Hey all, so I think this certainly is of interest here. Not quite sure of the best place to put it, but figured Lore was the best for now.

From a friend on Facebook (yes, I personally know someone in this video). “Here's a nice little film about our effort to buy Tolkien's house in Oxford and open it as a study centre, a haven for fans, and a kind of mini-rivendell.”

The Tolkien house in Oxford is up for sale and there currently is an attempt led by Tolkien scholars/fans/actors to buy the house and to make it a place for us. This is likely a once in a life-time opportunity for the house our beloved Middle Earth came to be in to become a place of pilgrimage.

Oh that's wonderful @Dimcairien Luiniel. I hope they're able to go through with the project, I would have to add it to a must-see trip. And Sir Derek Jacobi is involved! He was always on my "dream cast" list of actors I wanted to see in LOTR/Hobbit adaptations.

It wouldn’t be open to the public, if they managed to do this.

It’s on a residential road, so they wouldn’t get the permission. Instead, it would be a “bookable retreat”, and likely out of most people’s price ranges.

It sounds like there would be online events that would be an easier possibility to attend. Even if that’s not a possibility, simply knowing that a Tolkien centre exists would be wonderful.
