Onto a new page, so here is an update:

Clue: Left

- It is a mortal
- Clue refers to directional left
- Not left behind
- Could eat a raw egg
- It is a human
- The Lay of Leithian was created before their birth
- They do not appear in the hobbit
- They have Numenorean blood
- They would fight a troll

10. They are not only mentioned in the ROTK appendices.

14. No, it is not Faramir.

(I will fully admit when I saw that Alma had posted I was about 90% sure she was going to have the right answer because it seems like she always guesses my riddles)

I was thinking it would be Faramir as well..."Window on the West" > West the direction "left" But well...guess I have to think of another question.

Is it Meneldil, since he is (depending on how it's written) off to the left of Isildur on the family tree but next in the line for the throne?

I don't think I'm quite ready for another guess yet...I'm still hung up on "West" being the direction left...thinking well for sure it has to be Aragorn, wielder of Anduril, "Flame of the West." Alas, *stop thinking West. Clue is Left*.

Is the person in question Anarion? I can't conjure a specific "left", but that's the traditional position of the second heir, or perhaps there's a detail of the Argonath I can't locate.

@Elvheimdros got it! It was Anarion, and the clue was specifically related to the Argonath in that the statues had their left hands raised in defiance of Gondor's enemies.

I thought quite a bit how to answer the "was he a King of Gondor?" clue because Isildur and Anarion are often thought of as co-rulers of Gondor and Anarion died before Elendil so he never held the title of "High King." That said, I had decieded after answering the question I'd give a correct reaponse to anyone who guessed either Isildur or Anarion, since both had their left hand raised and all the clues applied to both, but it was Anarion who was my original thought.

See, I ruled out Isildur on the grounds that he wouldn't normally be considered in the line of kings of Gondor specifically.

Anyway, your next word is old.

We've hit 10 questions, so a summary:

1. No, not an Elf.
2. No, not in the Silmarillion
3. Yes, is human
4. Yes, life overlapped with Frodo
5. No, not a Gondorian
6. No, not from Rohan
7. No, not a king
8. No, did not met Bilbo

It is not Aldor the Old.
It is not the Old Took.
It is not Aragorn.
It is not Gamling.
It is not Hama.

And the newest:

9. Yes, is in The Lord of the Rings
10. No, is not a wraith

@Dwarrow Elf I don't feel that I can answer that question yes or no as it's currently phrased.

Is it Ghan-buri-Ghan, who was Chief of the Druedain? He was described as being very old and "chieftan" is technically not a King, though I'm not sure if the Druedain would necessarily classify as "human"

11. No, not mentioned just in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings.

It is Ghân-buri-Ghân, who is quite old and is referred to simply as "old Ghân" several times. @Mojo, you're up again!
