1. Sword, spear, or axe? Why? Sword, since it's not as long as a spear and not to be used as a cane as with an axe (couldn't think of another reason, sorry, and most fandoms I'm into, the characters fight with some kind of sword, with the exception of Jurassic Park/World of course). And I'm still trying to figure out where the spear in Moria came from, since even Aragorn said it could have skewered a wild boar.
2. Other than Tolkien (including Christopher), what single author do you own the most books by? It's a toss up between Stephen King and Michael Crichton (though I think I own one more from Crichton, since the titles I own are Jurassic Park, Pirate Latitudes and Dragon Teeth. I also read The Lost World, but I don't own it. In contrast, the only Stephen King books I own are The Outsider and Stephen King Goes to the Movies, which is one less).
3. How many mixing bowls do you have in your kitchen? Two, but I only use one of them (the one that I use my hand mixer with, that I had to recently replace, since my other one was ancient). The other one is part of a mixer/bowl combo that I got from my Mom, but haven't used it yet (it's still under the sink, waiting to be used), Sometimes the old fashioned ways are the best.

1. Sword, spear, or axe? Why? Sword - out of all the weapons listed it's the one I'm trained in the most. Even above bow. (yeah I'm a super nerd)
2. Other than Tolkien (including Christopher), what single author do you own the most books by? R.A Salvatore followed closely by Pratchett (who only lost because SOMEONE stole my copy of Mort)
3. How many mixing bowls do you have in your kitchen? I feel attacked. I feel called out. 12. (And this is ONLY if you don't include the large pirex glass bowl sized measuring cup that holds 10 cups worth of liquids then it's 13) I like baking okay???? Don't ask how many cake trays I have, I will be even more ashamed lol

1. Sword, spear, or axe? Why? I guess sword because it looks the most fun, although in D&D I tend to gravitate towards ranged weapons for most characters. In real life I think if I threw a spear I would promptly spear myself in the foot by accident.
2. Other than Tolkien (including Christopher), what single author do you own the most books by? Anne McCaffrey, of course (but none by Todd McCaffrey, because blehhh).
3. How many mixing bowls do you have in your kitchen? Uh...11 I think? More if you count the pyrex measuring cups I sometimes use when I've managed to run out of bowls.

1. Sword, spear, or axe? Why? An axe. It is most useful and versatile in every day life, can be used to chop down bathroom doors and yell "Here's Johnny!" and then I can also say "and MY axe."
2. Other than Tolkien (including Christopher), what single author do you own the most books by?This is weirdly hard to answer without a bookshelf to look at (I mostly read ebooks these days) but I think it would be Terry Pratchett. I own a lot of Discworld but only read a few.
3. How many mixing bowls do you have in your kitchen? 2 if I'm strict about what counts as a mixing bowl

1. Sword, spear, or axe? Why? Axe is the only one of these options I have reason to use (not for battle, obviously).
2. Other than Tolkien (including Christopher), what single author do you own the most books by? Probably Brian Jacques; I used to be really into the Redwall series and there are a lot of those books.
3. How many mixing bowls do you have in your kitchen? It's not primarily my kitchen, but we have about ten mixing bowls.

1. Sword, spear, or axe? Why? If a halberd counts as a spear, I'll take that. Combining an axe and a spear, heck yes. If that's considered cheating though, than sword. Preferably claymore, not that I would ever be able to swing one of those. 1 swing and I'll be exhausted, but the Scottish wars of Independence are my favorite stories to read about.

2. Other than Tolkien (including Christopher), what single author do you own the most books by? Terry Pratchett. I love Discworld and his satire. RIP. Can't believe it's been 5 years already, I think.

3. How many mixing bowls do you have in your kitchen? I'm not sure, when I bought a house and moved, my sister dumped a whole bunch of extra kitchen stuff she had on me as a "here ya go." I know there's 1 I use, but I honestly don't know what's in the boxes I haven't unpacked yet.

1. Sword, spear or axe? Why? Well... As a Hyandaner - sword it is. :fence:

2. Other than Tolkien (including Christopher), what single author do you own the most books by? I have collected a variety of books, but don't think there are any other authors that can compete with Tolkien in terms of number of books.

3. How many mixing bowls do you have in your kitchen? Currently two (have thought of adding another one).

1. Sword, spear or axe? Why? Sword. That's the only weapon I have experience RP'ing with.

2. Other than Tolkien (including Christopher), what single author do you own the most books by? Diana Gabaldon.

3. How many mixing bowls do you have in your kitchen? Currently, five.

1. Sword, spear or axe? Swords, mostly because they're so ubiquitous that it's easy for a character to have an excuse to have one. Plus, they look pretty cool.

2. Other than Tolkien (including Christopher), what single author do you own the most books by? Tamora Pierce, though I'm starting to accumulate a Brandon Sanderson collection too. Truthfully, most of my books are Star Wars legends books, and it's hard to count up individual authors. I may have more of one of them, though, depending on how many they wrote for legends.

3. How many mixing bowls do you have in your kitchen?Three!

1. What sort of apocalypse do you think you'd be the best at surviving in? Any 'go back to the dark ages'/EMP blast part would probably be fine as long as there isn't nuclear waste etc contaminating everything. I'd probably get burned at the stake as a witch but meh.
2. How would you survive in this aforementioned apocalypse? Well seeing as I grew up on a farm I would head back to the farm and go from there. Most of the people around me growing up have SOME form of survival skill... For the record where I grew up didn't have electricity as a common place thing until the mid 70's... there are still a lot of OLD bits of equipment that don't have computer chips that would work.
3. What sort of apocalypse should kick off my nanowrimo novel this year? Ice age caused by the destabilization of the Atlantic current.

1. What sort of apocalypse do you think you'd be the best at surviving in? The one I always talk about is zombies. I'm a huge fan of The Walking Dead, and I always picture myself in their world, thinking about what it would be like.
2. How would you survive in this aforementioned apocalypse? With a well planned hide-out, quiet and patience, some good weapons, and some useful people with me.

Um I LOVE your NaNo idea - I am a huge sucker for post-apocalyptic books/movies though less so lately.

1. What sort of apocalypse do you think you'd be the best at surviving in? Oh none at all in any situation unless it leads to some kind of utopian world (the dream). I am not going to kid myself. If its anything like the books I've read, I know I will not survive. I have very few practical skills.
2. How would you survive in this aforementioned apocalypse? I would definitely try to hole up and hide somewhere far away from all the people.

1. What sort of apocalypse do you think you'd be the best at surviving in? Any one that leaves some wilderness left. (Aka doesn't spread radioactive material literally everywhere.)
2. How would you survive in this aforementioned apocalypse? Go to the middle of nowhere in northern Canada, and hang out. With my camping/survival gear. Get as far away from the chaos of the rest of the world as possible; I figure the percentage of people who could manage to survive in the north is probably really low?
3. What sort of apocalypse should kick off my nanowrimo novel this year? If sci-fi: a particle accelerator accident that inadvertently creates a black hole somehow? For something slightly more probable: a near-Earth supernova?

1. What sort of apocalypse do you think you'd be the best at surviving in? One where I'm able to be in a group with people I know who are more capable than me but are willing to have me around despite not being a huge help.
2. How would you survive in this aforementioned apocalypse? By sticking close to the aforementioned more capable friends/acquaintances.
3. What sort of apocalypse should kick off my nanowrimo novel this year? It turns out the universe is actually a simulation being run by a higher dimensional being for their equivalent of NaNoWriMo, but it just became December 1 by their calendar so said being has lost the motivation to keep the simulation running.

1. How many dragons is too many dragons in a NaNo novel that wasn't supposed to be about dragons? UHhhh trick question. All NaNo Novels are infact about dragons even if they don't have dragons in them.
2. If your favorite Tolkien character had a pet cat, what would be its name? Well Sam probably does have a cat because that's just sensible and Sam is sensible. BUT he also went on an adventure so If it was an orange tabby:Tiger, if it was a grey Olli (for the Olliphants he saw)
3. What is your favorite book about books? Getting Down and Digital A complete Guide to Self Publishing your Book by AP Fuchs (honestly it's the only book on books I've read though I do have a friend that has one on how to do classic binding that I want to read eventually but she needs to rebind it... the IRONY)

1. How many dragons is too many dragons in a NaNo novel that wasn't supposed to be about dragons? Two. I feel one accidental dragon can be overlooked, but two is taking it too far!
2. If your favorite Tolkien character had a pet cat, what would be its name? Raucincë [Raukinka] from rauco and incë meaning a small but powerful, hostile and terrible creature. My fave is nothing if not accurate in his naming principles.
3. What is your favorite book about books? The Seven Basic Plots.

@Menolly I'm here aaanytime you want to talk post-apocalypse and I want to read your NaNo. :winkkiss: also - did you consider a magnetic pole reversal yet?

1. How many dragons is too many dragons in a NaNo novel that wasn't supposed to be about dragons? The answer is - there can NEVER be too many dragons. There is no such thing!
2. If your favorite Tolkien character had a pet cat, what would be its name? I'm going with Turin for this one because his cat would probably have 10,000 different names and one of them would probably be Deathpaw or Cursedclaw or something equally dramatic.
3. What is your favorite book about books? So I interpreted this totally different from other people... I can't say I read nonfiction about books so I immediately thought of Little Women, since it is about a writer writing a book. And as a young person, I never related to a literature character more than I did with Jo March so it is near and dear to my heart.

1. How many dragons is too many dragons in a NaNo novel that wasn't supposed to be about dragons? Depends on their role in the story.
2. If your favorite Tolkien character had a pet cat, what would be its name? Samanthawise Gamgee
3. What is your favorite book about books? How to Read a Book, by Mortimer Adler; or alternatively, if we may stretch the definition of "about books" a bit, Poetics by Aristotle

@Little Bird Lail I need to do a little research about that! I'm not sure what all the effects would be. We'll see how well my brain does this November and whether I actually manage to write something novel length. Thank you for the great ideas!

1. How many dragons is too many dragons in a NaNo novel that wasn't supposed to be about dragons? This is a trick question. There is no such thing as too many dragons, and in fact all stories should have a minimum of five dragons.
2. If your favorite Tolkien character had a pet cat, what would be its name? Mr Frodo II.
3. What is your favorite book about books? Despite enjoying writing as a hobby I have not read many (any?) books about books. I'm also going to stretch the definition a little and say Matilda, by Roald Dahl, because Matilda taught me it's ok to be weird and love books more than anything, because you'll still turn out ok in the end. Although strangely, I never got any cool genius superpowers.

2. If your favorite Tolkien character had a pet cat, what would be its name? Sam is my favourite and I could totally see him naming it Mr. Frodo

1. How many dragons is too many dragons in a NaNo novel that wasn't supposed to be about dragons? I don't think there can ever be too many dragons. What would even be better is balrogs riding dragons
2. If your favorite Tolkien character had a pet cat, what would be its name? One tradition Tolkien seemed to not want to break away from is that cats are wicked creatures. So I don't think Bilbo would have a cat as a pet, but he would name the stray that hung around spying on him/attempting to sneak into Bag End "Lobelia."
3. What is your favorite book about books? "Breaking Bread with the Dead" by Alan Jacobs, which is from something WH Auden said. It was recommended by Goodreads and did not disappoint.

1. What's the first movie you think of that Tim Curry was in? Rocky Horror Picture Show - "Sweet Transvestite"
2. What are your Top 5 favorite holidays to celebrate? Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Halloween. Truly it is my favorite celebration/time of the year. I use to celebrate other holidays when I was younger but now, it is nice just to have a day off from work and reflect on the reason for the holiday (not just the turkey, Easter eggs, and Christmas madness). I spend time with my family still, but everyone lives further away now and they have their own plans. You get use to it and enjoy it as you get older. Well, at least I am.

2. What are your Top 5 favorite holidays to celebrate? Christmas and Halloween would be the only ones I call favourites. Although I enjoy having four days off work over Easter. We don't celebrate too many holidays here, so I'm not too sure.
3. What special gift would Bilbo have given you after his 111th birthday? I think I would also receive a book. A book relating to Shire history, or perhaps a stranger book about foreign things. Who knows.

1. What's the first movie you think of that Tim Curry was in? Name sounds vaguely familiar, but I don't really know who he is. Looking at answers above, I've never actually seen Rocky Horror (sorry), which may go some way to explaining this.
2. What are your Top 5 favorite holidays to celebrate? I don't think I even celebrate 5 holidays in a year, what a scrooge! I'm not religious, but Christmas time is a favourite because of all the family and friends I get to see (and I also love Christmas crackers and mulled wine). I don't really have a favourite holiday after that. I guess Bonfire Night and New Year are usually quite fun.
3. What special gift would Bilbo have given you after his 111th birthday? I'd have loved a map, so hopefully a map. Love poring over a good map.
