Would you like a subforum dedicated entirely to quotes?
You can discuss the pro's versus cons on whether it is worth it to have a subforum. Like have more space, not be drowning lore in threads or cons like no one will see it and so on!
Please vote, even if you aren't a frequent poster or you haven't posted in the Quotebank, everyone's vote matters <3 Vote is open for 5 days.
ALL PLEASE! Quotebank poll!
So the quotes in question are our nulibrary which is a data base of quotes. We currently have a fair amount of quotes for the hobbit.
We also have a thread for LOTR quotes as we are getting to many quotes. Eventually we will also have threads for the silmarillion, coh, ut, and home.
We've also had some suggestions for activities to get more quotes as well as possible activities to be held which would add even more threads for the nulibrary in the lore thread (one of these ideas is thanks to Sil) and I am hoping to not completely inundate the lore forum directly with upwards of 5 or 6 threads all based around the same sort of thing. My thought was subforum..
However its own forum space entirely is also 100%okay with me as.well

Just want to make it clear, this vote is for a subforum and not a forum. Creating a forum is a lot of work and not on the table atm. If enough vote yes, we can easily do a subforum though.
Fuin’s laid out the pros pretty well there. The cons in my head are that, once separated, it won’t get as much traffic from people just dropping into lore and then spotting the threads and having a peek. Activity in one forum thread ups the activity of the forum in general Imo. Admin hat is off, just my 0.02c and i can see the case for either subforuming or leaving as is.

Could there be a subforum to keep most of the threads so they don't eat up the entire space, but still maintain a main library thread in the main forum that is periodically updated with fresh link, etc.?
That would certainly work Dim! Like a monthly/whatever activity for the quote bank in the main lore forum
I think the subforum sounds like the best option that's available. I can see how the Quotebank wouldn't have as much foot traffic, but The Hobbit quotebank is already large and that's only scratching the surface of the project's end vision.
If it stays in the main Lore forum I would think in order to get the foot traffic all the different quotebanks would have to be pinned to stay at the top of the page. Having too many pinned threads would I think effect the user-friendliness of the lore forum.
Is it possible to have a separate link to a Library page and to create a separate page like the Knowledge Halls, Archives...etc is? Or like a new forum is that not an option currently?

A Loquacious Loreman.
he/him

Tis the season of Sean Bean prequel shows
That is the eventual goal but subforum is probably the safest starting point is the subforum we're not to a page format yet like the old plaza library
Just dropping by from Discord, but I like @Dimcairien Luiniel's idea. It seems like, as a reference source, the Quote Bank will be easiest to use if threads can be made for organization without having to worry about making *too many* threads. Also it'll make more sense if it's not scattered between other Lore threads.
I do think it would lose some coincidental traffic, but some of those hinted at activities might mitigate that. *g*

Subforum is what we can offer atm (if people want it) and should be sufficiant as it will be as big as the forum itself and you can have as many threads as you want. A whole forum wouldnt offer anything different to a subforum other than the location. You will have the same issues with pinned posts there as in a subforum.Boromir88 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 3:03 am I think the subforum sounds like the best option that's available. @Narv is the one to ask about pages and anything HTML as we need to keep the integrity of the coding to him and admins.
Having a main thread in Lore to direct people and occasional activities might be the best way to direct people there.
Making a new HTML page is certainly a doable thing. The issue there would be that admins are the only people who could maintain such a page, so if the quote bank is meant to be a kind of continually growing collaboration sort of thing, that might make it harder for people to contribute.
I very much like Dim's idea of subforum + a single pinned(?) thread in Lore.
Overwhelming vote for yes!
Will make it later today @Fuin Elda can you please list the threads you want moved and which are staying, in here please!

Fantastic thanks Windy!
The Threads to go are all of them but for a bunch of quick links:
https://lotrfanaticsplaza.com/forum/vie ... ?f=3&t=608 (OOC)
https://lotrfanaticsplaza.com/forum/vie ... ?f=3&t=605 (PRimary Thread/HObbit Quote bank)
https://lotrfanaticsplaza.com/forum/vie ... ?f=3&t=625 9 (LOTR Quotebank)
I'll be creating a new thread for the Lore section
