Odd One Out - Game

And of old it was not darksome, but full of light and splendour, as is still remembered in our songs.

I pick Ulmo - he's the only picture with a beard!

Clearly the correct answer is Yavanna. The others might have spears and armor and horses and whatnot, but she is the only one with... a pitcher.

All great answers! I was thinking of Manwë because he was closest to Eru and because, in my mind anyway, he had a much less active role than the others in shaping tangible things or events in The Silmarillion (aka he doesn't really do much  ).

I loved @Dwim's reasoning for Ulmo, so you're up next!

Thanks @Zôrzimril ! I thought @Androthelm might win that one for his keen spotting of the pitcher!

Okay, here's our new round:

I see you have removed 'Doesn't have a rhyming name' as an option ...

Only Balin has a naughty twinkle in his eye. (Fili's clearly in training to be someone's wicked uncle though!)

Hey Dwim! Good to see you!

I think Kili is very odd. A beardless dwarf. How unnatural. Tsk, tsk..

Balin for sure, because he's the only one without a moustache. Rocking it Abraham Lincoln style! No doubt it's so he doesn't get mistaken for Santa Claus

I vote for Oin because he's the only one who doesn't appear to have a foreign object stuck in/placed near his beard

Hi Drifa! Great to see you too.

The answer I had in mind was that Gloin was the only one to attend the Council of Elrond.

I'm going to give the next round to Gwai, because I never really paid any attention to the fact that Balin doesn't have a moustache!

Because I forgot to mention @Gwai, and because mentions don't work in an edit, I'm doing it now.

Who is a Figwit? I am going with Quickbeam as the odd one out because there are 3 men, one elf and a Figwit, who I assume is an elf, and one Ent.

The answer in my head was Figwit, because everybody else did stuff, and he did basically nothing (even Butterbur did more than Figwit!). @Zôrzimril you’re up with the closest!

Angband. The first one, where Morgoth sulked his way through an Age. Teenagers, honestly.

I will say Tol-in-Gaurhoth is odd one out. All the others are either, fortresses, towers, lairs or citadels. Tol-in-Gaurhoth (the fair isle of Tol Sirion) is the actual name of the island, not the stronghold. Now there was a stronghold on this island but it was built by Finrod, not an evil dude, and this fortress was called Minas Tirith,.

I choose Carn Dum. Each of the other fortresses were destroyed / torn apart / foundations ruined etc etc when their defenders were destroyed. Carn Dum was attacked and left abandoned...

...but never brought to ruin...

@Androthelm chose the location I was thinking of! Great reason - I also was thinking that it was the only one not held by an Ainu. You're up, Andro!

I really like this theme, Androthelm!

I'm going to pick the Tower of Ecthelion as the only one that became home to a member of the Fellowship.

I am going to say the Endless Stair, too. My reason for choosing it as odd tower out is, it is not a tower, it is a stair. It leads to Durin's Tower, which is, a tower.

The Tower of Ecthelion is (I think) the only tower named after a person rather than a quality the towers possess, so that's my choice.

Yeah I think we should move on too. Androthelm is busy away from the Plaza at the moment.

So how about we call it an open floor!

Whoops, but I am finally back! I didn't realize how many things I was involved in when I got stressed and went away for a bit. @Drifa takes it with the "what is the tower" angle. Although points to @KingODuckingham as well -- I hadn't thought about the names!

My vote is on The Forsaken Inn! If memory serves me (and the name of the inn helps me) it's the only one that's not working aka it's abandoned.

The Ivy Bush is the only one with a name that could realistically double as a person's name in real life (I think).

Man, this is a tough choice, I feel like there are a lot of options even with just the four blades.

I think perhaps Sting is the odd one out because it's the only one whose name is both a noun AND a verb.

Herugrim is my choice because it's the only one I don't know anything about - whether that's poor memory or just ignorance!!

Herugrim would have been my choice too - it is the only sword that was not forged in the First Age that we know of - but seeing that Lirimaer chose it I will go with my second choice, Andúril. It is the only sword created from the shards of another sword, that we know of, Narsil.

It's been a week, so if I got this correctly I'm supposed to pass the photo editing baton to someone right?

All of you had interesting choices, some of them that I didn't even think of when I was making this, but I pass the photo editing baton to @Wamba_the_Fool for noticing the glaring typo that I missed  The floor is yours!

Eala!

Okay, well, if y'all are amenable to a non-photo version, I'll list it below. If that's not copacetic, then I shall release any claim and it shall be an open floor!
