Lol idk. It was from April fools. It'll probably go back to normal in a few days, i guess.
What sort of character stories are you interested in exploring, Arella?

Right now I'd say perhaps exploring some stories with hobbits, elves or dwarves would be fun. I'm a teacher in real life so perhaps it could be fun to explore a librarian or other "teacher" like character.

That sounds fun!

There's a big library in Minas Tirith, and several of us have written there being a school there, so there's plenty of ways you could get involved there. Or, if you'd like to write a governess or private tutor type person, there's nobility in Dol Amroth who might need someone to teach their kids, etc

We've established that there is no school in the bree land(since mr butterbur somehow learned to read and it seemed to be considered an unusual thing for the area) but one of my characters has thought about starting something there. Same for the shire, since bilbo taught Sam to read but it seemed most Hobbits seemed to have thought it was going to bring trouble lol.

I have an elf in imladris who does scribe type work, so if you have a librarian type character in that area they might have chances for interaction?

Or if you go with dwarves, i could come up with people to interact with you there too :)

Hey Arella, good to see a new face around. Welcome! In what kind of capacity you would like to play?
Just call me Aiks or Aikári. Notify is off.
Find me stuff in Gondolin.
And let us embark to Valinor!

Thabjs fir the welcome Aikari. Uh not really sure..hope it's okay that I only really have time on the weekends for hanging out around here. Teaching kindergarten does keep you busy. Any suggestions for a place where maybe I could start out?
@Rillewen You have to love hobbits thinking just about anything leads to trouble. That's nice to know there's places in Minas Tirith to get involved with..and yeah I was thinking there might be places there or maybe Rohan (though less likely maybe?) where noble men might have need of tutors or caregivers for their kids.

Of course, Arella, there's others who only post on the weekend, some who only post about once every few months, etc.

And yeah, Hobbits are so funny 🤣

As for noble families, as it happens, i have a noble family in Dol Amroth who's been looking for a governess or tutor for their kids. And of course, you're welcome to be the school teacher in Minas Tirith, there's no one currently writing that role.

Another option, one of my characters and someone else's character are talking about how to improve the orphanage, which is under poor management at the moment. If you'd be interested in having a character taking over running the orphanage, you could take that position?

Actually running an orphanage might be perfect for Arella..she’s an older character of mine who has the backstory of being an orphan and was in some not so great orphanages early on, but got lucky to end up being sent to a place where she was being set up to perhaps be a maid..taught to cook, clean, etc. She ended up marrying, and was the head servant who ran a noble house for years. She had 5 kids, but her kids are grown and her husband always had poor health, so I imagine she’s a widow at this point. I could see her wanting to go in and clean up a city orphanage, and actually make it respectable.

I’d also be open to making another character to be a governess for your noble family..or Arella had one daughter who was trained to be a governess Indara.

That sounds perfect!
I have another couple of characters who grew up in the MT orphanage, and at that time, it was a terrible place. It's under new management now but still not the greatest place. Maybe we could talk some more about past histories, in case our characters may know each other? Do you have Discord for chatting, or if not, would you be interested in joining Discord, for more easy chatting?

@Rillewen I'm not on Discord..not a gamer. I'm also one of those people that doesn't have an instagram and am barely even on Facebook. Also, all the other sites I've been on where I RPd with others they either had a Private message tool so people could chat, or they had forums specifically set aside for users to create planning threads. I suppose if none of that's available here and everyone else here plans on Discord I'd be open to joining there.

Most of us do use discord for plotting and chatting and so forth, but it isn't strictly necessary, if you don't want to use it. I'm not sure why this site doesn't have private messaging, but it would be helpful if it did. But they do have this, and other ooc threads.

Concerning the governess, my noble family has been seeking a trustworthy governess for several years now, so perhaps your character, Indara, could come for an interview for the job? They live in Dol Amroth, and have three older children/ teens. The youngest is 14, and he's in a wheelchair and unable to walk. Mom has been trying to teach them everything herself for years, but it's difficult to focus on all of them and she could use some help. She's a Lady, not a teacher lol.
Although, if she's looking for younger children to care for, there are other options. Lol as most people here can tell you, I have dozens of characters 😆

I think it’s fine for Indara to try to interview with your noble family. This would be her first posting and I imagine at this point she’s open to interviewing with any family..and if your noble family decides she’s not the best fit then I’m sure we can find a different family of yours that would work for her. Now I’m quite aware Dol Amroth it’s in the kingdom of Gondor, but which thread would you say our story takes place in?

This thread would probably be best, as if includes Dol Amroth :)

Perhaps she could have heard it around, that they are seeking for a governess. :)

The family is Lord Brenior Eglathor, his wife Lady Aurien, and their daughter Meressel, niece Dina, and son Caeleb. Not sure how useful that is for you, but I figure someone coming for an interview would probably have some idea who they're asking to work for.
Would you like me to make the first post, or you?

We can do it either way..I won't be able to post until this weekend though since I'm back at work with the kiddos, so if you want to post first that's fine. Otherwise I'll put a fist post Friday night, Saturday or Sunday.

@Arella
I'll do a post then, so i can set the scene and all. I'll say that their expecting her, maybe there had been some letter correspondence in advance, if that sounds good to you?

It appears that Mugra's snake has the same shortcomings as her master, forgetting and mixing up names. Falcor sounds more appetizing.

Sorry about the mix-up @ Eamila Bolger, Milo!
