Your information is collected via two ways. Firstly, browsing “Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza” will cause the phpBB software to create a number of cookies, which are small text files that are downloaded on to your computer’s web browser temporary files. The first two cookies just contain a user identifier (hereinafter “user-id”) and an anonymous session identifier (hereinafter “session-id”), automatically assigned to you by the phpBB software. A third cookie will be created once you have browsed topics within “Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza” and is used to store which topics have been read. An optional "Remember Me" cookie can also be added when logging on - this cookie stores your username and will persist on your computer. You can choose whether or not you wish to enable it each time you log in.
The second way in which we collect your information is by what you submit to us. This can be, and is not limited to: posting as an anonymous user (hereinafter “anonymous posts”), registering on “Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza” (hereinafter “your account”) and posts submitted by you after registration and whilst logged in (hereinafter “your posts”).
Your account will at a minimum contain a uniquely identifiable name (hereinafter “your user name”), a personal password used for logging into your account (hereinafter “your password”) and a personal, valid email address (hereinafter “your email”). Your information for your account at “Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza” is protected by data-protection laws applicable in the country that hosts us. While date of birth is required at registration to ensure that we do not collect personally identifiable information from persons under 16 without parental consent, this information is not needed after registration is complete and is not stored anywhere. Any information beyond your user name, your password, and your email address stored by Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza during the registration process is optional. In all cases, you have the option of what information in your account is publicly displayed. Furthermore, within your account, you have the option to opt-in or opt-out of automatically generated emails.
Furthermore we will store the IP address that you use to post with. Depending on your preferences Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza may send you emails to the email address in your account, which will either be the one you used when you registered or one that you have subsequently added; however you are able to change these preferences from your User Control Panel (UCP) at any time should you wish to stop receiving them.
The personal details you provide during registration or add later will be used solely for the purposes of Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza board functionality. They will not be used for anything else and neither will they be passed on to any third party without your explicit consent. You can check, at any time, the personal details Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza is holding about you from the Profile section of your UCP.
The only other information about you is that which you decide to post in the fora, whereupon it is considered to be “publicly available” as it will have been indexed by search engines as well as on-line archive sites. If there is specific information you wish to have corrected or removed from our database, or if you wish to have your entire account removed, please contact the site administrators.
Your password is ciphered (a one-way hash) so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account at “Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza”, so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with “Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza”, phpBB or another 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the “I forgot my password” feature provided by the phpBB software. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your email, then the phpBB software will generate a new password to reclaim your account.
