deleted both music posts. I get tired posting when nobody notices. We just got this note on the whatsapp.

יש קולות של ירי מצפון
ממש צרורות
מישהו יודע על זה משהו ?

Meanwhile, I read on the news that minister of health has called for action after a spate of violence against health workers in hospital. i used to read those headlines and think there was something wrong with a population that attacks nurses and doctors. i understand now.

This is a simpler way to do what you are aiming at, @Ephtariat. Roald Dahl's squares that look round. Confectionary version.

@Ephtariat, I've had enough of this waiting. It is exactly the same as too much of real life. I accept defeat by Mordor. Unless you have strenuous objection, I'm going to withdraw my charge on the ground that it is none of my business how long someone's posts are, not least given that I am not posting in Lore anyway.

@Hill Can I believe you? Because, you know, it does not happen every day to escape the Halls of Injustice so easily, I guess...

@Ephtariat, well if we patched it up here we could escape, no? I'm willing to accept that I was wrong, if that would help. I'd even call for you to add a postscript - a second post as follow up that offers a commentary on the first post, but is twice as long.

I've spent my entire day passing small talk on this thread. Nice it has been to chat to @Ephtariat, I'm getting itchy feet. As noted previously, I have no hope that this case is going to aid the Dwarf up in Lore. And I'm coming round to the view that readers get what they deserve, so Ephtariat's post is just plaza karma.

@Hill Have you seen the "Lebowski" film?
It's fundamentally an appraisal of an individual who is absolutely a failure but he has this strong point, that he always takes things as one gets them. One of the lines of the film is "sometimes you get to eat the bear, sometimes the bear gets to eat you".
I wonder if we should take an example from the character and accept long posts as they come.

@Ephtariat, I'll accept that. Can we call it a day? I want to start the week with a clean mind.

Dear Goose, it looks as if you are indeed recused. @Ephtariat and myself seem to have come to an out of court settlement. You can keep the huorn bribe (I hope they are all still flourishing and there have been no more of those nasty goblin scrums).

In retrospect, I should probably have taken the Dwarf to the Halls of Injustice. However, if I serve notice on the Dwarf three things will happen: (1) everyone else will throw things at me; (2) my internet connection will commit suicide, and (3) the Dwarf might be peeved. Because of (3) I have to let it go.

And this means, I fear, that to the day that I die I will never understand what happened with @Drifa's riddle. That is a hard thing to face up to. I could never let the riddle go, and in the end an answer appeared. But now the answer is a riddle to me.

Possibly there is a Nasrin Hodja story here.

I shall revel in my Huorn bribes whilst finding myself not having to dispense any sort of injustice whatsoever. Truly, this is the function of a dreadfully long and expensive court system: the complainants avoid litigation via an on the court step settlement; or, in the case of Drifa, refusing to even enter the country…

You know, it is not an entirely admirable quality being right all the time.

@Ephtariat, if you post your thesis down in the Shire (add 'Undertowers Thing' - before post title) it may get some more traction than it did in Lore. There is a sort of alternative Lore scene happening down in the Westmarch, quite spontaneously. Or there may be, if we can get an official Librarian position established (the admins are fighting us tooth and nail).

By the by, it is possible there may be some new action in the Halls of Injustice. Some of the Undertowers posse are up in arms about the working conditions of the plaza points Fairy. All a bit Hermoine Granger and the Elf Liberation Front, if you ask me. But I am their representative and we are at present preparing the paperwork, so let me know if you wish to be included in a legal or other capacity if we do bring this new case before the Mordor goblin secretary.

@Hill I posted my thesis in two paragraphs as you recommended. Then again, what happened to the post on Tolkien in Italy wherein I was tagged?

@Ephtariat. Here is a link. Because it is a paywall I copied and pasted, but discovered I had made such a mess I deleted. But it was not so interesting. The writer describes 'The Silmarillion' as a book that even die-hard Tolkien fans avoid!

Here is a quote (to make your blood boil - and mine too): "Tolkien’s stories also venerate tradition and hierarchy, values that are precious to conservative Catholics and neo-fascists alike. They are even arguably racist. His work reflects the prejudices of his time – by his own account, the gold-obsessed Dwarves were reminiscent of the Jews, and the evil Orcs a debased version of 'Mongol-types'."

@Hill Kinda makes me sympathize with the right wing. I mean, if they love Tolkien so much, they can't be that bad... xD
