Melahny: a heartache indeed when nature has to make room for a suburb. You reflected it very well, great poem on this topic. It is a theme not often used in poetry, or I could say I never read a poem with such a theme. But it has a striking feeling.

It is a common theme, I believe. Perhaps you will find more to enjoy. You will certainly find them here, in Poetry of the Woods. I cannot stop thinking on this theme. Wherever I go, I look around and think, "Where are all the trees?" Even where there are trees... there should be more. Much more!

Feels kind of sad
kind of free

Now that you're gone
... I can finally be me?

Thought Experiment

I wish I had a magic wand,
instead of a mascara wand
so I could erase all of my flaws away
and fix what’s wrong with my body.

Yes, I spend too much time thinking about it—
thinking what if I could take the pain away?
People say it’s pointless, what a waste
of time; why do you waste time with this
silly little thought experiment?

Oh, my thought experiment,
can you solve my predicament?
Can you light the way to freer forms of life?
Oh, my little broken mind,
body hurting all the time
can you find a way to fly far from here?

I don’t see the point in living on this way,
I can’t find an answer other than the Great Escape—
I wish I had a time machine
so I could go back again
and fix my life’s circumstance.
All mistakes would fade
And maybe my heart will break a little less this time without so much regret.

Oh, my thought experiment,
can we do this life over again?
With my preferred grandparent
and my loyal friend?
Can I make a new world out of the old?
Can I make the right decision?
Can I have supervision?
Let me see all of the ways I can have a good life, finally.

God, let me fly far from here…

Melahny: A really good poem "Thought Experiment". New Direction could apply to the departure of my dad two years back, how sad it was. But it gave me also my own life back. I can do what I want. Enjoyable creations. Thanks for posting and sharing them!.

Melahny: Sure, I have recovered pretty well from it over the last two years. But nearly 50 years and the memopause brings also lots of other issues. But I get through them without much issues. Extra iron and extra vitamins helps to balance the disruption of hormones. It is getting used to a new rhythm, by the end of the year it will be all over I think. *g* Anyway I looking forward to being 50 years old and starting a new decade in life.
