I'm assuming everyone (or very nearly) remembers, or has vague recollections of the old Plaza's IK Poetry Competitions. They were a ton of fun back then and with the nostalgia overload that the last few days have been for me, I was wondering if anyone else would like to see it, or something like it, resurrected and tried out. I don't have any big proposal on design and function, this is more a "is this a good idea" kind of thing. If it looks like people might actually want to do something like this then we can move forward and start looking at how in the bloody heck we could pull it off and what it would mean. I've set up a poll over in Mordor that can also act as a sounding board for thoughts, ideas, and memories.

I was just thinking about the old Lord of the Rings poetry contests! I'd love to see them (or something like them) back here! Maybe someone can pick a topic for the poem (and be the judge), then after a week, whichever poet wins, it's their turn to pick the topic (and be the juudge). Or something like that?

@SidraLockel Eltoran That makes the most sense for right now. We don't have a ton of people yet and the kingdoms themselves are a little unbalanced in terms of members so a free for all to start would be best. By Friday I'll try to come up with a theme and a format for everyone to go crazy with over the weekend. I'll judge this time around, it was my idea after all, and let everyone else have fun.

I'm a big fan of all IK competitions, so I'm all for having them come back. Way back in the day I ran Debate for a while and I love doing things like creating brackets and scoring systems...so if you need any help with setting up a format or scoring system, feel free to drop me a line. With me being older, IK poetry would be something I would like to tackle. When I was younger, my mind wasn't as mature or as flexible, and I struggled with some of the themes. Now that I am older, I am pretty much rhyme about anything.
