HATCH AND MATCH!

You, yes you, noble denizen, heard of a cache of eggs in Fangorn Forest! No doubt these were stolen by some cruel poacher or enterprising creature, but now YOU have the job of returning them to their mothers!

Yes. Yes, that’s a flock of angry birds approaching. Hmm, bet you don’t want to be mobbed by them - you’d better find all the lost eggs and sort this issue out quickly!

Image

HOW TO PLAY

Select two squares on the area each round to search! Selecting a square will reveal one of the following:

* an egg
* a chick
* a parent bird
* Something miscellaneous, or nothing at all

16/04 Edited to clarify: The contents will be revealed in no set order, so you won’t know for certain which item is in which square you chose, but you have a 50/50 chance of being right!

If a square with an egg in is selected TWICE, the egg will hatch to reveal the chick! This will happen whether it’s within one round:

Example:
Frodo selects A2 x2! egg hatches to reveal a duckling!
Saruman selects G7 and H4 to reveal a parent duck!

Example 2:
Boromir selects J2 and A2! A duck egg is revealed
Saruman selects F5 and A2! The egg hatches to reveal a duckling!

The aim of the game is to match a parent bird to a baby duck:

Example 3:
Aragorn selects A2 and G7 to reveal a duckling and a parent duck! Aragorn has successfully matched!
Saruman selects H4 and A2 and has found a duckling!

RULES:
* No godmoding. You may godmode the birds and eggs but not to the extent they are found outside of the will of the GM
* All characters welcome. Multiple characters welcome. Canon Characters to be first come first served.
* Goose and duck friendly atmosphere, CW if you decide to eat any of the birds and/eggs. This especially goes for you Gollum
* You may post once per 24 hours or per update. No minimum character limit.

Participation will count towards SpringFest Championship!

Redling, a long-lost kirinki* scuttles through the foreign forest-brush, a brilliant scarlet speck among the leaf litter and moss. She is searching for something, the lost isle of Numenor, home of her kirinki-kin. Once upon a time, anyway. (She doesn't know it's gone forever).

Maybe d2 will lead the way?

you've been waiting with bated breath to know what 2nd square Redling peruses...it ain't easy being a mostly-extinct bird, you know.

There were eggs to be found and with them parents that would be quite tasty. Yes that was his thoughts on the matter as he crouched low and started wandering through the forest slinking along his white tipped tail the easiest thing to see as he shimmied along in his reddish coat was blending in well with the forest floor as he thoroughly checked the area.

Aragorn had used his egg money to fund the trip to Fangorn. Quite surprised to hear about this cache of eggs, the ranger figured it was best not to put all his eggs in one basket, and to explore different directions wherever possible!

Searching the ground, behind and under foliage, moss and what not - he must look like he was one egg short of a dozen. Yet, it didn't feel all that different from tracking. Besides, it wasn't like Aragorn wanted egg in his bear. He quite intended to work for what he earned!

A4 and D2, pleggy please!

Yes. A gosling. That would make a fine meal he snatched it up in his maw but not hard enough to hurt it. If it honked and cried out perhaps he'd be able to find it's parents and that would be a fine feast of course failing to realize goslings belonged to geese and geese were mean and would undoubtedly hurt him. Not that stopped him anyways.

With that he searched A1 and E5
(yes I am le fox, also I am not sure if I need to select A1 to continue to have the gosling selected to find it's parent but given the examples I'm assuming so)

Such cute little baby birds.. he would not readily have expected so much chirpy happiness in Fangorn, of all places... bit here they were. The budding father in Aragorn wanted to being the babies back to their parents. A new quest?

Well then the fox thought as he realized that he had not one but two bird for the moment. He realized this was dangerous he decided he needed to find something bigger than the babies those would make far better snacks With that he looked about a bit harder seeing if he could find any bigger birds to eat that would beat him senseless like a swan might.

Searching A2 and E3 please

Well the fox was not a big fan of starlings nasty things with the poop and all so he slunk along trying his best to avoid that particular bird as well as he could while continuing to search for more agreeable snacks. Hopefully he'd find the chick of the starling, those were tasty and less of a skyborn menace.

Ohh. The happiness. The pure joy. Seeing the bluebird chick and the bluebird parent reunited felt so good, Aragorn wanted to do more. Parents and babies should never be separated. They belonged together!

Such a pretty, shiny egg - and then, such a beautiful swan! Aragorn all of a sudden understood a bit better why Imrahil was such a fan of swans. Such beautiful creatures. He would try and reunite the gorgeous bird with its offspring.

Why, why, why is the bluebird so so BLUE? Redling stares at the very un-red bird. Is it sad? Is something is wrong with it? She nudges the bluebird with her beak to check and flutters away to continue searching.

'Kirinki-kin, kirinki-kin, where oh where are you?' she sings in her sweet little wren voice.

Oh good, the fox thought gleefully. It wasn't him that had found the adult swan. He'd wanted no part of that when he'd found the baby. Mean bloody things they were. Maybe if an adult was sick and dying he'd try for that as a meal but really all a swan meant to him was a good bloody thrashing. No part of it. Nope none whatso ever.

with that he happily kept nosing about looking to try to find something easier to eat....
