3. What's your favourite kingdom rank? Oh I can't just pick one, but Rohan I, II, VI-VIII have always been favourites and all of Fangorn's. Um I like green! But also all the animated one are pretty cool!

First off, everyone would be able to teleport (with etiquette) so then even if you lived far away from the people you love you still get to see them. 1. What is one thing you are grateful for today? That my COVID-exposure quarantine is over tomorrow, provided I don't start running a fever in the next 24 hours or so. But I doubt I will at this point.

I want to be outside without hearing that constant hum, and be able to truly see the stars at night without light pollution. I also want to learn so many of the skills we've lost in modern times, with all the things we used to be able to do without electricity. So basically, any era between roughly... 500 BCE and the mid-1800s CE?

1. If you could compete in any Olympic event, what would it be and why? Short track speed skating has been my favorite Olympic sport since the first games I watched, Salt Lake City 2002. I took lessons for a while after that, though it's a lot harder to find speed skating lessons than figure skating, so I had to get up at like 5:00am so my mom could drive me an hour each way or something crazy like that. She was very dedicated when it came to that sort of thing. I haven't skated in any discipline in years, but short track is still a ton of fun to watch, in large part for how crazy it gets with wipeouts and disqualifications (see below).
2. Let's say I am paying a professional artist to create a work of art for you in a day. What do you commission from them? I suppose a drawing. I have very little room to display art, but in relative terms I have more wall space than anything else.

This resulted in a really wild finish in the women's 3000 metres relay at PyeongChang 2018. Eight teams made it to the semifinals; four in each race. The top two teams from each semifinal advanced to the final, while the others competed in the "B Final" to see who would be ranked in fifth to eighth place in the official results. The B Final, which is basically meaningless, was won by the Netherlands, who set a world record for the 3000m relay event. In the main final, both the Chinese and Canadian teams were disqualified for impeding. The gold medal went to South Korea, who crossed the finish line first--as one would expect--but silver went to Italy, who crossed the finish line third. Bronze went to the Netherlands, who didn't even race in the final but remained the world record holders.
However, this is not even close to being the craziest finish in Olympic short track history. That has to be Steven Bradbury winning Australia's first ever winter Olympic gold in the men's 1000 metres final in 2002. 1. If you could compete in any Olympic event, what would it be and why? Curling. It would take a lot of skill and practice to do it well on the olympic level, but curling will always have a place in my heart. Many a nights if I had trouble falling asleep, find olympic curling and I would be dozing off within 15 minutes.
2. Let's say I am paying a professional artist to create a work of art for you in a day. What do you commission from them? Something simple, like maybe the favorite picture with my dog. He loves the snow 1000x more than I do. I'd want them to paint a different background though. Like put a Middle-earth setting in the background. The fall is very colorful for about 2 weeks, then it just gets grey and bleak.
3. Teach me something about something you are interested in! I cook better than I cook, if you know what I mean. The thing I'm most proud of is cooking the Thanksgiving turkey. Guaranteed turkey will never be dry and ruined again. You probably won't even need gravy for it.
The main thing is you can't cook the stuffing inside the turkey. the juices all get soaked up in the stuffing, which makes the stuffing soggy and dries out the turkey. Season however you normally would for taste, but the key is in the cooking.
Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.
Coat the turkey with olive oil. Set on lowest rack and cook for 30 minutes. Cooking for a short time at a higher temperature will seal the outside/skin will turn out nice and crispy brown and it will keep all the juices inside.
Lower temperature to 350 degrees F and cook until internal temperature is 165. Usually this is 2-2.5 hours for your average 14-16 lb turkey

Well technically yes, however it is often 100+ year old trash. She kept pulling these clay pipes out of the mud and I wanted to try too as the Thames is "only" 2 hours away. So on the Thames there are 2 low tides a day and on those low tides you can get down on the foreshore and find loads of old stuff, mostly victorian pottery and pipes, but you do get stuff that goes all the way back to roman times and if you are real lucky you will even find older stuff like worked flint for arrows and knives. A portrait of my mum and my grandma - my mum has recently diagnosed with dementia and it's breaking my grandma's heart, I'd like her to have the portrait to remember my mum in her better days, especially as my mum refuses to be in photos.

Corydoras are a great and interesting beginner fish which can continue to be rewarding even for an experienced fish keeper. They prefer to live in groups of at least 6, but the more you have the more of their interesting behaviour you will see. They prefer temperatures of around 26 degrees celsius and soft water, similar to their natural south American habitat, but as most are captive bred these days they are very tolerant of a wider range of conditions, especially if you buy from a local breeder that uses similar water to your own. They are a commonly available, peaceful community fish suitable for a medium to large tank.
They are bottom feeders by nature, and will forage for food amongst the sand or gravel, but should not survive entirely on scraps from other fish - they are omnivores and will eat algae wafers, sinking pellets and fresh and freeze dried live food, especially bloodworm. They are also rather clever when it comes to finding food, and will even swim to the surface to grab their favourites before the other fish. One of their most endearing behaviours is when they search for food as a group, noses in the gravel and tails wiggling in the air.
Given the right conditions, corydoras will freely breed in a home tank. Feeding high protein foods and lowering the water temperature slightly (to mimic the spring glacier melt) will prompt a dance, where males will dance around the females, until forming a T shape to fertilise her eggs. She will then clean the tank glass and push her eggs against the glass where they will stick. If left in place without cover, chances are they will come along later and eat them. However, if suitability hidden, or gently removed and put in a separate tank with light flow of water, after about 10 days the eggs will hatch and tiny baby corydoras will emerge. They will need to stay hidden for the first few weeks until they are too big to accidentally get eaten, and check your filters as sometimes they swim in but can't get out. When young they will need tiny pieces of flake or pellet, and it is certainly easier to ensure they get enough if they are separate from the adults who will eat everything if given the chance. They will move on to the same food as the adults after a while.

1. If you could compete in any Olympic event, what would it be and why? it's a toss up between making the Men's US Basketball Team (I played in high school) and something with lots of running, probably basketball

1. If you could compete in any Olympic event, what would it be and why? I have given this serious thought in the past and it would be biathlon but with bow & arrow instead of a gun. This is my dream. Before you ask, no, I am not any good a either X-country skiing or archery.

Uhhh...positive reinforcement training is the most effective and ethical way to train animals. It involves rewarding them for doing what you want (yay, the dog peed outside), as opposed to punishing them for what you don't want (oh no, the dog peed on the rug). For more complex behaviors, trainers use shaping, which is rewarding behaviors that are closer and closer to what you want (the dog took two steps out, now three, now four). Very complex behaviors can be shaped this way. And literally any animal is trainable. There's a popular story in the zoo world about a behaviorist who successfully trained butterflies to fly from one place to another.

Oh my gosh, I loved reading all of these responses so much! The Plaza is full of awesome folks who know so much about so much

@Eldy Dunami - I can't NOT comment on your short-track answer - I was ENAMORED of Apolo Anton Ohno in the 2002 Olympics and remember that race vividly, though the commentary I heard on tv was very different So cool you got to take lessons; I'm jealous!

What one thing from the Old Plaza would you like to see here, that hasn't been done yet? I want tables, so we can have neatly organised OP's and lists and things. Not sure if this is easy or difficult to implement though.
What one thing about NuPlaza would you change, and why? I wish I could find some way to contact some of my old friends who aren't here yet, who I've lost contact with, and let them know we're back and refreshed.

I do miss the RPG forum a bit, but also we're a small group and I don't want to spread us out more. That said, running and popping into RPGs from various fandoms was really fun.

Why the heck are you targeting Mushu and not helping him? My primary candidate was Scar and he was eliminated for reasons I didn't understand. I at least thought he should have gotten past Simba, and I would have probably been content. Now my goal is to keep Shere Khan afloat (even though that will be a lost cause). But while keeping him afloat, to keep the rest relatively balanced as possible, until I decide who to support from there (after Shere Khan's demise).
I realize this strategy is probably making me quite a few enemies and infinitely prolonging things. Maybe we'll have a winner before 2021?
