Gladhron
Dec 26 - Afternoon
Common room
"A forester?" Gladhron listened curiously as Narradir spoke about his job and how he had come to have it. It sounded nice, although he smiled understandingly when he mentioned being almost sorry there wasn't much trouble at times. "Careful what you wish for." He grinned. "But, if it's trouble you want, you're definitely hanging with the right crowd." He added, with a nod toward Dom. "He's possibly the most trouble-finding guy I know.. although some people may have said the same about me." He joked.
He could only roll his eyes in amusement though, when Dom declared that he didn't have enough names that a ranger ought to have. With a little snort of amusement, Gladhron sat back in his chair. "If it were up to my brother, we'd use a different false name every time we met a new person." He declared with a little laugh, shaking his head a little.
It seemed that he wasn't about to get out of telling about his 'late night activity', and he realized that probably, by not wanting to tell, it was making them think there was way more to it than there was. He sighed. "Alright, fine," He gave in with a shrug. "If you must know... but it isn't really that interesting." He sat back in his chair. "I was invited to watch the sunrise arrive over your spectacular city, with.. a friend. Well, me and Gwestion and the others were, that is." He added, before anyone got the idea that it had been... well, what he'd wanted it to be. "Anyway... so, my brother was teasing about how I wouldn't be able to get up in time, and how he'd have to wake me up, and he even sorta joked about how he might not wake me, and therefore cause me to miss it." He huffed at the audacity of such a suggestion.
"Soo," He focused on rearranged his cards in his hand, as he continued. "I may have claimed that I wouldn't need any help waking up, and that I'd be the first one to arrive at the place we'd agreed to meet." He glanced at Kaylin and Narradir. "You haven't met my brother, but if you did, you'd get it." He explained, having no idea that Kaylin had, in fact, met him just that afternoon. "He's sort of... irritating, sometimes. And he thinks he's sooo much better than me, just because he enjoys being awake ridiculously early, when I prefer to be awake later into the night." He shrugged again. "Works out well when we're taking turns keeping watch over camp at night, out in the woods and all, you know? But, anyway, I couldn't let him win at this. Right? So, I just made certain that I wouldn't have to be wakened; I just didn't go to bed. That way, I was able to get to the place first, to meet our friend."
He grinned and leaned back in his chair, looking quite pleased with himself. "And therefore, I proved Gwestion wrong and I got to see the look on his face when he showed up several minutes later than I did." He declared, before glancing around. Where was that coffee? He was really getting tired, and was definitely feeling the effects of having stayed up all night without any sleep.
He watched then, with a somewhat puzzled expression, as Dom posed his challenge to Kaylin. As he brought all four legs of the chair back to rest on the floor, he looked at the glass with the coins, trying to work out how anyone could manage such a feat... to pick up the glass, yet without moving the coins, and without touching the cup? But then Kaylin proved that she had a clearer head than he did, at the moment. Right, he never said that the coins couldn't be moved, just that they couldn't fall. He gave a little laugh at seeing such a simple solution to that puzzle, and rubbed a hand tiredly over his face.
Narradir's exclamation startled him a little, and he glanced around half expecting to see some sort of trees outside the window, before realizing the guy was referring to the clubs on the card. Gladhron smiled a bit at the exchange between he and Dom, and then realized it was his turn. Selecting one of his cards out from the others, Gladhron took a close look at it as if inspecting the emblem on it. "Hmm, I always thought it was meant to be a clover. But yeah, I could see it being a tree." He agreed, before placing the card on the pile, face down of course. "Now," He turned to Dom with curiosity. "I think the floor is yours. What about the bet?" He grinned as he leaned back again, balancing the chair on its back two legs, while waiting to hear about this mysterious bet that had been building anticipation.
