So, yesterday it was announced (or at least that's when I saw it) a new movie that is touted as "the inspiration for Lord of the Rings" began filming. The movie is called "Hagen" based off the Nibelungenlied. I saw Fritz Lang's silent movie a long time ago, in high school. There have been a few other movies based on the German poem, but I have not watched them.

Tis the season of Sean Bean prequel shows
I've seen the Benno Fürmann, Kristanna Loken version they talked about in the article around the time it came out and yeah, yeah it's not great
it's fair more sword and sorcery than high fantasy (or folkloric fantasy which is what it should have shot for) but it was good enough to continue to spur my interests in mythology so in the end I suppose it wasn't all that bad. It's funny, in a way, that they tried to capitalize off the success of the original trilogy back in 2004 and now it looks like they'll do it again.
