The publication of The Nature of Middle Earth had caused quite a buzz in the Tolkien community, Plaza included. New Tolkien material is always a cause for excitement and celebration among those who enjoy the Professor's works, and new technologies and markets opening made it easier for people around the globe to acquire books at the same time they are published. So it is perhaps no surprise to see that a lot of members got this book and started to read it. Or have already read it and are itching to discuss the content.

Cometh the hour, cometh the thread. :grin: Here there be spoilers.

Regardless if you've just started reading, or you are third/half/three-quarters of the way through the book feel free to post your first impressions of the book, its content, the chapter, arrangements of chapters etc. Share your musings, reflections, thoughts about the topics the book is dealing with or write a review.

If you so like you can even use this thread as a sort of reading journal, book club read-along or discuss... Whatever you choose to use this thread for, remember: keep it civil, be respectful and enjoy.

Nice pic.

I liked it, it contained such a variety of information. At first, I was skeptical if I would consider it as another of Christophers HOME series. It did not take long for me to accept it as authoritative as any other HOME.

I am enjoying it enormously and am very grateful to Carl F. Hostetter for undertaking the task. Some of the details are fascinating.

@Saranna and @bilbobaggins764 and @Nessa Saelind Since I don't have it yet this is possibly vague but since I don't have the book yet and am, due to my pickiness about books and the sets matching waiting for a soft cover edition -

Since this has been referred to as a catch all of different bits that really couldn't fit elsewhere was it disconcerting to read it?

OR was it well worked together and made to be at least cohesive as say the Lost tales which at least for me jumped about a little bit but was still easy enough to read?

I have to be honest @I Said What I Said you may find it too full of 'fragments' if you found BLT jumpy. I have the sort of mind that loves such fragments. How about you borrow it from a friend or from a library and dip into it? That might help you make up your mind.

Lol. Manitoba/Canadian interlibrary borrowing is shut down during covid (or that's what the local library states when I've asked). Sadly in high school I was the only HoME source in my province . I would bet money no Manitoba library has the new book. Though Winnipeg MAY have gotten HoME eventually
