Mmmm Breakfast (Ick)
So soft and fluffy
Scrambled up for breakfast
Is that a bit of shell?
(I'll see if I can get a photo up in a day or two as well)

Hard shelf, different rooms,
stepping from door to door.
Eggs, Eggs, Eggs.
I see what is on the shelf,
But seek something hidden.
Eggs, Eggs, Eggs.
Looking here, looking there,
In every room of my own house.
Eggs, Eggs, Eggs.
Where iss it?
Open a door, shut the door, open another door.
Eggs, Eggs, Eggs.
I cannot even remember what it looks like.
A sliver of memory, my own golden treasure.
Eggs, Eggs, Eggs.
Who would guess it is already in my pocket?

O wither did the hen go?
The eggs have hatched
in the cozy cedar shavings;
little white and fluffy chirpy babies.
Down the run, the others
saw her come for the rooster
was in the farmyard crowing;
she couldn't resist his puffing and blowing.
With his red cocked cap and feathers
unfurling, the lady chicken was not
safe from a specimen so alluring;
so she raced to win his feelings.
The mother, hot and brooding,
now sits upon six eggs, stewing,
being the one who won the wooing;
while fowl is off again strutting and pursuing.

Chicken For Rent
The wind blew, the trees bent
The sign had read "Chicken For Rent"
"for rent?", whispered the gent
in a low, slow, foreign accent.
Through the door, and off the cement,
just inside of the shop he went.
There he found rows of shelves unbent,
Lining the walls, in a vast extent.
Down the rows, he did not relent,
as his feet did trot with an ascent.
Off came his hat, grasping its indent,
To the owner he tried to explain his intent.
"A chicken, your sign said you had for rent."
"Yes", the Shopman replied, "I do relent."
"Relent?", to the Shopman, said the gent in lament.
"To buy him from you, you will not prevent?"
The Shopman replied, "Only to an extent.
His price has gone up 'round thirty percent"
He saw no price there to misrepresent,
nor any other issues he needed to circumvent.
"There's one more thing", said he well-meant,
"He ain't got no Eggs." went the Shopmans augment.
"No Eggs?" muttered the gent, to this advent.
"What does he do?!" cried he with malcontent.
"'E's a chicken!", he replied to the gents discontent.
The gent asked "does he do something to supplement?"
The Shopman scratched his head, pondering his meant,
Switching tactics to disorient.
Wishing to salvage this sales event,
"Sometimes, in the dark, 'e glows iridescent."
To this the gent, he began to ferment
"Outrageous, preposterous, you misrepresent!"
The chicken, he bought, against his judgement.
Two shillings too much, he went and spent.
Back home, to live among his fowl and pheasant,
An unexpected chick, became his new, best present.

Thank you all for your entries! I enjoyed each and every one, @Fuin Elda, @Chrysophylax Dives, @Drifa, @Eruedraith and it was a hard choice to make but my favourite was Eruedraith’s as it made me laugh the most.
Please feel free to continue submitting egg related works, but the Second Prompt is: BUNNY

Crack, bang, snap.
Bugger.
Thud
Ohhh that's a good chunk.
The chocolate bunny is being massacred.

Little brown bunny with
eyes of yellow and blue,
that stare straight ahead;
tharn in the dining room's hue.
All sleek and smooth, he will
never hop or hiccup contently again
for he is hollow inside, this bunny
ain't alive; he sits sweetly
and pretends

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit bunnies. Love is not love
Which alters when it bunnies finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove (bunnies).
O no! it is an ever-fixed bunny
That looks on bunnies and is never shaken;
It is the bunny to every wand'ring bark,
Whose bunny's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Bunny's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending bunny's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief bunnies and weeks,
But bunnies it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me prov'd,
I never writ, nor no man ever lov'd.
(Obviously rip-off of Sonnet 116 by Shakespeare)

A Hunters Game
Hop Hoppity Hop Hop
Over the hill, and under
Ears up, eyes wide,
dare not to make a blunder
The hunters come, the hunters come,
They come for skin and meat.
Run, run, as fast as you can,
today your death you may cheat.
Under clear blue sky, open and wide,
across the rolling hills.
The hunters hunt, breathing hard and heavy,
meat and skin for thirst and chills.
The morning air was glowing,
with the shards of dawning light.
His heart was pounding, feet a racing
This catch made no easy fight.
Taken down, in one clean shot,
The hunters kneel to pray.
Thank you friend, for this feast,
and warmth to keep the cold at bay.

Lightly Does She Dance
Lightly
does she dance,
this season of joy
this season of growth
this season of green;
hap'ly
does she live,
this time of new warmth
this time of blue sky
this time of soft rain;
joyfully, gladly, lightly, hap'ly
does she flit through the pages
of Winter's book,
taunting and teasing,
singing and laughing,
dancing to the end, his very last chapter--
smiling, does she close him,
Springs forward to a brand new
book of her own.
