Rare is it that the heart of elvendom in Middle-earth opens itself to those of other races so utterly and yet today the grand mallorn trees that tower over the oddly serene race course bare the banners of all the various kingdoms of Middle earth. Several mallorns have platforms above them for the owners of the various racers and spectators.

There were many great rows of crates, each row a different size, and flagged with different colours, with the names of the kingdom over them. There was quite a ruckus in a few of them as some of the animals knew it was time to race and they were quite excited, others were lazy lumps and fast asleep. All of the crates held animals that any person might use to race for that particular kingdom should they not have their own.

Imladris crates hold hedgehogs and are posted under the colour #408080 (Teal)

Lothlorien crates hold foxes and are posted under the colour #00BFFF (Light Blue)

Khazad Dum crates hold badgers and are posted under the colour #FF40FF (Bright Foo Pink)

Gondor crates hold skunks and are posted under the colour BLACK (No colour code required)

Rohan crates hold raccoons and are posted under the colour #00BF00 (Light Green)

Shire crates hold coneys and are posted under the colour #800080 (Purple)

Fangorn crates hold squirrels and are posted under the colour #008000 (Green)

Isengard crates hold rats (of ususal size) and are posted under the colour #0040FF (Royal Blue)

Mordor crates hold snakes and are posted under the colour #800000 (Dark Red)

A strange voice that seems to pervade its way into your mind, like the Lady of Light is announcing things directly in every persons minds.

Drifa stood by Dragon's crate, a prison the well behaved badger (except when turkey legs were involved) did not enjoy being in one bit. But she ignored the creatures whining to take in the spectacular trees. So beautiful! Most dwarves were into stone, digging and ale. But she was a different kind of dwarf. She loved nature and all it's elements - fire, water, earth and air.

Taking a deep breath of the clean scented air, she let the badger out of his crate. His tutu was clean and crisp, ready for the race. And so was she. She wondered who would be joining her this round.

A and B roll please

And our first racer is off and running in a magnificent display of tulle.

@Drifa with Dragon the Badger (1 A Roll, 1 B Roll - 4, 4) -2, +1 After getting his little bit of annoyance at being in a crate out of him Dragon finds some flowers near by and goes of to smell them does he manage to convince an elf to make him a little flower crown? (OOC: I knew I forgot to change something in the OP! Thanks for the heads up that is now fixed. And thanks I've made an entire batch of Heraldry inspired animal crests so I'm glad that someone else likes them aside from me!)

Naelia with Asmodeus

Even though Asmodeus was way behind during the last race, Naelia decided to give him another chance. Luckily, the crates for Mordor weren't sabotaged this round (perhaps because the Halfling that caused the disturbance wasn't competing in this race, due to the fact that he won the last one, which was fine with the minioness), it was easy to get Asmodeus out and heading to the starting point. It seemed that this particular race was being held in an Elven kingdom, and even though Naelia often complained about the brightness of the kingdom being hard on her eyes (luckily, she brought her hooded cape with her, so she could always put the hood up if she found the brightness to be too much of a nuisance, much like that half-sister of hers who shall remain nameless whilst the minioness was busy elsewhere), she would have to put up with it for the time being until Asmodeus headed towards the finish line.

Though the only Lava Snake to survive an IK Race was glad that the crate he was in wasn't sabotaged, he had to make sure he wasn't as easily distracted as he was during the first race (which he finished in last place, regardless of the fact that he accused a resident of that kingdom of something he was not, but got even in the end when the dwarf tried to lead him in the wrong direction). As he slithered towards the starting point, he noticed that this particular kingdom was brighter than the last one, so that he would have to stick to spots on the racecourse that offered a bit of shade, since he much preferred the kingdom of the dwarves, since it was darker, much like his native homeland of Angmar, where he was acquired.

Let's start off with an A and B roll. please

She had been so busy admiring the trees (Dragon was on his best behavior and had allowed an elf child to place a flower wreath upon his head), that the two of them had completely forgotten that there was a race taking place!
And so , hiking up her skort and the Badgers tutu, she straightened his wreath, fed him a worm and got them back on the race track.

A roll please

We are pleased to announce I now have uninterrupted internet for the next two weeks at a decent speed and there was much rejoicing from the mallorn tree tops.

@Lady Winchester with Asmodeus the Snake (1 A Roll, 1 B roll - 5, 9) +5, +1 Your snake racer seems to rather like the leaf litter on the floor of the forest, is there a particular reason for this?

@Drifa with Dragon the badger (1 A roll - 4) -2

Time seem to have no meaning in this land. Again, she found herself distracted. This time she was lying on the green grass looking up through the branches of a great tree at the blue sky, and the white clouds floating by. Dragon lay with his head on her knee, snoring contently. Why were they so content? But more importantly, why were they here? Suddenly she remembered the race. Reluctantly averting her gaze away from the vivid blue sky, she nudged the badger and got to her feet. The sleepy creature looked around lazily but did get to his feet too.
"Come Dragon! she said. "We have to race!"

It appears that the badger is happier to go have a nap than race so far! We have only a little time left in the race so we will have to se what happens.

Moving along the race track that ran below the golden Mellyrn, Drifa felt the quiet tranquility of this land and wondered what would happen if she suddenly broke into a sweat, or Dragon started digging in the pristine turf for worms? It was a race after all and she still enjoyed running behind the badger at such events which of coursed caused sweating. And yes, she had worms for her racer, but one couldn't help imagining the size of the earthworms that grew in such fertile soil in this land.
As she jogged along behind Dragon, she pondered. Maybe there were earthworms as big as that Lave Snake (Asmodeus) that was ahead of them.

While Drifa stopped to admire a flower she had never seen before, Dragon took advantage and snuck off without her knowing. He wasn't really interested in flowers like his trainer was. He would rather dig in some rich soil and find some fat worms. He hadn't gone far when he discovered that he was unsure of what direction he had come from. His scent had been blown away in the gentle breeze that seem to always blow in this land. The Dwarf was one of the kindest trainers he ever had. He did not want to disappoint her. So he decided on one direction and began galloping that-a-way.
He hadn't gone far when he came upon some plants in his path. And being, of course, not interested in plants he ran through them causing them to bend and break. He suddenly heard the cries of elves calling for him to halt. But he just kept running, damaging the flowers that bobbed on the edge of their stems. More cries from the elves, but on he went. He soon saw the dwarf. He run up and butted her on the leg, then began to gallop quickly down the race track.
Drifa had heard the voices of the elves raised in alarm. As she watched the galloping badger race down the track, she put two and two together and knew he had been up to some mischief. Not wanting to have to deal with angry elves, she took off after her racer. If they got far enough ahead they wouldn't have to deal with them, she hoped.

@Drifa with Dragon the badger (1 A roll, 1 B roll - 4, 18) -2, +1 Your racer is looking for a place to hide when the Lady Galadriel offers them a look in her mirror, do they accept? And if they do what do they see?

They still hadn't caught up to the Lave Snake (Asmodeus). Actually, it was as if they were moving but not going anywhere. And there was no one else around except the angry gardeners and one daffa-dilly elf child. Ai, it was a beautiful place but a little unsettling for a those in the race ( Dragon and herself).

Moving along (or, so she thought) they came to a small valley among some trees. A tall elf women stood between two and smiled at Drifa making the dwarf feel a little unease. She then beckoned with her hand to follow and descended into the dell. Looking around with a worried frown, the old dwarf wondered; were they going down, into the dell, with just the tall elf women with no one to tell apart from the indignant gardeners and a young flower giving belle? The badger was suddenly looking for someplace to hide. Hesitantly, not wanting to get anyone else upset, she called him to her side and patted his head just like she would a pet.

"Be on guard!", she said. Then taking a worm from the worm box she had in her pack, she enticed the badger to follow her into the dell down a grassy track.

Inside the dell, a mirror stood. The elf women beckoned to the badger to come have a look, he should. The dwarf, a little surprised by this, thought; "what could a badger see in a mirror, and what if Dragon saw the tutu, would he be upset with her? "Oh dear!" Luckily, the creature wanted nothing to do with the mirror. He was more interested in the earth at the base of the stand where the mirror stood . It looked rich and moist - a perfect worm habitat - the badger rejoiced.

Now the elf lady was trying to entice the badger to have a peek. She stared at the creature trying to use her powers of persuasion (at least this is what it appeared to be) but nothing was working, so to speak. When the badger finally pulled a worm from the rich soil, the elf women glowed like a light bulb on fire. Bending down, she used her smooth white hand to dig out another worm; her hand so bright into the gloom of night.

Wiggling the worm near Dragon's snout, she smiled as the worm swung about. But the badger did not want anything to do with the worm in her hand. He kept digging whilst she kept wiggling; it was worms vs wills, an earthy and tenacious standstill. "Enough is enough!" Drifa whispered to herself and crept up to the mirror passed the worm-wiggling-elf.

Gazing in, all she saw was her reflecting and that of the sky, at first . But suddenly that change and what appeared made her eyes grow wide. For there in her quarters in the Mountain's side, a bunch of muddy footed male dwarves were stomping and spreading the dirt she despised. Calling out in alarm, she hopped up the dell incline, leaving the elf and badger behind.

In time, she would learn that not all that appeared in the mirror came true. But on that day she was heading home to beat a dwarf or two.

@Drifa with Dragon the badger (1 A roll, 1 B roll - 2, 14) -1, -2 It appears that the elves decided a lullaby would be a good way to make sure there is no more badger based damage.... How do you wake your racer back up? (I'm sorry the dice are hating you this round)

@Drifa and @Lady Winchester I will be leaving this race open until Friday at Midnight then I'll be closing it. Fortunately future races no longer have to worry about me not being around due to limited internet at home so updates from now on in future races will be more regular.

Still feeling somewhat foolish over the incidence with the elf lady, the mirror and the dirty booted dwarves, Drifa mumbled to herself as she followed behind the badger. "It isn't wise to look into magic mirrors. Why did you fall for that?!?"
Chiding herself for being so foolish, she suddenly heard music. It was elvish for sure, with a sort of lullaby's air. Looking ahead she saw that badger had heard it too. As she watched , she saw Dragon yawn and flop down onto the race track. As she drew nearer to him there was no mistaking his gentle snores. She nudged him with the end of her boot, but he was not moving and continued to snore.
'Bah!' Another elvish trick!"
Not having any of it, she picked up the creature and carried him to the nearest water-way and threw him in. The badger sputtered and spit and swam to shore. He shook the water from his coat and sent her an inquiring, yet ill-treated, look.
"Sorry Dragon, really I am! The forces are against us this race and I just want to go home and leave this place. Come let us pick up the pace!"

And off they raced!

@Drifa with Dragon the badger (1 A roll, 1 B roll - 3, 7) +3 , -1 The water seems to have woken up the badger successfully, and your racer hurries onwards finally in the right direction, but quickly gets distracted by an elves berry garden and goes and raids it of all it's strawberries. How do you cover your tracks?

"No! No! No!" Drifa appealed, as her racer dove head first into a strawberry field. They had advanced, tho still not close enough yet to the Lave Snake (Asmodeus) to see, but closer to the end of the race. The old dwarf's spirits were up when suddenly, the silly badger had veer into a tended patch. There would surely be elves watching this place and she did not want to have to see another angry face.
And so carefully wading into the berries, she grabbed Dragon by the scruff and carried him out like a baby. Then setting him down on his feet, she took the saddle from the frame of her pack, and tied it to Dragon's back.

"Race on you silly, critter! I will do the steering till we see the checkered banner!" And with a gentle foot to the creatures side, off they went with a, "Whoop!" and an, "Ai! Ai!"

Drifa could see the finish line. With ease and a please, she accepted the elvish mead. Then, as she sat upon the saddle rack, she tipped the tumbler and threw it back. Smacking her lips she said with a grin; "Ah, that was fine, I hope you don't mind, but I do believe it was me, not you, who got us through to the finish line. Jogging along she continued to speak. "Its back to the crate for you good Dragon. And for me, well I could down a few more flagons, hahaha..."

Sorry for disappearing for a while, I kind of got busy buying some personalized children's books from sites like Wonderbly and Librio. I'll try to be more active in the next race (but no promises, since I really need to get back to my online schooling). Even though Asmodeus is as curious as a common housecat (which is probably why I like him better than the Supernatural character of the same name, since he just annoyed me), at least he was able to win with a single post (unlike what happened to Smaug in the practice run in Mordor)!
