Hanasian: I don't want to sound critical. Are so many threads needed for discussions? I thought a single one was enough? It looks so quite overwhelming and bit intimidating, if it is so important?
Just call me Aiks or Aikári. Notify is off.
Find me stuff in Gondolin.
And let us embark to Valinor!

Aiks, this simply replicates the discussion threads for season 1 (I think).

Hi everyone,I’m not quite sure where to post this, so I hope this is the right place
Until now, I haven’t been able to motivate myself to watch the series because I recently finished reading The Silmarillion, and I’m still trying to process everything. I’m a bit anxious that I might end up disliking the series due to inaccuracies and poor representations of characters and events. That said, I’ve heard both positive and negative feedback, and I’m starting to feel curious.I have a two questions for those of you who have watched the series:
1. What mindset did you have when you started watching it?
2. Would you acctually recommend it?
Thanks so much!

Beside them Gimli stood with his stout legs apart, wielding his dwarf-axe. The bow of Legolas was singing.
I always chuckle at those starts. Chrysophylax is right. I was just following the lead of others before me and the precedent set for season one. I'm sorry it's too much for you. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Aikári Salmarinian wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 6:22 pm Hanasian: I don't want to sound critical. Are so many threads needed for discussions? I went in from the beginning, and even going all the way back to when this project was first announced with a fair bit of reluctance that it could be pulled off well. Once I settled myself to accept that it was just going to be one elaborate fanfic like PJ's film projects were, I just hoped for the best, and expected the worst.
2. Would you acctually recommend it?
Sure. Just don't expect any linearity to anything written. With the compressed timeline and the mixing of events from all three ages into that compressed timeline, things don't happen in precise order and in their proper age. I knew that goign in, and have enjoyed about two-thirds of what has been presented. If accepting that is is based on the Middle Earth writings and not expecting it to be a close tracking of exact events, then I reccomend it. If you expect precise lore, well, there are more than a few 'elf armies in the Hornburg' moments in this series.

As much as I was excited for Rings of Power five years ago, it has faded. I liked parts and I hated parts, but in general it was 'yeah, ok'. As much as I didn't think it deserved the amount of hatred it got, and gets, on social media, I have to say the whole taking two years per eight episodes has worn down my enthusiasm. Sure, I'll watch it when season 3 comes out in August, but I wish Amazon would just green light season 4 and 5 already so the producers can work to bring it to a conclusion.
